r73 look up attachment parenting.. it's big with celebs. It's helicopter plus. You've got mothers that nurse til 12 (or older), fathers are encouraged to be extra physical as the most common complaint is of fathers being detached from family life. And they tend to too graphic in some areas of discussion while also at the same time keeping their kids sheltered from the real world and organic, natural, developmental milestones.
If you want the dark perspective, it's emotional manipulation.. rather than allowing their children to pull away away into tweens/teenagers normally tend to do. They make them neurotically codependent. The end result is a kid that's less likely to write a tell-all without intense guilt (or likely a self-medicating drug problem, such as when the parent pulls away their affections.)
It sides to the creepy, I'd guess because of the influence of scientologists in the industry... the practices of attachment parents in its extremes is very compatible with auditing and other scientology practices. Unsurprisingly, most of the celebs into it have scientology ties even if not (openly) scientologists themselves.

Regular attachment parenting advises this technique for infants. The idea is to make them feel secure enough with their parents as their “home base” that they can venture forth confidently. Letting them go is the goal. I know a rather unconventional woman who did all this. Her kid is certainly full of confidence. It seemed like this woman was spoiling yet restricting, overprotective yet super-permissive. It was VERY different from the way I was raised. The proof is in the pudding, I guess.
It can go sideways, spectacularly.

He’s not a helicopter parent, he’s just super affectionate because that’s how he was raised. He still kisses his mom, dad and other people he’s close to on the lips. I find it strange because I was raised the total opposite. It’s just not a new thing with Tom or only reserved for his kids.
The kids seem to adore him, but the older son doesn’t always appear to like the touchy feeliness.
