I do not understand their level of adoration for her. Every article about her has gushing comments about how fabulous, stunning, classy, talented, intelligent, exquisite she is. They also love to talk about how she's aging well, unlike other plastic, trashy actresses.
Maybe the English don't know much about French celebrity gossip, but I lived in France for almost 20 years and Vanessa is not the charming, talented powerhouse people make her out to be. Most of her success came as a teenager, everything after that was mediocre or a downright failure. Her music videos on Youtube don't have many views compared to other famous singers. Her film career is not impressive like Audrey Tatou.
She's well known in France as a haughty social climber who has used many men for a career boost--producers, directors, songwriters. She's known to be dismissive towards fans who praise her after concerts. She's a product of nepotism--her famous uncle got her a record deal at 13/14. She was obsessed with that creep Depp for years and dumped her boyfriend when Depp was in Paris shooting a film, then got pregnant after a few weeks, then bragged in a magazine that she has a perfect relationship and baby, and people are just jealous.
She got 150 million from Depp when they split, and now she has a new husband who writes movies and plays just for her to star in.
Before that, she dated an older guy and dumped him once he started having trouble with his taxes. Then she had an affair with married Lenny Kravitz, and they did a sexually suggestive photoshoot together.
Why are the commentators on certain british gossip sites so eager to praise her as a goddess? If any other female celebrity had her past/appearance they'd be insulted half to death. Like seriously, they're saying that she looks fantastic. She's 49 but looks mid 60s.
They also say she's a fantastic mother even though she had no problem letting the kids live alone with junkie Depp, and let Lily Rose have a 24-year-old boyfriend at 14.

I loved her in that Chanel advert where she was a bird in a cage. I saw her in one movie and I thought she was very good. I admire her for not going the plastic surgery route but she has aged very hard.

Vanessa is one of the most talented singers ever. She also had a lot of pain and struggle throughout her life. Despite that, she has a good heart, which is hard to encounter in Hollywood. At a time when gay people were oppressed beyond belief, they identified with her struggles and she theirs.

Washed up singer with a famous, attention-seeking family (her daughter, husband and sister) She has some nostalgia fans, but in general people aren't fond of her and see her more as a tabloid celebrity than a serious actress/singer. Her movies are mostly flops and people say her new husband is just using her for money. They don't like Lily Rose either, calling her vulgar and talentless. To be fair, she is very private about her personal life, and gets very defensive and uppity if anyone even asks her basic questions. Just look at the french version of closer magazine website, look at articles about her and you'll see the comments are negative. Use google translate if you can't speak French.

I read a review in TIME OUT that said "Mrs Johnny Depp still turns out anodine pop". seems fair. She's the face of Chanel in France , incredibly. I think she was once intriguing and beautiful, but she's been hard to look at for 2 decades now. Nobody in the UK knows who she is , apart from the Depp connection. OP is crazy.
