It's said he didn't go in to the hospital in time for the symptoms which were bothering him because he was afraid of being recognized and harassed.
Had he just had a nose job, not only would that problem have been solved, but he would have probably been more likely to get more acting work

He should have got a nose job like dr mcdreamy
| by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 5, 2021 1:12 AM |
He seemed to have a lot of troubles getting any jobs there for quite awhile.

Because his dick would have shrunk too.

I doubt it would help Dustin.
Patrick Dempsey was always attractive which is why he was a lead in romantic comedies. He looked better in motion. The nose job didn't improve anything in my opinion. I think losing his babyfat and growing facial hair helped more.

He didn't need one. He was a sexy guy a couple of years back, it was his behaviour that was unattractive.
| by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 5, 2021 1:20 AM |
A nose job still would have left that acromegalic chin. God rest his whatever.
| by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 5, 2021 1:21 AM |
A nose job sure didn't help my career.

Halle Berry and Jennifer Aniston benefited from their nose jobs. They aren't too noticeable.
I don't think men have the same pressure to get a nose job. Many women find big noses attractive I thought.

Late Dustin Diamond was basically broke as young adult because his parents blew through his SBTB money. How was he supposed to pay for any sort of plastic surgery? Something like that is not where you cheap out and go with lowest price.
Besides DD obviously didn't see any problem with his nose or appearance. He certainly didn't have problems with the ladies. His overall situation is fairly common to all child actors, they grow into adults and often age out of "cute" or whatever looks that got them work previously.

People forget that Dustin was an actual child on Saved by the Bell. He was 11/12 while the rest of the cast was 15 to 17 when the show started.

R10 So they isolated from him because he was much younger, not because they didn’t like him- at first?

Most likely yes. They were actual teenagers hanging out, partying and hooking up. Dustin was a younger kid, so he was left out of their inner-circle. I imagine the writers making him the butt of all the jokes didn't help his self-esteem either. Unlike Steve Urkel who was beloved and funny. SBTB writers just made Screech whiny and annoying and had the Bayside gang treat him like a leper.
Dustin's casting wasn't weird at first because the original series "Good Morning Miss Bliss" took place in a middle school, focused mostly on the teacher played by Hayley Mills and the cast was younger. Mark-Paul and Lark were also in the cast. When NBC retooled the show, they moved it to Southern California, changed the setting to high school and made it a stereotypical teen show. Mark-Paul, Lark and Dustin were carried over but they also cast Tiffani and also Mario and Elizabeth who were a bit older.

I thought the Coogan Act prevented parents from spending all (or even most) of a child actor's money.
| by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 5, 2021 1:40 AM |
As still a "youngster" Dustin Diamond of course would have been not included in whatever teen aged cast of SBTB got up to. It is just common sense that applies in real world as well. There are just so many moral and legal reasons piled on too.
R13
Coogan Act only specifies a minimum of 15% from minor child actor's earnings be set aside.
Whole matter is complicated because under most state's laws children are still property of their legal guardians/parents. While a child actor may earn money laws still require his parents or guardians to provide care including but not limited to food, housing, education, etc... Thus you can see why matter is complicated.

Coogan Law must have been updated or something as 25% of Dustin Diamond's money from SBTB was put aside. However at age 18 DD only had a few hundred thousand dollars in bank, that was all he had to show for ten years of work, his father spent everything else.
No one can live on " a few hundred thousand", especially a young man just starting out in life. Don't even think you can buy a home in most parts of CA for that money. Make a down payment yes, but not buy a place outright. Best thing would have been to invest a bulk of that money and live off interest while working.

Yeah. A lot of child stars get exploited by their greedy parents. The Olsen twins are a rare example of child stars who had parents that actually put their money aside which is likely because they came from an upper middle class family already.

For the record Jackie Coogan wasn't treated that much better by his mother and step-father hence the law that bears his name.

IIRC Bill Mumy's parents did pretty much the same. As such the child actor who once was everywhere was pretty well set when he became an adult and aged out of many acting roles.

Are you insane, or are you just a really insensitive rich person?
Only a [italic]tiny[/italic] percentage of young people "just starting out in life" have "a few hundred thousand dollars" in the bank. Everyone else gets a job.

That’s a lie. There are laws preventing patents from doing that. He blew through the money himself.

Sorry but no, and links make it clear. Dustin Diamond only received what was legally required to be put away in trust, his parents/father spent everything else.
DD was on SBTB for ten years since about age 11; just what do you think a child would have spent all that money on each year?

Licorice and porn.

Based on a headline in the DailyMail, Dustin was a "comedic genius". A nose job would not have made him funnier. Nor helped him escape the role that made him semi-famous.
| by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 5, 2021 4:55 AM |
I think he had good comic timing but the piss poor writing on Saved by the Bell wouldn't allow him to utilize it. He was just there to be the annoying punching bag character that everyone made fun of.
Mark-Paul had definitely star quality and he's the only reason you didn't want Zack Morris to die in a fire. Lark was also a good comedic actress. Tiffani, Mario and Elizabeth were just there to be pretty. I think Tiffani did better in her later shows.

Seems like a 50/50 combination of factors. The kid who played Steve Urkel was also cursed with terrible writing that doomed his future acting prospects, but he also seems to have made a new life that isn't a tabloid trainwreck

It wouldn’t have helped much.
