Not much reading between the lines required here. The murders are described as similar, and one of them has been described as a hate crime where victim and offender met online.

Gardaí (i.e. Irish police) are now saying there was a "homophobic element" to the murders.

[quote]there was a "homophobic element" to the murders.
If it was pink hearts, yellow moons and green clovers scattered about, I might have a suspect.

According to locals on Twitter, at least one of the murdered men was BEHEADED and the man arrested was a Turk. Remember that it's Ramadan right now in the religion of peace.
| by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 13, 2022 7:50 PM |
Um, did you see the story today of a good Christian family kidnapping and torturing a gay man
| by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 13, 2022 8:02 PM |
R5, now do the Christians who murdered Allen Schindler and Matthew Shepherd
| by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 13, 2022 8:04 PM |
Going by their proportion in the population of Western countries, Muslims should be responsible for almost no murders of gays. And that isn't the case - they are clearly over-represented (Bath in the UK, Pulse in Florida, etc.)
| by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 13, 2022 8:08 PM |
Apparently Sligo in Western Ireland only has a population of 20k and has a history of homophobic attacks.

R8, interesting that you focus on their religion, rather than that they are straight men, or just minorities, or 5 ‘ 10”.
You chose the characteristic that suits your narrative at the moment
| by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 13, 2022 8:44 PM |
And gay men are bashed and killed by Christians overwhelmingly—but you only bring up religion when a non-Christian is involved.
Why is the religion the cause when it’s a Muslim but never religion when it’s a Christian?
| by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 13, 2022 8:46 PM |
And interesting, R10, that you choose to divert attention away from a factor which obviously predisposes people to murdering gay men, i.e. being a Muslim. What saddens me about this is that those who are sowing the wind are not reaping the whirlwind.
| by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 13, 2022 9:00 PM |
R11 Is that actually true? Christians aren't usually violent.
R7 Matthew Shepherd was killed by an ex-boyfriend. It's not news.
| by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 13, 2022 9:06 PM |
This is sad and horrible, by the way. Poor men.
| by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 13, 2022 9:07 PM |
R13, no. He wasn't killed by an ex-boyfriend. He was gaybashed, then the killers decided to change their stories.
| by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 13, 2022 9:28 PM |
R12, there's no evidence that Muslims are much more likely to kill gay men then people of any other religion
You don't have the data to back up your claims
| by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 13, 2022 9:29 PM |
Maybe we should ask why 90% of gaybashers and 90% of murderers in general, are men.
| by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 13, 2022 9:30 PM |
R16 I didn't say anything about Muslims, just that Christians don't go around killing people with religious motivations much. The only actual examples I can think of are all fictional- although I'm sure there are real life cases.
Also... have you ever heard of a Buddhist, Hindu, or Jewish religiously-motivated murder carried out in the West? I can't think of one.
R15 Bullshit. It was over Meth. Again, not news. You must have loved "Laramie."
| by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 13, 2022 9:38 PM |
and?? how many straight men were killed the very same day?
| by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 13, 2022 9:39 PM |
R6 they were redneck scumbaga but how do we know that they were Christian ?
Stop defending Muslims who want us dead!
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 13, 2022 9:42 PM |
It was a non-Irish Muslim import, but the Irish Twitterati are making it about "homophobia" and blaming JK Rowling, for some reason.
| by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 13, 2022 9:45 PM |
R18, America is a heavily Christian nation and yet we have a high crime rate
And, no, Matthew Shepherd wasn't killed over meth. Why are you taking the lying murderers at their word? If it was about meth they would have just said that to begin with
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 13, 2022 9:47 PM |
Only a tiny % of murders are committed by Muslims
| by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 13, 2022 9:48 PM |
R22 Bitch, get off this thread. It's not about Matthew Shepherd.
| by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 13, 2022 9:55 PM |

| by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 13, 2022 9:58 PM |
Why is this not making the international news the way the lesbian bashing did? I guess dykes and trannies are higher up on the oppression pyramid. Nobody cares if gays get murdered.
| by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 13, 2022 10:00 PM |
As soon as I saw the headline, I simply assumed the murderer would be a Muslim.
The things you learn living in Europe...

R26 what lesbian bashing? Most people like or have no problems with lesbians
It's gay men that gets people CRAZY with hate
| by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 13, 2022 10:02 PM |
r26 because it happened in Ireland, and it did make the news, as you're reading about it. UK is bigger and has a much bigger media that is disseminated to the rest of the world, Ireland, not so much.
| by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 13, 2022 10:03 PM |
R27, then you must know that only a small % of murders in Europe are committed by Muslims
| by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 13, 2022 10:07 PM |
As soon as I heard about the murder I knew the killer would be male.
Like 95% of murders in Europe are committed by men
| by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 13, 2022 10:08 PM |
R31 and most of the victims are MEN, particularly gay men
If over 90% of LGBT hate crimes are targeted towards MEN, then why don't we have our own movement
We're the ones getting beaten and murdered!
| by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 13, 2022 10:11 PM |
R30 You do not know what you are talking about.
Speaking for Italy where I lived for decades, Muslim men are way over represented when it comes to crime compared to their population number.
| by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 13, 2022 10:11 PM |
And any gay man learns to be careful around them.
| by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 13, 2022 10:12 PM |
R33, and yet you provided zero data. And of course the overall homicide rate in Italy is lower than in the US, a predominantly Christian nation
| by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 13, 2022 10:14 PM |
r35 I'm not r33 but the reason Italy's homicide rate is lower is because Italy doesn't promote and encourage the sale and use of guns like the US. Most European countries don't, which has a big impact on murders.
| by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 13, 2022 10:23 PM |

The prison population in Italy is 33% foreign born. Way over-represented.
The breakdown by country of origin is here.

UPDATE
A 23-year-old man has been given two life sentences for murdering two men in Sligo last year.
The court heard that Gardaí (police) believed Yousef Palani's motivation "was to carry out murder due to prejudice against homosexuality.”
He further admitted intentionally causing serious harm to Anthony Burke on 9 April. Mr Burke was stabbed in the eye. Mr Palani denied being in Anthony Burke’s house despite his semen from a previous consensual sexual encounter being found on a blanket there as well as evidence from seized phones that linked him to the victims.
The court heard that one murder victim was decapitated with 43 stab wounds. The second man was stabbed 25 times mainly to his head, neck and chest.
He told arresting officers: “I can get angry very quick” and denied he was gay, claiming homosexuality was “a sin, you wont find many Muslims gay and religious”.

It is silly when people forcefully try to find exceptions to dismiss the rule. Particularly people who want to be politically correct against the reality of facts.
You could also, though men probably commit more than 95% of sex crime, find some twisted woman that was molesting a child and shout: I told you, women are rapist just like men

Last week there were journalists OUTRAGED that people were suggesting Hamas had beheaded babies in Israel. Less outraged at the actual act, more outraged at the suggestion that Muslims WOULD behead someone (baby or otherwise) because it plays into the trope of a feral, medieval animalistic brown person behaviour.
And now this story.
