Todd Haynes's upcoming "May-December."

Starring Julianne Moore, Natalie Portman and Charles Melton. Filming just started.

When this was first announced at Cannes in 2021, I was beyond excited - until I saw a poster on the awardsworthy forum talking about the script being boring. I read it for myself a few weeks back and they were right. The premise is great, but not much happens (though there is a bit of adultery) and they try to have it both ways. I'm sure Haynes will elevate it, but this film could be something special if they reworked the script.

Some describe Haynes as a fetishistic ASMR director.

It looks like Natalie had her lips done judging by the set pics.

This is the only Todd Haynes that I know of.

Why does Natalie Portman still have a career? She's a crap actress and her producing career was a total disaster and brought no money in.

Is this going to be a parody/homage to another Joan Crawford movie?

I wonder if either Julianne or Natalie will be able to net an Oscar nomination out of this. They haven't bothered with Julianne since she got her Oscar on her 5th try.

How, OP?

Shorter? Longer? A car chase?

Disregard the script. Todd's movies are all about lighting, music, wardrobe, furnishings, hair & makeup. He's a Production Designer posing as a Director.

Yes, and a Woman's Director who's completely disinterested in plots.

Was Carol his only movie to not feature Julianne Moore? I wonder if it pissed her off that he casts her in basically everything but didn't give her that plum role.

He's the vanilla version of Baz Luhrmann.

Weiner dog can't find acting work, hardly seems fair.

Judy Davis complained that James Lapine is another 'Production Designer posing as a Director'.

I don't if Lapine is gay but his career was certainly funded by gays.

I remember when we used to have entire threads devoted to this kind of speculation. Now, if it even gets brought up, it's as a comment by some scandalized old lady who probably shouts "Whore!" at her TV screen on a regular basis.

R12 Juliane already had her own lesbian drama "Freeheld" that year with (then) Ellen Page. Unfortunately it flopped.

The Academy hasn't really snubbed her since she won, she just hadn't been in anything that spectacular.

I've heard this is intentional campiness played straight, which I love and rarely see it anymore.

I saw MAY DECEMBER tonight and it's terrific. And we see in the shadows Charles Melton's erect cock as he pulls out after sex. It's very large. I hope it's not a prosthetic.
