Here's a follow up from her ex-BIL about having a wife and a girlfriend (wife has Alzheimers).

It makes me cringe when someone believes so strongly in destiny that they're willing to say out loud something like what Deb said at Thanksgiving, “It’s so unfair that someone had to get sick in order for me to be with you."

Still, it's far better than what a widowed man's fiance said during their family hosted engagement dinner. (His first wife and mother of his children died as the result of being hit by a drunk driver.) In response to a loving comment by her future MIL, she exclaimed "I'm happy she died, otherwise I would never have gotten him to myself."

I am confused-where is Belle in this marriage dynamic?

This is similar to the Julie Christie movie AWAY FROM HER, in which a man watches helplessly as his wife with Alzheimer's and who can't remember him falls in love with another man with Alzheimer's in the care facility she's at. Except in the movie the husband takes up with the other man's wife.
