There are very few public models of the type of gay man Sujan Stevens represents. The sensitive, spiritual, artistic half boy. I think we have all met them in real life but that type is never a public persona.
He is gay, right?

If I was crushing that hard on someone, I'd try to learn to spell their first name correctly.

Pithy, but not preachy, r1.

Hey asshole at R1, it's a typo. It's spelled correctly in the text which indicates I know how to spell it.
Do add anything to life?

R1 “if I were”; “was” wounds.

I never really got the fuss about this guy. Sure, he is, well the last time I looked at least, good looking, but I just have always had a strong feeling people only rave about his music because they want to fuck him. He sure makes boring music for someone who is a multi-instrumentalist with wacky song titles.

It’s about “Sujan”, OP.
Be careful calling someone an asshole.

I like his Tonya Harding song.

Not following music anymore, I learn so many new people on DL! He's quite attractive.
| by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 7, 2021 9:37 PM |
I would like his music even if he looked like a troll. I don't like ALL of it, but I think about 30% is sheer genius.
| by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 7, 2021 9:40 PM |
I tried listening to him to see what the fuss was about and a lot of it was this corny Midwestern dreck. It was boring and bland.

Surfjan Stevens = Peter Pan syndrome
| by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 7, 2021 10:04 PM |
Poor guy. No one can spell his name right. OP, you misspelled it twice. R12, you, too. It's Sufjan.
I like his music OK. I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it.
| by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 7, 2021 10:38 PM |
I shudder to think what you queens like who'd call this guy's music boring like -- he's anything but boring. If anything he's got too many ideas, and his music can be too erratic. From 20 minute long rock symphonies to skittering electronic noise to pretty little folk ballads to synth-heavy R&B sex music -- he is everything except boring

The only dick that will satisfy Sufjan is Jesus Christ's.
| by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 7, 2021 10:46 PM |
And it all sounds exactly the same R14.

Sufjan is a great artist. Turn off the Britney Spears or whatever you're listening to and spend some time with his music. He's wonderful
| by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 7, 2021 10:56 PM |
Disturbing as it is, his song about John Wayne Gacy was quite good.

I love Sufjan. My favourite song of the past year is probably “Run Away With Me”. So haunting.
And yeah, he’s clearly gay or bi, and I saw photos of him with what definitely looks like a boyfriend. He doesn’t openly talk about his sexuality (one of his songs, “Exploding Whale”, is clearly about it, described as the “elephant in the room”). He’s Christian and most his family probably are too, and it’s clear from his songs that he’s had a lot of inner turmoil over it. But he seems happy now and a good guy.

R6 Pretty much the opposite here. I love his songs but find him really unattractive. I don't know why, but something about him turns me off.

I own and enjoy "Illinoise", but that's the extent of it for me.

No one quite like Sufjian Stephens!

Sufjan's music is okay. Nothing has ever stuck with me. I check in on him every once in a while because I like the way he looks. He very sexy, almost hot. And beautiful to look at.

I love him. I think we're perfect soul mates. I wouldn't mind being a stoner in Central Michigan with him, writing psychedelic music.

His song about being abandoned in a video store, age 4, by his mentally mother is haunting.

I love his Planetarium album. I don't listen to it much because it makes me emotional and reminds me of the difficult time I was going through when I first heard it. Just knowing it is always there is enough.

Sufjan is a musical genius, though his latest album in lackluster.
The black guy, whose first name is Evans, is Sufjan’s long time boyfriend. Sufjan took Evans as his date to the Academy Awards ceremony when he was nominated for an Oscar in 2018.
