I don't follow, so I had no idea. But the band (without Hirwitz, apparently) is actively touring, and just played a community park concert where I went to college. So because I didn't know he retired, this was a bit of a surprise when I read it.
I was nowhere near that level of abuse, but thank gods I dropped booze almost two years ago.
