Shawn doesn't seem too bothered with the drug addiction rumors, but by not smoking in three months, it's clear he once again cares about how he is perceived, regardless of how he feels.
Of course, his closeted status is brought up. Any decent journalist would mention it.

It's not an assumption when we have compiled a plethora of evidence in the various Shawn Mendes threads on this site. Whether it's him staring at men lustily, or his effeminate voice or his need to be seen with "someone like a girl," Shawn's closeted self is obvious to practically everyone except his fraus. The rumors won't go away because Shawn whines about them and they won't go away if he is seen with more people who are "like a girl."

Being gay is not stupid and the fact that Shawn keep making homophobic comments shows that he is entrenched pretty deep in the closet, at least for public consumption. This boy is not coming out until his career is over.

Does anyone remember this part of the RS interview? I don't recall this happening, but regardless, if the article made Shawn appear creepy, that is likely because he is one. It's bad enough that he's in the closet. If he turns out to be a predator like John Travolta or Kevin Spacey, that would just make me sick to my stomach. I wouldn't be surprised, just upset at how that will fuel the negative views on gays that the public still has.

That literally sounds like Britney Spears when she was doing all of that partying with Paris Hilton and before she shaved her head and attacked the car with an umbrella. Also remember that severe mental illness may not show itself until someone is in their mid twenties. Shawn is only 20.
