Nothing brings out the Maiden Aunt Brigade in me like this show. Why do the brides all want to look like whores?? Why is every dress strapless? If there is a god, does s/he want bare shoulders and plunging necklines in church?
Does your god want to see you as [italic] Cinderhooker, [/italic] in those horrid, see through corset things by house designer Pnina Tornai?
I have my doubts...
And it's especially uncomfortable when dad's there, drooling over it all.

This is the bestselling dress, and I have a problem with it.

Just all so trashy. Just like the new America.

A friend went to Kleinfeld for her wedding dress. They had NOTHING with long sleeves and a high neckline.

Fat girls in strapless with tattoos and fat rolls overflowing....
| by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 13, 2018 9:48 PM |
What's interesting to me is out of all the show's seasons, there's only about 5 dresses that have stuck with me as being really breathtaking.
You occassionally get to see some real family drama, tho...
To their credit, the Maiden Aunt Mom will usually crack, and realize they've gone too far.

This is a dress I actually liked. A costume designer picked it for use on the show [italic] How I Met Your Mother, [/italic] too, so I guess it has some design integrity.
(Not that I usually use sitcoms for validation...)

And they all cry. And they jump from one client to the next. They don't follow the story for more than a minute.

S01E04 OVERBOOKED had a beautiful $17,000 dress by J’aton Couture that they sold to a picky beauty queen for $5,900
It was memorable.

The UK show misses out on the drama of having Kleinfeld's yuuuuuuuge establishment....but there have been some pretty dresses on that show.

All the strapless wedding dresses are unattractive.

The sleeveless dresses make the young women all look like whores.
Why are all the fathers in the OP so damned queeny?

R20 It is cute when they have now-divorced dads on the show who actually [italic] are [/italic] gay.

The girls all want sleeveless dresses and strapless dresses because that's the NORM. They aren't old enough to have been brought up to cover their arms, shoulders, hair or faces in church, and they aren't trying to be like their mothers or grandmothers or to please the great-uncles of Datalounge age.
And FYI their grooms aren't marrying them because they're modest innocent virgins.

If somebody is getting married in a secular venue, wear whatever you want. But why would these idiot brides think they have to dress like a stripper in a church?
I’ve seen a lot of brides on that show who come from a really religious, strict family, want to get married in the family church, and want to wear a negligee as they walk down the aisle. Why? Go to Vegas and wear a bikini if you want.
It’s like they want to piss off the congregation and embarrass their parents as a final fuck you before they never set foot in a church again.

I desperately want to see the SYTTD episode where the then QVC queen, Lisa Robertson, was contractually forced to accompany her QVC replacement to Kleinfeld's to select her wedding gown. Lisa's face through the entirety of filming of said episode was a painful/hilarious "BFD." She was totally suffering!
If any of y'all find it, please post!

The truth is strapless dresses are easier to fit....you just shove the bride in, then hem it. That's why there are so many.

Pnina Tournai is responsible for making brides look like whores.

R29 is the QUEEN of the maiden aunt brigade!
| by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 14, 2018 1:01 AM |
I’m not religious and nobody in my family does that big dramatic wedding thing any more, R34.
My nephew and his wife got married in Vegas at a drive-in wedding chapel with the baby strapped in the back seat. Everybody congratulated them for not wasting their money on a crapfest wedding. And laughed about how tacky it was. Nobody threw a fit because they weren’t inviting huge crowds to admire the bride’s dress. Nobody really wanted to go either.
I do have some actual religious relatives though who are pretty devout. None of them would be caught dead wearing this nightgown shit in a church. They’d be too worried about what the pastor and congregation would think, as well as what their mothers would say.

The UK version dresses are sooo much less expensive also?
| by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 14, 2018 4:04 PM |
I, too, hate all that sleeveless shit.
I do like the Atlanta show. Monty is so refined. I hear he actually lives in Va??
The U.K. Show is kinda sad. It's just a tiny little room with some dresses. No true selection whatsoever.
That trans bride was sort of scary. She was a giantess of a "woman"
Yesterday's show was great. They had Jenni from Flipping Out!!!!! She was awesome as she arranged for her nanny's entire family to be there with her. She (or somebody) paid for the dress and the bride-to-be even got to meet the dress designer.
You could tell Arianna really loved her.
So Randy is going to design dresses? That seems cool. He would know what brides really want since he's had to listen to them for so long.
