I HATE Desantis with the fire of a thousand suns. He makes me ashamed to be a Floridian. A status I have to admit to now going on five years as a resident. I also think the name Rhonda Santis is hilarious and I agree that he looks silly in his white booties.
That said, there's something slightly off-putting about a Republican organization tweeting something with veiled undercurrents of homophobia. I mean, that's essentially what they're doing, saying "look at fancy boy Desantis prancing around in his white booties like the green M&M" -- an attempt to emasculate him. When it's someone LGBTQ who is making fun of this cretin in that manner, it's funny, but seeing that same joke from a Republican organization makes me feel a bit uneasy.
And, before you come at me, yes, I know The Lincoln Project is made up of the "good" Republicans. But, I'll have to respectfully disagree that there is such a thing as a good Republican. Yes, they're never-Trumpers, but they're still Republicans. And, many of them were involved in vehemently anti-gay and anti-LGBTQ policy making in the Bush and Reagan administrations. So, now, giving them "permission" to take this position doesn't feel right to me.
