Wow. Has this movie EVER appeared on any kind of TV?

I have deep visceral memories of where I saw each of these films. Pink Flamingos, under the stars at the Monster in Key West, I attended the premiere of Eating Raul at the 68th St. Playhouse, Paul and Mary were there but not Raul. La Cage also played at 68th St. for over a year. Fun audiences. Good times.

I imagine some sweet old octogenerian TCM devotee unable to sleep, so she wakes up and makes a little tea and settles down in her favorite chair with the afghan to drowse off to Debbie Reynolds or Bette Davis ...
... and the first thing she sees is Divine sucking Crackers' dick while he moans "DO MAH BALLS, MAMA!"

I set my alarm for 3:45AM and watched it in its entirety, R9. I haven't seen the movie in 40+ years so if they did cut out something, I'm not aware of it. However, the most infamous scene was NOT deleted.

I bought Criterion's Pink Flamingos bluray. The special features are good. They show John Waters going to visit the locations where the film was shot. The spot where the trailer was is now an old couples' front lawn in the countryside. The old guy brings out a metal detector because he thinks the rubble of the trailer may have been buried under the ground. They did get a little signal. Then Waters goes to the house of the Marbles where he had lived with Mink Stole. It's now lived in by a heavy metal band member. When John sees his messy bedroom he says "it looks like the filthiest person alive still lives here!" He allows John to lick the bannister before he leaves. There's also deleted scenes and two different commentaries by John Waters.

There are two kinds of people in the world: my kind of people and assholes.
Guess which category you fall in.

Shit, abortion, cock, raped with a chicken... There must have been only 27 min. of film to work with.

I can picture Meryl Streep as Divine's daughter, this should have been her start.

So many firsts for TCM via Pink Flamingos:
Unsimulated blow job/incest
Dyed pubes
Full-frontal flashing
human-chicken-human 3 way sex
closeup of an asshole
Imagine the shock of some granny tuning in expecting to see a Thin Man movie

I would love to have the late Robert Osborne and some snotty film professor dissecting the scene where the singing asshole performs "Papa-Oo-Mow-Mow."

We own a few pornography shops, plus we front money to a chain of heroin-pushers in the inner-city elementary schools.
We feel the attention that's been focused on Divine lately is most unfair. She is merely a common thief and murderer. Unfortunately for us our line of work limits our chances for publicity and travel, but this does not mean that we wish to go unnoticed. After all, we have not worked all these years in order to be upstaged by this fat hog that calls herself Divine!
