She’s not an alcoholic or drug addict, but yet it all slipped away from her. And she’s not wealthy like Paris and Britney. She’s still fairly young, but life doesn’t get any easier. It only gets harder. Lindsay might have been one of those few child actors who made it big or at least made a living as an adult. But it didn’t work for her.

Around 2006/2007 or so, Lindsay was lauded by most of the Hollywood critics to be THE next superstar beauty in the industry. I can't say that I agreed or disagreed, but that was very much the case during those years - even during 2008 she was still the talk of the town although by then for mostly the wrong reasons. She graced the cover of just about every entertainment and high fashion magazine and her every move was chronicled by the paparazzi. Her fast decline started around the 2008 if I remember correctly. But yes - she was considered to be the next Julia Roberts if not exactly the next Meryl Streep... As it turned out, Jennifer Lawrence became that "IT girl" and Lindsay dug her own grave and plummeted like a lead balloon. That said, things were not always such a running joke with Lindsay - she was once considered one the great talented hopefuls of her generation.

R145. When we say that Lindsay threw it all away, we re referring to her potential as an actress. Critics across the board almost always complimented her on her acting. It's not that she wouldn't have had to work for her movie career as an adult, but she was certainly poised to at least have an acting career. But she became part of that defiant group of girls hanging out with Paris, Britney, etc. The things is, they had the money to be defiant and still have a very rich lifestyle. Lindsay had to work, and she didn't. She stopped working and started enjoying the party life. Her screwed up parents didn't offer her any guidance when she needed it the most to turn her child and teen fame into a thriving adult acting career.
What's hard to understand is that Lindsay is still part of our consciousness. Somehow she has maintained fame, and people are still curious about her. She seems to live well. But what she would probably love is to have a movie career. I wish someone would hire her. She's had dozens of second chances. Give her one more.

I was 15 that year and I remember there was a lot of behind the scenes coverage of that photo shoot, on all of the major entertainment news show. Like entertainment tonight, extra, E news, access Hollywood etc.

I was kind of part of that scene. Paris is more of a stoner than she is a coke head, but she definitely lives on coke as well. Someone created a special hybrid strain for, which she smokes constantly. She is actually a lot of fun and her sister Nikki is probably the nicest of the group (aside from Britney), most level head on that crew. Paris circle at that time was her sister, Brandon Davis (he has gotten hotter with age), Nicole Richie, Bijou Phillips, Casey Johnson (RIP) - everyone went to school together when they were young at Buckley. Paris used to live on Kings Rd and threw these great parties. She had a small pool at the side of her house which had its own entrance and it was like having your own boutique hotel pool area. I really miss those days. LA was so much fun to go out then. I would say things have changed, but the younger millennials are probably doing the same shit.

I believe kris jenner was jealous at seeing Paris and Nicky Hilton on the international world stage and wanted the same for her daughters, and wasn't going to rest until she had achieved the same for her own family.
I remember seeing a video of Paris Hiltons 21st birthday party at studio 54 in I believe 2001. And you can see kris Jenner and faye resnick dancing in the background. Kris had this look on her face of this could and should be my daughter's in this position. She looked as though she was going to plot to get for her daughters what paris and nicky had in terms of fame and media attention.
Kris has long since wanted to get her family into the spotlight. She wanted her daughters to achieve elite status just as paris and nicky had achieved.
But they were Hilton's, so it was always going to be easy for them to obtain celebrity status. Reality tv ended working out brilliantly for the Kardashian/Jenner family.
Kris has the life and $$$ she's always wanted. If you ask me, I think she actually eclipsed the Hilton's. Definitely in $$$ and fame.

Hillary sort of paved the way for the Miley’s, Selena’s and Demi’s of the world, although I think those 3 have more in common with Lindsay. Lindsay was able to get some high profile jobs after her Disney stint while Hillary couldn’t exactly shed that girl next door image no matter what she tried.

Paris Hilton is largely responsible for this current culture of materialism we see now. She was the famous wealthy socialite quintessential California girl, with wealthy parents in bel air. And after the simple life premiered, all of these tacky reality shows about rich people pop up.
The housewives, Kardashians, Laguna beach, the hills, Shah's of sunset, etc.
Paris basically gave us this culture of excess and wealth celebrity worship. Her and her alone, then everyone else kinda followed. I didn't really see anyone like her until she came on the scene.
She's basically the modern day zsa zsa gabor.

I did a paper in grad school about the creation of the Kardashian brand. At the premier of their show, the family lived in a relatively "modest" ranch house in Hidden Hills and Kim lived in a small condo off Robertson. Viewers (parents) wanted a substitute for Paris. Kim had the glam side but she also had a stable family, more traditional family values, and was anti drug. At the time they were more relatable/accessible than Paris was. I find it hard to believe that anyone could be best friends w/ Paris and not touch a drug or drink. It seems unlikely.

When the Kardashians reality show started in October 2007. They were basically upper middle class. Now they are genuinely real $$ wealthy.
Who knew reality tv and selling cheap products and merchandise to your fans, could put hundreds of millions of dollars in the bank. Or even a billion plus, and finance a life of private jet flights super expensive cars, jewelry, every member of that family seem to own prime real estate in gated communities etc etc.

There's an old TMZ video from 2006-2007? Of paris and kim in a range rover on sunset boulevard out one night clubbing. And there was a lot of smoke in the vehicle.
The paparazzi caught them with a joint. Paris and Kim were both trying to fan the smoke away, and they were both laughing about it.
Kim has definitely experimented and dabbled here and there. But I just don't really think drugs is her thing. She seems to be very competent and has a firm grip on things in her life. I think she gets that from her mother kris.
