Which male stand-ups are openly gay?

Does anyone find Matteo Lane truly funny? I *want* to find him funny, but he seems to trade almost exclusively in tired clichés. You can see his jokes coming from miles away.
| by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 25, 2024 8:01 AM |
Justin Randall, Tyler Mead
| by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 25, 2024 9:00 AM |
Who cares, OP? None of them are funny.
| by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 25, 2024 9:07 AM |
Plenty in Australia: Josh Thomas, Joel Creasy, Nath Valvo, Tom Ballard, Rhys Nicholson.
I can't stand any of them.
| by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 25, 2024 9:41 AM |
I cannot stand Josh Thomas either, R8. From his ugly, little wrinkled face and his shock of unkempt hair to his pretentious accent and his twee mannerisms, he is truly the worst of the worst. The rest of them I find tolerable and even quite funny at times. Tom Ballard is exactly my type in terms of looks - dorky, but cute.

^ Started off funny but soon lost me.

I will give it to Mario Cantone. I find him extremely funny. When Gilbert Gottfried had his podcast, Mario would come on every December for the Christmas episode and the two of them had me gasping for air, I was laughing so much.

Mario Cantone’s riff on “The Birds” starts very funny where he sings the schoolchildren’s song but then he runs the joke into the ground.
| by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 25, 2024 4:32 PM |
Too many of these gay comedians stress the gay part with their stereotypical mannerisms and forget the comedy.
| by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 25, 2024 4:33 PM |
Joel says he's playing a character. Anyhow he does make me laugh (not belly laughs) but mainly he's a good storyteller.
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 25, 2024 4:35 PM |
Larry Dean. Gay AND Scottish are two of his themes. I've only heard short bits but I find him very quick and likeable.

I like Bowen Yang as a sketch artist and he’s great in Nora From Queens. I know you all don’t like him so no need to come after me.
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 25, 2024 5:19 PM |
I was going to post Larry Dean, but R21 beat me to it. Instead I'll post Tom Allen.

Josh Jones is genuinely funny.

I've seen Jay Jurden a few times around NYC and I think he is pretty damn funny. Certainly better than Matteo Lane was.
| by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 25, 2024 6:30 PM |
What became of Scott Capurro? He was everywhere for a while. Though never funny.
| by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 25, 2024 9:25 PM |
Justin Randall - not funny

Tyler Mead. Toilet humor - no.

R11 That was painful to watch.
| by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 27, 2024 11:19 AM |
These guys are definitely not dataloungers.
| by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 27, 2024 11:24 AM |
R15 I only laughed at the guacamole joke.
| by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 27, 2024 11:24 AM |
Scott Agnew - very hot Scottish comedian.

Gays have collectivist mindsets, too politically correct about everything, except Tim Dillon.

“James Adomian is gay. He is the grandson of Armenian-American mathematician George Adomian. He is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.”
Of course he is. 🙄

R15 He lost me when he unironically said he was hot.
Nope. Not hot.

R34 Too bad I can't understand a word he's saying.

Julio Torres
He wrote or co-wrote some famous SNL filmed pieces, "Well for Boys" and "Papyrus" staring Ryan Gosling.

I think Matteo can be funny R3, but I think R19 really nails it:

Without the gay "schtick" I'm not sure what he has to separate himself from other comedians (and maybe that is the point). Anybody can bitch about airline food.

Jessica Kirson is hysterically funny.
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 27, 2024 6:58 PM |
R48 Ugh. Jessica Kirson mainly just belittles people in the crowd and laughs at herself when she says something she thinks is funny.
A little bit of her goes a long, long way. She's like the ugly lesbian version of Matt Rife.
| by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 27, 2024 7:40 PM |
Is she an "openly gay male"?
| by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 27, 2024 7:52 PM |
I find Matteo funny, but I also find his faux NYC elitism quite off putting. You're from Arlington Heights, Il. Matteo, so quit trying to act like you are NYC born and bred. Don't get above your raisin'! A real New Yorker would never be so pompous.
| by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 27, 2024 7:54 PM |
He definitely did not grow up in NY r51, but the guy has lived in NY for well over a decade now. That's a good amount of time. I think after about 4-5 years in a city you can really start claiming it, but that's me.
| by Anonymous | reply 52 | February 27, 2024 8:49 PM |
No, all you can claim is that you are a New York City resident, not a New York City native. BIG difference.
| by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 27, 2024 8:51 PM |
I don't want to know why R44 Jared is wearing a skirt.
| by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 27, 2024 8:55 PM |
R45 Julio not funny but I like the line about Daisy Duck dressing up with eyeshadow.
| by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 27, 2024 9:02 PM |
Jessica Kirson does amazing crowd work, but OP specifically asked about openly gay male comedians, not lesbians.
| by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 27, 2024 10:12 PM |
But the thread proves that none of the gay guys are actually funny.

You know R51 ...
I was about to write a comment about how so many New Yorkers are pompous asses (and yes, many, MANY, of them are) ... BUT
I am now questioning how many are native New Yorkers, and ... it is not looking good for the transplants.
| by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 28, 2024 12:07 AM |
Jessica Kirson is certainly not a gay male (she is a lesbian, though), but I personally like her a lot—she excels at crowd work which is not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s also not something all comedians are capable of doing either. She makes me laugh—I can say that much.

I don't think Whitehall is gay. I mean he is in a relationship with a woman and they have a child together. Not that that means anything to DL.
| by Anonymous | reply 63 | February 28, 2024 9:26 AM |
He's not gay; he's British.

[quote] I am now questioning how many are native New Yorkers, and ... it is not looking good for the transplants.
I lived in NYC for 3 years in the late 80s. The transplants (at least early on in their residencies) were always very pro NYC. Everything about the city was magical to them. There was no other place on earth they would want to live. The natives all dreamed of the same thing, getting out one day. After my temporary assignment there was over and I came back home permanently I kept in touch with many of the NYC transplants I knew or would catch up with them when I'd return a few days a month for business. Without fail they all had fled the city within 5 years of moving to that magical place.

R60 But the thread title...
| by Anonymous | reply 67 | February 28, 2024 3:22 PM |
Matt Rife has some of the biggest dick suckin' lips I've seen
| by Anonymous | reply 68 | February 28, 2024 3:44 PM |
Whitehall is fancy upper crust boarding school British, which means it's going to take more than female partners and fathering a child to convince me he's heterosexual. He makes John Inman look macho in comparison!
| by Anonymous | reply 70 | February 28, 2024 6:43 PM |
tim dillon is very funny but not so much at stand-up and i wish he wouldn't pal around so much with right wing ghouls.
| by Anonymous | reply 71 | February 28, 2024 6:44 PM |
Tim Dillon reminds me of those gay dudes who tries too hard to fit in with the straights, so he acts as boorish and asinine as your typical wingnut, even he probably doesn’t believe half of the shit he spouts to be accepted by them.
He is funny, though.
