Saw him in concert about 7 years ago. We had special VIP passes which included a gift bag and dinner before the show. Most of the people at this dinner were women and members of his fan club. His assistant came out and gave all the women special necklaces from Neil. The place went insane, imagine 60- something women sobbing trike teenage girls. Having said that- the concert was a blast, he gave 110%, the crown was super into it and me and my friend (front row seats) made it onto the Jumbotron. A few years later I ended up givin* the contents of the gift bag ( minus the fleece blanket with Neil’s name embroidered into it) to a sales man at a car dealership who had the license plate “ JAZ SNGR”

I've heard he said "Sweet Caroline" was written about a 12 year-old Caroline Kennedy when Neil was in his late 20's.

It was written specifically for Lea Thompson’s show. She was to grow into the song.

He obviously has talent, but I always found him very bland and cheesy.

And "I Am I Said" has some of the most hilariously bad lyrics in pop music. The chair didn't say anything, y'all!!!!!

I was a teenage gayling when this came out. Along with Donna Summers' "Heaven Knows", I thought this was THE best song ever written.

In the video, you'll notice that both of them have their hand in their pocket. Did they have to finger themselves to get through working with each other?

My mom was obsessed with him, and played the crap out of his stuff at home and when taking me to and from school. For the longest time though, I thought the song "Forever In Blue Jeans" was actually called "Reverend Blue Jeans", which made no sense to me.

I’m amused by his rambly sprechgesang. He always sounds so affably exasperated and “aw, shucks” when singing. Hearing his voice often puts me in a 1930s/40s New York headspace.

I have never understood his success or how he has so many fans. He has an awful voice and from seeing him on TV, hardly any charisma when he is performing. The songs - OMG , the worst ever!

Never gotten him, his voice or his music. Too each his own. Of the same ilk, Billy Joel. Although Joel has always sort of given me the creeps. Diamond seems like a regular kind of fellow- just don't care for his voice or music.

Neil's voice isn't bad, his songs are just so overorchestrated.

A lot of those 60s and 70s artists got their "charisma" from being singer-songwriters. Look at Carole King. She looks like some coffee house waitress. And Joni Mitchell looked like an uptight librarian. That's why I think people like Bette Midler got so popular. Bette would get up and shake her boobs around the stage and the level of her energy was so different than the singer-songwriters just strumming their guitars or sitting at the piano.

his songs were corny but some of his lesser hits from the beginning of his career sort of rocked. Like the one from Pulp Fiction "Girl Youll Be a Woman Soon" (his version was remade by a 90s band) and "Cherry Cherry"
