Don't yell at me about the NY Post link. It has the best, most up-to-date info. Most intriguing tidbit: "The neighbor added: 'Somebody comes up to visit on the weekends [and] in the evenings, and there’s loud screaming and fighting,' saying the visitor was a younger woman."

Vickie Lawrence IS Debbie Collier in Causing A Commotion: The Debbie Collier Story
| by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 22, 2022 3:08 AM |
Won't link to the Daily Fail, but in their story, they say the husband last saw Debbie at 9:00 PM on Sept. 9th, when he went to his separate bedroom (because he snores). He then claims he got up on the morning of the 10th and left for work without seeing Debbie, and assumed she was still in bed and asleep because her car was in the driveway. But if she'd rented another car, wouldn't he have noticed THAT car was NOT in the driveway?

I was thinking the same r4.
| by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 22, 2022 3:18 AM |
Husband says her rented car was in the driveway when he left. Then 3:17pm she texts daughter "they wont let me go".
Seems like a kidnapping but did someone break into the house? Did she go out to meet someone? A debt of some kind that she owed? If it was a break in usually they ask the victim for money first. Why didnt she text more info to her daughter if she suspected she might die, as in "hey im being held by these people call 911".

Sometimes kidnappers use the victim's phone to send cryptic messages to throw off LE. I think it's the husband. Not sure why her body was found naked with burns though. That's odd. Maybe he tried to burn the body and it just didn't take.
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 22, 2022 1:10 PM |
It's quite hard to burn a human body - you need a fire with extraordinary heat, and it usually takes a day or two.
I recall the Marine who killed his ex girlfriend and spent about 2 days burning her in their outdoor fire pit.

If I had to concoct a shitty serial around this, I'd suggest that the cellulite-ridden horror of a daughter set up an insurance scheme with her mother to kill the (step)father; hence the tarp, lighter, and other purchases. The mother, bless her heart, looks stupid enough to fall for it. That would also explain the ludicrous text and the random Venmo transfer to the kid. And then.. whammo! Joke's on you, mom. I mean... It makes as much sense as anything else in this depressingly sordid, trashy tale.

Debbie is 59 years old and, according to the much-maligned daughter, has a bad back. But watch the video: Is that the body and movements of a 59-year-old woman with a bad back? And why is Debbie's trademark spiky hair suddenly curled?
HOWEVER
The person is wearing what appear to be orthopedic shoes, and the "impersonator" is definitely NOT the daughter, whose legs are much heavier.

| by Anonymous | reply 95 | October 3, 2022 12:36 AM |
The "mysterious" 911 call was from Debbie's sister who told police about the encounter with the ex-con, (the car accident) but that was months ago. Police are saying nothing so maybe she had an affair with him. Maybe not.
DL Detectives could solve this case if cops would give up info.
It's obvious Debbie was talking on her phone or texting that 10 minutes in the Dollar Store parking lot. And cops found her phone near her body so they have to know a lot about her last hours.
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 96 | October 4, 2022 2:00 AM |
Her pause in the parking lot lines up EXACTLY with the money and message that was sent at 3:17 PM: "they are not going to let me go love you there is a key to the house in the blue flower pot by the door" (no punctuation)
Most people read the message as: "They are not going to let me go. Love you. There is a key to the house in the blue flower pot by the door."
But what if she meant: "They are not going to. Let ME go. Love you. There is a key to the house in the blue flower pot by the door."
I believe the message was sent by Debbie, and that the second interpretation is correct.

R108 Dome make me go and give them my email address.
| by Anonymous | reply 110 | October 5, 2022 5:18 PM |
R108 here. My theory is "someone" called Debbie and asked for her help because they had car trouble and were stopped at the pull-off where the rental van was found. She goes to pick them up; then asked to go to get a few things; it's raining and a tarp would be good to put down to get under the car to fix whatever, and maybe a rain poncho and some paper towels. The lighter is an impulse buy. I think the daughter was in the car at the store with Debbie's phone. The stall was the discovery of the Venmo payment.
Things escalate on the way back to the broken down car. Deb ends up down the ravine, and is finished off there.
It's the only way to explain most of it.
Now get over there and tell those wenches. I ain't signing up, but have spent a couple of hours reading their comments.
| by Anonymous | reply 111 | October 5, 2022 6:08 PM |
I like the dome house, but I suspect frau-tastic interior decor.
Right now, I suspect the daughter. Venmo transfer in an odd amount, $2,395.79, or something like that. With a note from Debbie: they won't let me go. Why didn't the daughter jump into action if someone's not letting go of her mother?
| by Anonymous | reply 112 | October 5, 2022 6:46 PM |
How many miles is it from Family Dollar to the death scene?
Police have Debbie's phone so they have all the info re incoming/outgoing calls. If someone summoned her for a rendezvous somewhere police have that number. Could have been a burner phone though.
It's not unusual to buy a tarp this time of the year to cover and protect stacked firewood, etc.
Maybe Debbie had a Tinder hook up. They had sex in the woods away from cameras then the guy killed her.

This woman posits that Debbie sent the Venmo message because she was trying to pay for her daughter's boyfriend's rehab.
If this is true, she might have meant “they won’t let me go IN." The rehab center was a male treatment facility and maybe did not allow her in to pay the bill.
That would solve the mystery of why she was in that general location, the content of the Venmo message, and the Venmo amount. Everything that happened next is still rather unclear.

The location of the Victory Home Rehab Center is a huge bit of info. But did she visit the place?
Her body was found about 1/4 mile into the woods from her car. No way did she walk in voluntarily.
She was dressed for and planned to watch some sporting event with her daughter that late afternoon. She was running late so she told her daughter where she could find the keys to her home,.presumably to enter and wait for her.
This has to be some kind of abduction and murder.

"Her body was found about 1/4 mile into the woods from her car. No way did she walk in voluntarily."
So, you think she turned her phone off for some unknown reason, parked her car by the side of the road for some unknown reason, got out of it for some unknown reason, and some rando just grabbed her and dragged her 1/4 mile into the woods-- WITH all the stuff she'd just bought at the Dollar Store? And then decide to murder her using that stuff? Isn't it far more likely that she walked into the woods with her bag of stuff to meet this person, and then something went tragically wrong?

r141 that was a lot of effort on your part.
She had an apt with her daughter and she was running late. From the few clues provided thus far I would guess she was abducted and taken to the location.

"From the few clues provided thus far I would guess she was abducted and taken to the location."
There are a lot of clues, and absolutely none of them support an abduction, which is why law enforcement stated, "At this time, there is no evidence to suggest or support that this incident was related to a kidnapping". (See link) That doesn't mean it wasn't a murder, just that she was not abducted and taken to the location. And there has been NO new evidence since that time that does support a kidnapping (if there has been, provide a link).

There are few clues available to the public - as involved experts agree - not even release of the autopsy report.
It's nice that you have confidence in these good old boys who as of yet have not received even Debbie's phone records.

Plus nobody knows if Debbie's phone was "shut off.". That it was not functioning is sure. It may be that the phone became useless at the point of impact (it was destroyed by someone) or Debbie may have shut it off or it was drained of power and destroyed later. Nobody knows. So it's not a clue.

Perhaps the phone went dead. It is not a given she shut off her phone. Are you not reading profiler analysis such as the one provided above?
Now that the FBI is involved they can speed up access to phone records and texts, bank records, surveillance cameras, etc. I think they'll solve this case.

| by Anonymous | reply 164 | October 28, 2022 7:32 AM |
I'm really leaning towards this being an unfortunate accident.
The text and the Venmo confused things, but she was probably heading to the rehab center to pay for the daughter's boyfriend's rehab, was turned away, so she sent the money to her daughter so she could pay instead. My mom often sends me voice-to-text stream of consciousness style messages that could be interpreted multiple ways due to the lack of punctuation.
The tarp and the lighter could be because she planned to burn something and perhaps thought being in this remote area would be a good opportunity to do this discreetly. No idea what she would burn, but from the way they found her it does sound like maybe something exploded.

Amanda was (is) living in a house on Tallassee Road in Athens that Steve Collier has owned for 34 years (info is available online in public records if you know where to look). The trajectory of Mom's automobile on the fateful day is *highly* bizarre if you're familiar with the general area, as I am. The Family Dollar where Mom was filmed making her purchases is right beside the main gateway highway up to the N. Ga. mountains and North Carolina, a big tourist area, the store itself is in full view of several gas stations, there's a McDonalds right by there and a ChikfilA just up the street. It's a very out of the way place for Mom to have been unless she was going up to the mountains, which is odd. And then, later, her car is found southwest of there, not all that far away, but the reports say it was pointed NORTH, like the car had moved southward in the general direction of home (Athens) but it was parked pointing in the WRONG direction, heading north again, in a wooded area, no stores or businesses around. And Clarksville itself is out of the way if the car had been heading back down towards Athens. What a weird, weird case.
| by Anonymous | reply 191 | November 14, 2022 9:51 PM |
R191 You are correct. That dome make no sense.
| by Anonymous | reply 192 | November 14, 2022 9:55 PM |
I just looked at the maps some more. I think calling the area "Clarkesville" is incorrect or stupid. It is just south of Tallulah Falls, and the car WAS heading back to Athens, on the most direct road it could have taken, ie. the same highway that Mom had gone north to Clayton on (where the stuff was bought in the dollar store). The car was found, apparently, at the intersection of Highway 23/15/441 (it's known historically as 441, one of the old highways that goes down to Florida), and Victory Home Thriftstore Lane. There is a continuation of a dirt road across the highway, which is blocked by a chain, and that's where the car was parked and the body found. Muriel won't allow the link of the google maps view to be posted here. I think the car may have simply been parked in the turn around there facing in the wrong direction, pointing north, even though it was on the south-heading lane of the road. It's a heavily trafficked road and if someone was trying to dispose of a body there, they were pretty fucking foolhardy and were not trying very hard to avoid being seen, they didn't even pull off of the highway. (There is so much traffic on that road on the weekends that it seems almost inevitable that someone would have noticed a car parked there and whoever was there, removing things from the vehicle). AND there is the fact that Mom purchased a cigarette lighter in that store, and the tarp they found her body in. It's some kind of elaborate fake off of a murder, or a terribly clumsy attempt at suicide. If it was a murder, it's a hell of a long way to go just to get your hands on $2300. What to make of it?
