Is there any food that isn't poison?

by Anonymousreply 2December 16, 2022 4:27 AM

They're also in a lot of matcha/green teas and matés.

by Anonymousreply 4December 16, 2022 4:34 AM

All of these chocolates are made in the USA including Lindt which is made by Lindt USA not the Swiss factory.

I'd be interested to learn if Euro chocolates have these same issues.

Thanks, OP. I saw this devastating report earlier and forgot to post.

It's fucking galling they said California regulations aren't applicable when the only safe level of lead is ZERO.

by Anonymousreply 7December 16, 2022 4:50 AM

Well duh. Why do you think we named the company Cadbury?

R4, what do you mean in green tea?

Where can i find the info?

by Anonymousreply 9December 16, 2022 4:52 AM

I hope this actually resolves some contamination and quality issues. You're basically dependent upon third-party testing to find out you're consuming toxins, thanks to deregulation.

Hopefully this will silence DLers who declare they eat/cook clean and organic. No such thing in the USA.

Just eat a Stouffer's frozen lasagne and shaddup.

r9, if the soil where your tea is grown is heavy metal contaminated, your tea (chocolate, wine, whatever) will be also.

by Anonymousreply 12December 16, 2022 5:04 AM

Mmmmmmmmmm... cadmium-tainted chocolate... *drools*

by Anonymousreply 14December 16, 2022 5:26 AM

That’s why fraus are stupid, they eat too much chocolate! 😂

by Anonymousreply 15December 16, 2022 5:28 AM

[quote]if the soil where your tea is grown is heavy metal contaminated, your tea (chocolate, wine, whatever) will be also.

There is also sometimes contamination in the water teas absorb as they grow, because many of them are grown in other countries with little or no regulation. The process of smoking the leaves dry adds more carcinogens and contamination.

If you want more info, you'll have to Google for it, r9. I've seen the issues mentioned in different articles and on various sites as I've surfed the web, so I don't have specific links for you.

What about the PFAS in your plastic lasagne tray though, r11?

Maybe breatharianism is the way to go.

by Anonymousreply 17December 16, 2022 5:39 AM

What a chocolate buzz kill.

by Anonymousreply 18December 16, 2022 6:01 AM

Fuck Theo. That's the shit I buy.

Packaged chocolate containing toxins implies that everyone should just drop whole foods and eat packaged glop?

Logic isn't your strong suit, is it?

by Anonymousreply 20December 16, 2022 6:51 AM

That’s why I always go for milk over dark.

by Anonymousreply 21December 16, 2022 8:07 AM

R20. You do amuse. Read a book or watch a documentary about tainted USA food. It's inescapable.

A REAL fat whore eats MILK chocolate…

by Anonymousreply 23December 16, 2022 9:57 AM

Oh, well. You gotta die of something.

by Anonymousreply 24December 16, 2022 10:57 AM

I love Cadmium's Easter Eggs. I look forward to them every year.

So dark chocolate is bad for you? Sounds racist AF to me!

by Anonymousreply 26December 16, 2022 11:34 AM

I love these Cadmium eggs, r26, and was extremely disappointed to not find any this year.

Gasp! One was eating Trader Joe's dark chocolate this very morning!

by Anonymousreply 28December 16, 2022 1:28 PM

Fat whores alert 🚨 I eat these… I hope they aren’t impacted. So good.

Do we think it's the cadmium or lead that imparts the sour, one might say vomititious, note to Hershey's chocolate?

by Anonymousreply 30December 16, 2022 1:36 PM

What about swiss chocolate?

by Anonymousreply 31December 16, 2022 2:27 PM

A REAL fat whore eats chocolate MILK by the gallon

by Anonymousreply 32December 16, 2022 3:30 PM

A REAL fat whore doesn't give a shit! Load me up and weigh me down!

by Anonymousreply 33December 16, 2022 5:21 PM

I've been putting one teaspoon of Trader Joe's Organic Fair Trade Cacao power on my oatmeal twice a week. I wonder now if that stuff is safe to consume.

by Anonymousreply 34December 16, 2022 6:59 PM

The article doesn’t mention that the metals are naturally occurring because cacao plants absorb them from the soil, the same way rice absorbs arsenic (which CR did a similar expose of years ago.)

Is that what makes those cheaper chocolate bars smell like vomit?

I hate that smell.

by Anonymousreply 36December 16, 2022 7:55 PM

Fat whores don't eat dark chocolate; they eat milk chocolate and white chocolate.

by Anonymousreply 37December 16, 2022 7:58 PM

There’s no guaranty that a brand that measures low today will continue to measure low. I’m sure they get raw ingredients from different sources over time.

by Anonymousreply 38December 16, 2022 9:22 PM

r29 - Oh honey, no. Heavy metal poisoning should be the least of your health concerns...

by Anonymousreply 39December 16, 2022 9:42 PM

just grow all the food you eat yourself and you won't have that problem!

by Anonymousreply 40December 16, 2022 9:50 PM

I gave up milk chocolate years ago specifically because all you ever heard was that dark chocolate was so "healthy." Motherfuckers. I'm going back to my beloved kitkat. Fuck the expensive, "high-quality" "USDA Organic" BULL. SHIT!
