International superstar, but has only done a few concerts, let alone live performances or interviews. Work is timeless, despite the schmaltz, and keeps on giving. Has almost no public persona beyond the persona shown in her work. Rolling in cash and lives in complete privacy.

R2/NWV, yeah. Nothing personal against Randy Newman, but I didn't think his song made the impact that year that Enya's did. I wonder if some Oscar voters decided to give it to him because he had been nominated so many times before without winning.

I love Enya. She basically has churned out the same album for 30 odd years, but when the music is that beautiful, who cares. Her music is like a balm for these crazy, stressful, turbulent times. I also love the fact she doesn’t play the celebrity/fame-whoring game. As an introvert I’d be the very same.

I don’t think celebrity has much to do with her or her method of producing and monetizing her music. Rather it’s how she does it. Celebrity is a by product of fame of some type. Some people handle it well and even use it for the good (Newman, Taylor, Streisand, Fonda, Streep, Redford etc) and some don’t (Kardasians, Depp, etc.)
