To me, he seems like one of those people we're TOLD is a big deal, but who really isn't. He's got good numbers but only compared to other late night shows. He gets 2M viewers (or did in 2022, I couldn't find recent numbers) but in comparison, shows like "NCIS" get 7M viewers.
There are always tons of news articles about his show but I don't know a single person who knows who he is, and none of the social media or forums I go to ever talk about him, except the very rare thread here on DL. I think the only time I heard about him outside of a "Gutfeld is the king of late night! Honest!" article was when people mentioned Leslie Jordan had recently been on his show just before he died.
