Hound of Hell' so criminally underrated?

Why didn't Kim Richards get an Emmy for her performance in this 1978 horror classic?

I skipped trick-or-treating on Halloween 1978 to stay home and watch this scary movie.

It was strange to see Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann as characters other than Tony and Tia!

Why wasn't she nominated for guest actor for her iconic crossover appearance on Hello Larry/ Diff'rent Strokes?

That same year in 1978, Kim and Ike got to work with the legendary Bette Davis!

It was overshadowed by Kristy McNichol’s White Dog.

Because it is basically a rip-off of "Devil Gerbil: Gerbils of Sheol" that came out a year earlier with Dick van Patten and Adrienne Barbeau.

No 'Devil Cat: Feline of Baphomet'?

Kim was such a cute and talented actress back then. It's a shame shes a cracked out ho these days.

This movie is so much fun. I love the cheap special devil dog effects at the end, and Yvette Mimieux's scornful revelation to the dumb husband. It's a great Halloween double feature along with Gargoyles (1972).

I've never seen it myself but I remember a friend who smoked a lot of pot describing how hilarious it was to watch high. UFOs Are Real, however, was reportedly NOT.

I watched it too, OP! It follows me to this day. Haunting performances all around and a whopping ending.

I looked at my German Shepherd with a little fear after that Halloween 1978...

by Anonymousreply 12April 6, 2020 12:11 AM

German Shepherds ARE demon dogs. They even look like the devil.

HOW did I miss this movie???? Devil Dog, where have you been my entire life?

by Anonymousreply 16April 7, 2020 8:51 PM

I loved this movie, and it still ranks in the top five among the "All-Time Great Titles" Hall of Fame."

Another great angry dog tv-flick was the one with James Brolin "Trapped" overnight by a squad of department store security Dobermans.

A classic OP. Saw this as a kid too. I can't believe how fun TV movies used to be.

If only there was a way to find out, R20.....

Ike mostly works behind the scenes now but he did a cameo in the Rock version of Escape to Witch Mountain. Time has not been kind

"German Shepherds ARE demon dogs. They even look like the devil."

Aw, don't say that. I had a lovely German shepherd named Bandit.

He almost never murdered.

Is the REAL 'Suspiria' streaming anywhere?

(NOT the dreadful remake).

by Anonymousreply 26October 17, 2020 4:20 PM

Kim was a shoo-in for an Emmy nomination, but her jealous cunt sister Kyle went around and slept with half the voters to get them to change their votes. What a FAT WHORE!

Since it is October, would someone make a thread devoted to made-for-TV horror movies of the 1970s and 80s? I mean, would could just use this thread to continue the discussion of Trilogy of Terror with Karen Black ... or Haunts of the Very Rich ... or Night Gallery ... or The Screaming Woman with Olivia De Haviland ... or Scream Pretty Peggy ... or Bad Ronald ... or The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane with Jodie Foster (which was a theatrical release that feels more like a TV movie) ... or The Initiation of Sarah with Shelley Winters ... or The Devil's Triangle with Kim Novak ... I could go on and on about them.

P.S. After seeing him in so many camp horror and gay themed drama TV movies, I was disappointed to learn that Scott Jacoby was straight.

Don't forget The Spell, starting DL icons Lee Grant and Helen Hunt!

German Shepherds are scary ugly, so no wonder they used one for this movie.
