Zaslav is not a guy hired to be CEO. He engineered (or was part of a team that engineered) buying Warner Media from AT&T for $43 billion plus taking over some debt and merged it with his company Discovery. Zaslav was to remain CEO.
Whenever companies are bought out, they acquire huge debt. Its like having a credit card with a giant balance. So you have to slash costs. That's why every time a company like Pizza Hut or Dunkin Donuts gets sold, the quality goes down because they can't afford to do things like make donuts in every store or make pizzas with fresh ingredients. Anyway, Zaslav has to do something similar with Warner, which includes Warner Bros studios AND HBO and other cable channels. Or at least he has an idea what he wants to do with them.
CEOs who fuck with movie studios tend not to end up getting what they want. Just like when movie studios hire people from outside the system to cut costs and shake things up, they are usually run out of town in under 2 years.

Tokata wasn't kidnapped. As soon she turned 18 Tokata dropped out of the private school which Ezra was paying for. Her parents allowed her to attend a school in Massachusetts that was near Ezra's home. I think that was a ruse and the plan was always for Tokata to move in with Ezra.

In January 2022 Tokata moved in with Ezra without telling her parents. They found out when someone called and told them their daughter had overdosed on LSD. Tokata was with Ezra and in bad shape. She had no phone, driver's license or debit card. So her parents took her back to South Dakota to detox.
Soon as Tokata recovered her senses she told her family she wanted to go to New York to meet some friends. They didn't know the friend she wanted to meet was Ezra. They flew to Hawaii and that's where the story blew up.
