I wish she was my best friend.

Lmao even her introduction is hilarious! Look at her reaction to the moving set stopping!

I love her! She looks like a Gunner girl in a Marcia Wallace wig.

by Anonymousreply 2August 8, 2020 12:59 AM

Damn autocorrect. Gummer girl.

by Anonymousreply 3August 8, 2020 12:59 AM

Evie should have been a big star.

Evie (pronounced Ev-eeee) looks like Evie (pronouned Eve-ee) Harris, but with a dark wig.

by Anonymousreply 6August 8, 2020 1:27 AM

I do think Jack Plotnick based his Evie on her look.

by Anonymousreply 10August 8, 2020 2:37 AM

I liked her. It was really a shame how her life went after her appearances on Match Game.

what happened r11? obscurity?

by Anonymousreply 12August 8, 2020 1:38 PM

We're a little bit Evie - especially in these trying times.

by Anonymousreply 13August 8, 2020 2:11 PM

Oh no, she really DID just pass away! She seems like a fun lady.

Oops, she died in 2011, the current comments on the obituary made me think it was recent. My goodness, nearly a decade of comments from fans.

by Anonymousreply 16August 8, 2020 2:25 PM

That was awful, the poor lady is dead but the contestants were all making fun of her. I wish she would've kicked them in their cunt/penors and whatever the homosexual ones had.

Making spoof of people isn't cool.

Match game was my favorite game show growing up. I remember getting the game show channel when I was in college, and I used to have it on constantly in my dorm. I remember clearly that episode, and many others, that I still watch on youtube. Sometimes those stars could be such assholes, going for the laugh and never caring about matching the contestant and being so unkind. I think the kindest was Richard. I read his biography, and he was actually a dedicated family man, and very kind and decent. Poor Evie - she was so nervous, I thought she'd wet herself (maybe she did).

I fuckn loved her episodes.

by Anonymousreply 19August 9, 2020 4:43 AM

I'm gonna spend the whole day thinking about her.

by Anonymousreply 20August 10, 2020 11:27 AM

She's a live wire, that one.

Thanks, OP! I woke up in a complete Covid/economy/Trump panic this morning. I have no idea what compelled me to watch this, because I've never liked game shows, but I'm glad I did. It lifted me out of my panic. Not sure why, but it worked.

you're so welcome. my focus is now to help myself and others during this time of covid uncertainty find humor and peace of mind.

I never liked nor trusted Gene Rayburn. I always had the strangest feeling that he probably participated in some weird sex after the show - something involving porcines and Yugoslavian hermaphrodites.

by Anonymousreply 27August 10, 2020 1:15 PM

She was only 30 years old?! But so carsimatic.

by Anonymousreply 28August 10, 2020 2:57 PM

She is fabulous! Gone too soon.. but hoping her family knows the gays have brought her back to life again!

From watching this, I’m convinced Rachel Dratch based Debbie Downer on Evie. She had the same facial expressions.

by Anonymousreply 30August 11, 2020 12:54 AM

Ah, r30. It all looked so familiar. You’re right. Debbie Downer is Evie.

You can almost smell the booze and Pall Malls. I loved this show.
