Do you think there is a difference between them? I grew up in the northwest (raised Catholic) and went to a Catholic university in NYC, so I have glimpses into both of those regions. It seems to me that east coast Catholics are generally more conservative--maybe not politically, but in their general manner and conduct. In the northwest, I knew a lot of progressive hippie-ish Catholics, whereas the Catholics in the northeast seemed much more of the stodgy country club breed--this could be a misconception I guess, but it seemed that way.

East, west, north, or south, practicing Catholics are all the same. Delusional.

Were there a lot of Catholics in the Pacific Northwest, OP?
Were they all descended from large immigrant communities and are there many areas (as in the Northeast) that are predominantly Catholic?
Start there.

Southwest Catholics are more liberal, and more slutty.
