High Point, North Carolina, pastor was arrested last week after allegedly assaulting and attempting to push his wife’s co-worker’s head into a McDonald’s deep fryer, according to police.
The High Point Police Department reported that on Dec. 28, a woman was training to be a manager at the S. Main Street McDonald’s location when her employees were “disrespecting” her.
As a result, the woman called her husband, 57-year-old Dwayne Waden, to help with the situation.
Witnesses told police that when Waden arrived, he walked into the McDonald’s then around the counter before placing his hands around the victim’s neck.
After grabbing the victim’s neck, Waden allegedly pushed the victim’s head toward one of the restaurant’s deep fryers, police said.
Waden also punched the victim several times in the face, police allege, and did not stop striking the victim until multiple employees were able to pull Waden off of the victim.
The victim reportedly suffered a “large contusion” to the forehead and right eye, police wrote, as well as scratches on his neck.
Emergency crews arrived on the scene, though the victim had his family drive him to the hospital instead.
Waden notes on his Facebook page that he is both a semi-truck driver and a pastor at Elevated Life International Ministries.

I’m not seeing this the same way as everyone else. It’s obvious that the wife isn’t cut out to be a manager at McDonalds, but I suspect the kid deserved it and if she were just training to be a manager there should have been some on-site support for her or at least a way for her to get help internally. I’m guessing the husband likes to see himself as a problem solver for others and lives close and felt humiliated that his wife was getting hassled at work AT MCDONALDS. So, yeah, pathetic. But he drives a semi and that is not entirely unskilled and she was at least trying to be successful at a new job. Losers, but not degenerates.
I think I’m sympathetic because at times I’ve considered teaching as a second career (summers off and I could do it until I’m 70), but then I realize that even in the affluent school districts I imagine myself in after 6 or 7 years I’d eventually lose it with a student or, more likely, a parent. I know a kid considering commissioning in the military after college graduation and it’s the same thing. I fear he’s not cut out for it. Some people have difficulty handling authority when their standards exceed the norm in the environment. Anyone remember parents doing bus duty during field trips? Or the substitute teachers who actually tried to teach?
It doesn’t mean the person can’t be highly effective and competent in a different setting, or that they are a bad person.
Also, we don’t know what the wife was experiencing. It’s possible the employee was sexually harassing her in a pretty extreme way that just didn’t rise to the level of her calling the police. Yes, the husband deserves to be arrested and prosecuted. I just don’t think the husband deserves the new coverage. This should have been local gossip.
