David O. Russell is worse than Will Smith.

Endless on set abuse and even sexually assaulted his niece. Yet Hollywood still gives him a free pass.

But I didn't assault anyone Live on TV!

I don't know what you're talking about, OP.

Four possibilities:

1. Hollywood is hardcore racist.

2. Russell is really lucky with timing.

3. Russell has a lot of friends.

4. Russell is blackmailing key Hollywood figures and/or paying them off,

The 5th possibility is Hollywood doesn’t give a shit unless something comes out public like Harvey and then they scatter like cockroaches.

Yes it is strange. He is seen as hugely talented so maybe that's the free pass I would say. He has addressed the niece issue though I believe? But that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

did he do it live at the Oscars on worldwide television? maybe that's a factor?

This is the new deflection. I’ve seen people bringing up Brad Pitt and his kid on the plane. I guess this is the way for sloppy black people who lack any accountability and despise white people to act like Smith’s behavior was acceptable in any way after their attempts to make it seem like mocking a black woman’s hair is a crime worse than murder was mocked and dismissed almost immediately.

Playing whataboutism with this is trashy and just speaks to a toxic culture that normalizes acts of violence. It reminds me of that weird bragging people do like “If that was me, my mama woulda whooped my ass!”

Your mama is violent ghetto trash and so are you. None of this behavior is normal or acceptable.

R10 Depends on whom you ask. There are a glut of people willing to rationalize, excuse, deflect from and even justify "this behavior", and in doing so, making it very much "normal and "acceptable".

There are worse people in Hollywood than Will Smith. People who’ve done FAR worse things than smack another man in the face.

But the fact that millions of people witnessed it means it can’t be denied or played off as a “he-said/she-said”. Everyone saw it with their own eyes. The events were recorded and witnessed.

If we’re whatabouting: Winona Ryder got cancelled for shoplifting. She didn’t work for years after that. For shoplifting. And we didn’t even see the video of it.

R10 you're the one that's trash.

My theory as to why the mainstream media leaves him alone: They don't want to humiliate all the stars working with him. In my view, only thing that makes sense. It was the same deal with Harvey Weinstein for years.

Who is this dumb straggot, OP?

by Anonymousreply 15April 29, 2022 5:56 AM

R10 White people are very see no evil, hear no evil.

Just look at the Catholic Church. Parents hushed up their kids molestations as much as the Vatican did. Think of how many children would have been saved had parents spoken out over the DECADES. They knew, that’s how why the priests were getting moved around. Even the victims were paid off and let others get raped.

So I’m not interested in acting like white people are so high and mighty. The Catholic Church scandal is one of the most disgusting crimes in modern history.

My theory on his upcoming movie Amsterdam: The tea from the test screening is not so hot. I think official reviews will be mixed to negative. Mediocre to bad box office/streaming numbers. Largely, if not totally ignored by awards bodies. Damien Chazelle's "Babylon" (also starring Margot Robbie) will probably overshadow it as well (from reading the script and early trailer reports, that film is going to be insane). All the big stars will sort of pretend like "Amsterdam" didn't happen ad come away unscathed. Hopefully, DOR will retire for good.
