OMG, what a mess. I'm sure none of "how she is" is new to many DLers. But I actually haven't heard her interviewed in a long time. And, I always enjoyed Courtney and her performative bad girl schtick and her needling of people as entertainment. But, man, was she fairly insufferable during this interview. She's of course all over the place and talking a mile a minute. She's obsessed with name dropping. Obsessed. A question that has nothing to do with Drew Barrymore or Stella McCartney or Anthony Keidis or Carrie Fisher were answered with references to Drew Barrymore or Stella McCartney or Anthony Keidis or Carrie Fisher - to name but a few of many, many people she referenced. She's also really playing up how she comes from money and is Jewish from one side of her family. She went deep into Edward Norton's family and how rich they were and how much his grandfather loved her. She talked a little about music, but not much. Apparently she has a black brother than her mom adopted and gave back or something. Also, she says she's in communication with Kanye and basically supports him and thinks he's misunderstood.
It maybe could have been entertaining if it wasn't so random and haphazard. That's part of her charm, but this was ramped up a lot.

The interviews are edited, so we may not know completely. He seemed to understand going in the task at hand and how Courtney is. So he seemed patient and "whatever" to her rants and sidebars. He just let her ride and never really questioned her intensely on her various claims and accusations - seemingly knowing that he'd never get a straight answer out of her.

I had to slow the narration speed down from my usual 1.5x to 1.3x because I couldn’t keep up.
Hilarious click bait reach with all the “Fincher & I was cast in Fight Club” gossip nobody asked for.
I loved the few times Maron ventured a question - pointlessly - Love is silent and considers it for a moment. I liked that when he referred to some programme or acronym that she wasn’t aware of, she says, “What’s that?” Sounds like a total force of nature.
I loved the “Kurt The Ruiner” chat - it’s nice to see how far she’s come to have that much perspective on it. It was knowing enough that you knew she was in on the joke, as if this was just one of multi-purposes for a 1st husband who took his own life.
It sounds exhausting being Courtney Love. I will definitely buy her memoir.

I enjoyed it. She truly is a shameless name dropper. But she can be insightful and certainly has a kind of chaotic charisma. I actually enjoyed that she got Maron to pipe down a little, he inserts himself too much in most of his interviews.
I liked her description of her musical profile as "Goth Girl Nick Cave with Wings choruses."
Definitely interested to hear the new record.

I don't know much about her parents. She got into it a little bit here, but was, of course, on to the next topic and tangent before she could get to deep. I think what truly bothered me is that she couldn't finish an arc. She could be really interesting and engaging (she has been in the past) if she could tighten if up a little. Her Nick Cave obsession was cute and funny. "If Nick Cave's not doing it, I'm not doing it."
R15 has a good point about Maron. He usually does really put himself front and center in the interview along with the guest - it doesn't usually bother me, it's his style. But here there were long stretches where he was just repeatedly saying "uh huh." Lol. You could see the "WTF?" thought bubble above his head.

(1) I've enjoyed their music and/or acting
(2) Both are in many cases their own worst enemies, BUT;
(3) I am constantly amazed that after their childhoods, filled with serious abuse and/or neglect, that either one of them can function at ANY level, in ANY way, shape or form in anything resembling normal behavior, let alone be create and sing/compose music.

She talked a little bit about her new record. She said it's not a rock record because no one is really "doing rock" anymore, but she didn't really describe what that means. I think she said she's been working with Linda Perry again as a co-songwriter. She said she wrote a two-minute punk song called "Justice for Kurt" but she's not putting it on the record because it would get all the attention at the expense of the rest of the work.

r49 she's been in conspiracy mode as well... and claiming to be she who knows all, when it comes to any celebrity gossip, especially crime (some well before her fame) and using it to push why "they" don't want to publish her biopic on Kurt, which apparently now she thinks a conspiracy got him killed - she doesn't elaborate, and most of the videos, looks/sounds like someone at the apex of a speedball and/or serious mental health issues,.
only trash (inquirer, sun)rags picked it up the videos but trim to to 30 sec clips, though mainstream (dailyfail) reference what she's said in them. They're hard to source to which accounts - looks in tiktok format but she speaks as if it's twitter and most peeps just point to instagram and says she hasn't banned her yet. April of 2022 seemed to be prolific time period of these posts. Seems to be her pattern "Spring" for other years too.
