I'm from Atlanta, I've partied on and gone swimming in that lake a 100 times without incident. I think this is just an extended version of "Florida Man" on Lake Lanier

I’m genuinely confused. A lake near a black community has had black people drown there. Is this somehow a white conspiracy against them?
Or is it the lake that is racist?
Don’t go in the water without a life jacket and or close supervision if you can’t swim well. That’s a rule for all, regardless of skin color.

I read up on it now. I’m r2. I get that this would hold terrible feelings for black people.
But the stuff I’m seeing online about curses and all that. It’s just superstitious garbage. A lake that size anywhere would have drownings every year.

Tyler Perry references an ominous lake in one of his Madea movies that is totally a take on Lake Lanier

I thought that *every* lake in alligator country was an accursed lake!

If you’re in a lake at someplace called Margaritaville something bad is bound to happen.
Four people have drowned in the Lake since Memorial Day, including three in one week. It does have a reputation for drownings.

Well, the "lake" (actually a reservoir) IS named after "The Poet of the Confederacy." So it comes with a lot of bad juju.

Lake Ronkonkoma on Log Island was supposedly cursed too... I lived close by and dont remember it having any more drownings than any other place

It's creepy as hell at night. That lake has bad vibes and always has. We went for weekend stays all of the time when I was a kid and I hated to spend the weekend because I dreaded the dark, eerie nights. Many murders have been committed there and many bodies dumped into the lake.
