A new gay Hallmark film

It's not getting the same attention as the previous ones.

What’s the gay connection?

by Anonymousreply 1February 8, 2021 12:51 PM

Jeremy Jordan apparently plays twins, one of whom is gay.

Comment from one youtuber-

[quote] I cannot stress enough how absolutely shit this looks, and how beyond excited I am to watch it.

by Anonymousreply 3February 8, 2021 12:56 PM

Ooh. Callum Blue. I always thought he was hot and he's gay apparently.

by Anonymousreply 4February 8, 2021 12:57 PM

The straight twin has to take the place of his gay twin brother, and then the gay twin's husband shows up. It's in the clip.

Comment from another Youtuber and obvious MAGA:

Dear Hallmark,

Will not be watching... really? Why are you going this route.. very disturbing and disappointing. I liked watching Hallmark because it was family friendly! Sad!!!

by Anonymousreply 6February 8, 2021 1:02 PM

Do we know when this is being released? I'll watch it. It looks like silly fun. It couldn't be worse than the Christmas movie was.

by Anonymousreply 8February 8, 2021 1:05 PM

I'm sure one of our DL'ers came up with something similar as a plot point in the legendary "Let's be a Jennifer Aniston film" thread. The plot line dealing with twin brothers, one of them gay and the other straight, I mean.

by Anonymousreply 9February 8, 2021 1:20 PM

Of course not. Pioneers get all the attention. Then it becomes de rigeur, which is the goal.

by Anonymousreply 10February 8, 2021 1:39 PM

This was the plot of a Canadian youtube series about ten years ago

by Anonymousreply 11February 8, 2021 2:24 PM

..except in that one the husbear wasn't in on it an d the straight twin had to go through with the homosex!

by Anonymousreply 12February 8, 2021 2:56 PM

why is Callum Blue still in the closet?

by Anonymousreply 13February 8, 2021 3:06 PM

Does Jeremy show his ass? Has he done so before?

by Anonymousreply 16February 10, 2021 11:52 PM

Do these right wing Christian house frauen not realize every gay person is also from a family?

by Anonymousreply 17February 10, 2021 11:55 PM

OMM must be blowing a gasket.

by Anonymousreply 18February 10, 2021 11:55 PM

🤔 Hallmark & Gay?

Fascinating . . . . . . .

by Anonymousreply 19February 10, 2021 11:59 PM

I like that plot twist better, R12!

by Anonymousreply 20February 11, 2021 12:16 AM

Jeremy mentioned it in his recent online Seth Rudetsky-hosted concert with his wife Ashley Spencer, who's also a talented singer. It sounds absurd, but he can turn on 'the gay' at the drop of a hat. Always thought he was gay, but Ashley did pop out a baby. Would that Jeremy had a gay twin; such a cutey.

(Video is for reference, not the mentioned concert.)

A cooking competition, you say? Groundbreaking!

Why is Judith Light wearing George Burns' old glasses?

by Anonymousreply 23February 11, 2021 4:24 AM

Jessica's doing Hallmark movies?? You would think Jon Lovitz would be able to help a girl out.

by Anonymousreply 24February 11, 2021 10:00 AM

When is this released do we know?

by Anonymousreply 25February 11, 2021 10:07 AM

I should have Googled... Released 20 Feb according to IMBD.

This ungodliness really rips my knitting! Will no one think of the children?

by Anonymousreply 27February 11, 2021 10:13 AM

That's so sad for you R27.

Were you knitting crotchless panties? They'd be scratchy.

by Anonymousreply 28February 11, 2021 10:15 AM

Why, would you like a pair r28?

by Anonymousreply 29February 11, 2021 12:56 PM

Which twin has the Tony?

(Neither one -- Jeremy has one nomination.)

He's not.

by Anonymousreply 32February 17, 2021 5:39 AM

This is the epitome of "Bread and Circus."

And I am HERE FOR IT!

I would even lay out snacks.

by Anonymousreply 33February 17, 2021 5:46 AM

It starts at 9 this evening (ET).

by Anonymousreply 34February 21, 2021 12:23 AM

[quote] It's not getting the same attention as the previous ones.

Did anybody actually watch the "previous ones"? I don't believe I've seen even a hint about the ratings.

by Anonymousreply 35February 21, 2021 12:46 AM

The previous one was a Christmas movie, which are Hallmark's bread-anbd-butter. The off-season movies don't get as much attention.

by Anonymousreply 36February 21, 2021 12:55 AM

I watched this last night and it is exactly what you expect from a Hallmark movie. The gay couple was sanitized, I don't think I recall them kissing once, mostly just hands on the shoulders and a few hugs. The straight twin has a full on makeout session to end the movie. It is standard Hallmark fare, entertaining if you're into that sort of thing. The female lead while not a good actress by any stretch of the imagination, was lightyears better than she was on the 90201 reboot years ago (the first reboot not the meta reboot with the original cast). I've seen her in other Hallmark movies and she is about as talented as most other Hallmark stars.

There was another recent Hallmark movie called Beverly Hills Wedding that had a gay subplot. The wedding planner was gay and his husband featured in several scenes.

by Anonymousreply 37February 23, 2021 4:48 PM

I thought I saw one quick, chaste kiss on the cheek, R37, in Sunday's movie. I guess, for Hallmark, that's progress.

by Anonymousreply 39February 23, 2021 5:35 PM

You left out the autofellatio fisting scene with the family gathered around, R37.

by Anonymousreply 40February 23, 2021 5:40 PM

Is “nu gay” the French pronunciation of nougat?

I'd totally watch this. Did anyone?

by Anonymousreply 44February 23, 2021 9:15 PM

We NEED to watch this (and all gay Hallmark movies) because if the ratings aren’t good, they will assume there is no market and stop making movies for us. So support your community.

What makes you think any ratings company is tracking your viewing habits?

by Anonymousreply 48February 24, 2021 12:34 AM

I watched it and liked it a lot. Typical Hallmark stuff, but Jeremy Jordan was great at playing two distinct and different characters.

There wasn’t any gay sex, but these movies don’t have straight sex either. The fact is one twin was clearly gay and clearly happy to be in a committed gay relationship.

Any message sent was a good one. And yeah, Jordan still looks good.

by Anonymousreply 49February 24, 2021 7:55 AM

I gave up once the gay brother was introduced and he was stereotype city. Jeremy played the straight one as a man and the gay as a prissy queen. So original

Another reason to hate that bitch.

by Anonymousreply 52February 24, 2021 11:59 AM

I'm not watching this because it looks boring and predictable. Maybe if it had a fantasy or horror theme I would watch it.

by Anonymousreply 53February 24, 2021 12:07 PM

[quote]I'm not watching this because it looks boring and predictable

"Boring" and "predictable" are the hallmarks of Hallmark movies.

by Anonymousreply 54February 24, 2021 4:48 PM

When is "Mix Up in the Men's Room" airing?

by Anonymousreply 55February 24, 2021 6:02 PM

[Quote] "Boring" and "predictable" are the hallmarks of Hallmark movies.

True of all studio product. Sometimes I like it boring and predictable. There are after all only 36 scripts in Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 56February 24, 2021 8:41 PM

So many shit gay films. Why is thi s? JFC

by Anonymousreply 57February 24, 2021 8:59 PM

R57 It's a Hallmark movie, it was always going to be crappy. It's been a couple of years since I watched Hallmark movies. My parents are into them and a couple of years ago I stayed with them around Christmas time and later on when they needed help fixing some things. The movies on Hallmark come off as rated G versions of theatrical rom-coms. Hallmark movies don't show couples in bed, there aren't any sex jokes, and the cinematography sucks in these movies. There's a thread somewhere on reddit in which people who have worked for Hallmark spilled the dirt. They said that production is always rushed and most people on set aren't all that happy and crew members usually aren't paid well. I remember one post from a guy who lived in Florida who said that Hallmark filmed a movie in his city. The guy was an extra and was told to shave his beard off for some reason.

Not according to me, and I had a major role in a Hallmark Christmas movie a couple years ago. I was not unhappy at all. Our entire cast and crew seemed happy to be there. It was a fun shoot in my book.

Yes, the money isn't always great. They are often filmed using the low-budget SAG-AFTRA contract, but the budgets are often pretty low, yet the contracts contain rules about hiring women and minority actors for at least 50% of the main roles. Many Hallmark films seek out states where big tax advantages are offered, this gives actors not based in Los Angeles a shot at a decent role in a widely-seen tv film.

I hope to do another one!
