WTF has Kristin Davis done to her face?

She is looking like fat Liz Taylor more everyday.

And LOL at Sarah Jessica Parker calling in to ask a Question about SATC. That woman is obsessed with that show and movie. LET IT GO ALREADY SJP. ITS OVER.

I bet she is the one that made those questions for Andy to ask.

Looks like fillers. She doesn't look horrible but if she continues she will look awful.

by Anonymousreply 1November 15, 2019 6:26 AM

Lol SJP is determined to milk that SATC cash cow in perpetuity.

by Anonymousreply 2November 15, 2019 6:30 AM

Kristen really is so much like Charlotte, so very little acting involved. Kim actually did the most impressive actual acting on that show, given her character is not like the actress.

by Anonymousreply 3November 15, 2019 6:34 AM

I like that Kim said Samanthas clothing was her least favorite of the cast.

by Anonymousreply 4November 15, 2019 6:38 AM

R4 that's because Kristen could never do any of those clothes justice, she's shaped like a barrel with the hips of a long distance trucker

by Anonymousreply 5November 15, 2019 7:11 AM

I thought Kristin looked lovely and came across well, too. I never warmed to SJP as a person although I really like her Lovely perfume.

by Anonymousreply 6November 15, 2019 7:18 AM

Cynthia Nixon had the most horrible clothes (and hair) by far, as well as humiliating storylines, eg, baby poop and projectile semen on her face. The producers must have hated her.

by Anonymousreply 7November 15, 2019 7:52 AM

R7 I'm sorry but that scene is a classic.

by Anonymousreply 8November 15, 2019 11:24 AM

She had projectile semen in her hair but it looks like a women is sitting next to her. Is she having a threesome with SJP?

by Anonymousreply 9November 15, 2019 12:26 PM

No, R9, she is at a Tantric Sex workshop, and the teacher is demonstrating the techniques on her husband, who lying on the floor in front of the three friends.

by Anonymousreply 10November 15, 2019 12:34 PM

God. Could cunt Andy BE more coked up?

by Anonymousreply 11November 15, 2019 12:58 PM

Wasn't a fan of Davis or maybe it was her character I didn't like. She kept yammering on finding the perfect man and having the perfect family. Then when she gets Harry, all she does is worry that he's sleeping with the nanny.

by Anonymousreply 12November 15, 2019 1:29 PM

Is her ass still fat? Or did that flatten out like her new-dishpan face?

by Anonymousreply 13November 15, 2019 1:39 PM

She’s did that stretched upper lip thing.

Big fail.

by Anonymousreply 14November 15, 2019 1:40 PM

Too much fillers. Fillers can do wonders but they should only take the edge off. It should be a very slight improvement but not a "correction" of the perceived flaw. Women (and men) should not look younger after fillers - just terrific for whatever age they're at. I think that's the mistake most people use. Give me more, dammit! I want to look 15 years younger!

by Anonymousreply 15November 15, 2019 2:09 PM

Notice she keeps her hands by her face a lot and is grinning maniacally the majority of the time. She knows she overdid it and is trying to distract.

by Anonymousreply 16November 15, 2019 2:10 PM

She seems nice but... I don’t know. She looks odd.

Also, she is the least like her character. Kristen is known for having a potty mouth and being sassy. She’s even less like her character than Kim.

by Anonymousreply 17November 15, 2019 2:57 PM

[quote]Also, she is the least like her character. Kristen is known for having a potty mouth and being sassy.

Only the same sense as the office Karen. And, no, she's quite like Charlotte -- Darren Star, an old friend, created the role for her -- Cattrall is the only one who's in any way different from her character. In real life, Cattrall is more reserved and irreverent. Carrie was supposed to be different but ended up being swallowed whole by SJP.

by Anonymousreply 18November 15, 2019 3:03 PM

Botox/Dysport can be great if done well. I have never seen fillers look good - ever. From Madonna, to Melanie Griffith to Courtney Cox. Fillers make women look like burn victims or monsters.

by Anonymousreply 19November 15, 2019 3:16 PM

She looks fine. she’s a lot older now so obviously will not looks exactly like her SATC era . And SJp asking a scripted SATC related question. God to know they’re still friends.

by Anonymousreply 20November 15, 2019 3:28 PM

Fillers arose because of a lot of women who wanted to look young also wanted to look thin. Fillers give the impression of plumpness while keeping a slim figure, theoretically.

Davis has enough fat to not benefit though.

by Anonymousreply 21November 15, 2019 3:30 PM

[quote]And SJp asking a scripted SATC related question. God to know they’re still friends.

I assume, in part, because Davis knows that's really all she's known for. She needs to keep beating the horse (pardon the pun) as much as SJP.

And SJP rules the roost with that property.

by Anonymousreply 22November 15, 2019 3:32 PM

Davis is also known for Melrose Place.

by Anonymousreply 23November 15, 2019 3:38 PM

I don't think anyone is really familiar with MP these days.

And I say that as a big MP fan!

by Anonymousreply 24November 15, 2019 3:41 PM

R18 what was Carrie sopposed to be OK?

by Anonymousreply 27November 15, 2019 5:50 PM

When the show was conceived Carrie was supposed to be wry, sardonic, and somewhat cynical. SJP did play the character that way in the early seasons. Think of the early breaking the fourth wall questions to the viewers.

However, as the show went on (and she became a producer) Carrie and SJP seemed to actually merge into one person. Neurotic, twee, inexplicably romantic.

It happened to the show itself to. It started out as a show for gay men, kind of bleak in its worldview, though daringly yet dryly comic at times. Then it gradually became a frau fantasy show.

by Anonymousreply 28November 15, 2019 6:02 PM

There have been a few other good threads about the show and what went wrong (SJP's ego).

I don't know if the last film even rose to the level of frau fantasty porn. It was basically just a very long fashion show.

by Anonymousreply 29November 15, 2019 6:03 PM

I liked the series more from season 4-6 (When SJP became Executive Producer)

by Anonymousreply 30November 15, 2019 6:15 PM

Are you a straight woman, R30?

by Anonymousreply 31November 15, 2019 6:17 PM

Bitch knows the only reason she's even on Andy Cohen's show is because he's one of SJP's pet gays. It's not like she has any new project to talk about.

by Anonymousreply 34November 15, 2019 8:11 PM

R34 she has a Christmas movie on Netflix

by Anonymousreply 35November 15, 2019 8:13 PM

Don't expect to see Kim on it talking about her latest project.

by Anonymousreply 36November 15, 2019 8:26 PM

R35, she'll be the queen of Hallmark movies soon, now that Loughlin is going to jail.

by Anonymousreply 37November 15, 2019 8:30 PM

OMG, that call in from SJP to 3 of her little lapdogs (Andy, Kristin, JB Hickey) was excruciating. Hickey will allegedly be "directing" SJP and Mr. SJP on Broadway in the spring. That will be a live abortion on the Great White Way.

I can't wait.

Say, Sarah, don't you think it's time for an official "DIVORCE" from your Carrie character of 20-odd years ago? Or maybe a trial separation?

Hee.

by Anonymousreply 38November 15, 2019 8:57 PM

The Netflix movie features cute animals in Africa.

by Anonymousreply 39November 15, 2019 9:02 PM

My friend managed a hair salon during the run of SATC. She said Kristin was a CUNT! Asked that no one looked at her or spoke to her, could only have a certain brown color of hair because of the show and then complained that it looked boring after they'd color it. My friend said the nicest and sexiest client they had was Gabriel Byrne.

by Anonymousreply 40November 15, 2019 9:10 PM

I just watched Gabriel Byrne in Little Women

by Anonymousreply 41November 15, 2019 9:12 PM

Vintage gossip:

“ Davis, Kristin. "Snotty and spoiled." Recovering alcoholic. Linked with Alec Baldwin and Jeff Goldblum.”

“ Name-Kristin Davis Dirt-attitude problem with fans; acts like a dry drunk, nasty to hair and makeup people on Sex and the City set; very sensitive about pear-shaped figure; likes to be shot from the waste up “

by Anonymousreply 42November 15, 2019 9:28 PM

She's looking more like Stockard Channing, rather than _Elizabeth_ Taylor.

by Anonymousreply 43November 15, 2019 9:40 PM

That’s exactly why i say she is not Charlotte. Charlotte went above and beyond to be nice to most people. Kristen was an alcoholic, sex crazed cunt to everyone

by Anonymousreply 44November 15, 2019 9:40 PM

Too many fillers!

Sad to see this but not unexpected.

Hope Kristin doesn't go overboard.

by Anonymousreply 46November 15, 2019 9:43 PM

I think she looks a lot like Mimi Rogers here. But with crazy eyes.

by Anonymousreply 47November 15, 2019 9:44 PM

She seems to have pulled her eyes ups bit too high...other than that, she looks decent

by Anonymousreply 48November 15, 2019 9:48 PM

Saw her on Andy's show and she's as annoying and sickly sweet as her Sex In The City character. I couldn't watch it.

by Anonymousreply 49November 15, 2019 9:48 PM

I can imagine Charlotte being a bitch demanding to speak to the manager though we never saw those scenes.

The saga now seems forced though. There's no way Charlotte would still be friends with those women in real life. You just know the second she got married and had kids she'd move to Connecticut or the Hamptons and make friends with other soccer moms. If not move to Israel and gleefully support the IDF.

by Anonymousreply 50November 15, 2019 10:10 PM

Kristin has crazy eyes. Every now and again she gets this wild-eyed expression, like a spooked horse. It's unsettling.

by Anonymousreply 51November 15, 2019 10:18 PM

She hasn’t lost the baby weight.

by Anonymousreply 52November 15, 2019 10:36 PM

R51, she does. Heather Graham and DL fave Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez does, as well. Very pretty women who look cuckoo.

by Anonymousreply 53November 15, 2019 11:16 PM

R53 - oh yes, I've noticed that about both Heather Graham and AOC. It's a strange facial expression quirk. Or, that they've got a bit of the crazy bottled up and it's randomly leaking out.

by Anonymousreply 55November 15, 2019 11:40 PM

I saw her in the west end production of Fatal Attraction when I was in grad school in London a few years back. The play was a snooze with her in the Anne Archer role. Her body is very much a middle aged, "mom jeans"bod up close. Not bad, but wide hips, average height, average looks. She's just kind of meh. The play was terrible, in case you are dying to know. You need the quick cuts in the movie to build the tension.

by Anonymousreply 56November 16, 2019 12:20 AM

[Quote] The play was terrible, in case you are dying to know.

Colour me shocked 😱

by Anonymousreply 57November 16, 2019 3:57 AM

Her face looks fine to me; good, even. But yes, her manic affect and crazy eyes are bizarre!

by Anonymousreply 58November 16, 2019 4:05 AM

She was on Live with Kelly & Ryan recently, and she seemed like she was "on" something. WAY too much hyperactivity for that time of the morning. She kept interrupting and talking over Kelly, and Kelly was getting noticeably annoyed. Kristin was telling some story and when she said "and that's not the best part!" Kelly rolled her eyes and said something like "there's more??" Classic Kelly bitch moment.

by Anonymousreply 59November 16, 2019 4:15 AM

More Jennifer Jones than Taylor or Channing. And inching closer to Brenda Vaccaro.

by Anonymousreply 60November 16, 2019 9:56 AM

Didn't she make up that she was dating Alec Baldwin and he denied it?

by Anonymousreply 62November 16, 2019 11:41 AM

I wonder why she didn't protest when they gave her that scene where she shits herself?

She had virtually no storyline in either movie, apart from being afraid of jogging in case she hurts her baby. Wah.

by Anonymousreply 63November 16, 2019 1:07 PM

R63 and she was also jealous of their lesbian nanny.

by Anonymousreply 67November 16, 2019 2:28 PM

r59 I always got a bi-polar vibe from her. Unless she's on adder all, she is way too "up"

by Anonymousreply 68November 16, 2019 2:52 PM

She had a subtle facelift but it’s not that which throws off her look. It’s the filler that was injected overzealously and distorts her features.

by Anonymousreply 69November 16, 2019 3:14 PM

[quote] People remember Melrose Place. It was even rebooted

No, they don't. The reboot was cancelled almost instantaneously despite some appearances by the original case and that was a decade ago.

by Anonymousreply 70November 16, 2019 3:21 PM

[quote]I wonder why she didn't protest when they gave her that scene where she shits herself?

[quote]She had virtually no storyline in either movie, apart from being afraid of jogging in case she hurts her baby. Wah.

None of them really had storylines in either of the films -- except Carrie of course. She didn't protest when they gave her that because the alternative was no scene at all. Or probably more screentime for Carrie's wedding dress montage.

They gave Samantha that weight gain scene which I'm sure was SJP's idea solely to embarrass Kim Cattrall.

by Anonymousreply 71November 16, 2019 3:25 PM

I don't blame SJP for hanging onto the SATC for dear life. It was the best job any of the four of them had or will ever have (career wise) and there was a lot to be proud of about that series (the movies not so much). I realize it's cool to hate on SJP, but I don't think it was ever the show's intention to make any of these women, especially Carrie, likable. They were all sort of shallow and narcissistic and flawed like most people. Also, I'm gay and I prefer the show from season 3 onward. I hated that talking to the camera shtick they did in the first season and every episode being about the sexual quirks and fetishes of all of the random guys they fucked. The show may have become more stylized and fashion oriented in the later seasons, but the writing improved along with it.

by Anonymousreply 72November 16, 2019 3:31 PM

R72 I agree 100%. Only I like season 4-6 the best, specifically. Those are SJP seasons aka she was the Exec Producer on those, and the show was better. The writing and stories were better and the show went from feeling like a dark comedy to a light hearted show that made you feel good when you watched.

by Anonymousreply 73November 16, 2019 3:36 PM

[quote] I realize it's cool to hate on SJP, but I don't think it was ever the show's intention to make any of these women, especially Carrie, likable. They were all sort of shallow and narcissistic and flawed like most people.

They were all supposed to be flawed, yes. But Carrie wasn't intended to be so shallow, and narcissistic, and self-involved as she later became. A lot of that wasn't even the writers fault. It was SJP's.

by Anonymousreply 74November 16, 2019 3:38 PM

Carrie was narcissistic from season one.

I don’t know what show some of you were watching.

by Anonymousreply 75November 16, 2019 3:40 PM

[quote]I hated that talking to the camera shtick they did in the first season and every episode being about the sexual quirks and fetishes of all of the random guys they fucked.

The talking to the camera is actually only in the first four episodes. And while it was natural for the show to become more serialized and mature there's a shift in *tone*, which is mostly what some people criticize.

[quote]the show went from feeling like a dark comedy to a light hearted show that made you feel good when you watched.

Yes. For better or worse.

by Anonymousreply 76November 16, 2019 3:42 PM

[quote]Carrie was narcissistic from season one.

At some point though people, even fans of the show, really started to hate her. I don't know when exactly.

Maybe the 'sk-ruh-hun-cheeeee' moment. Hard to say really.

By the time we last saw her it's hard to say Mark Kermode's review was totally without justification.

by Anonymousreply 77November 16, 2019 3:44 PM

Actually the franchise wasn't always the source of derision it is now. It really was spoken about more like The Sopranos or The Wire for a brief while. Then it became a joke.

by Anonymousreply 78November 16, 2019 3:50 PM

R50, exactly; kinda the same way in which Will & Grace stopped being pals after the each had kids in the OG finale.

I wonder how this finale will end? I don't think Vince is going to fly back into Will's life or Leo into Grace's so quickly. Tho I'd be fine with both.

by Anonymousreply 79November 16, 2019 3:50 PM

It's going to end with Megan Mullally breaking character and punching Deb in front of a live studio audience.

by Anonymousreply 80November 16, 2019 3:52 PM

[quote]kinda the same way in which Will & Grace stopped being pals after the each had kids in the OG finale.

Yes, I think that was smart and real.

by Anonymousreply 81November 16, 2019 3:53 PM

W&G is another example. Shows which are supposed to be about female friendship -- and then reality: all women are bitches and they hate all other women.

Is there a single TV show in which women who played friends actually got along in real life?

by Anonymousreply 82November 16, 2019 3:56 PM

Is SATC really a source of derision? It may not be "woke" enough for the times we are currently living in, but it's not without merits. For all of the talk of its datedness, I still think overall the show holds up on the strength of the acting and writing (and even the fashion is being mined for inspiration again - Dior saddle bags, Fendi baguettes, etc.) and people still talk about it unlike some of the other more "prestigious" shows of the same era.

by Anonymousreply 83November 16, 2019 3:58 PM

[quote] Is SATC really a source of derision?

Yes.

[quote]It may not be "woke" enough for the times we are currently living in, but it's not without merits.

I agree.

[quote]people still talk about it unlike some of the other more "prestigious" shows of the same era.

Yes, but it's either joked about or spoken of like a guilty pleasure. This wasn't always the case.

by Anonymousreply 84November 16, 2019 4:02 PM

While I liked all of SATC, I too preferred seasons 4-6. I still remember season 3 feeling so depressing with the Carrie cheating on Aiden with Big storyline, and was thrilled when season 4 premiered and felt "light hearted" and then every week felt light, funny and more sweet. It was better, IMHO.

It became less about the men the women were fucking and their weird fetishes or behavior, and more about the relationships between the women and their friendship. I liked that.

by Anonymousreply 85November 16, 2019 4:03 PM

I rewatched it on DVD -- oh, six years ago now.

Most of the Carrie/Charlotte/Miranda's fashion doesn't hold up. But Samantha's looks do.

by Anonymousreply 86November 16, 2019 4:03 PM

People speak about the show as a joke now or a guilty pleasure because now, in 2019, people see how unrealistic the show was.

Well most people do, there are still people all over the world that believe the NYC depicted in this show is exactly how it is.

People that move here end up realizing "oh shit, I can't write a few words a week and afford a beautiful apartment and eat out every meal and wear expensive designer clothing". That is one of the biggest jokes now, how Carrie wrote for a third rate gossip mag but lived this luxurious life. She would not be living the way she was, even in the late 90s when NYC was much cheaper.

Add in the fact every extra was always white... yeah, not NYC at all.

by Anonymousreply 87November 16, 2019 4:06 PM

The fillers are obvious but ok. It’s her eye work that is frightening. Constant wide eye. Very unnatural.

And satc May even be iconic at this point, but it hasn’t aged well. Think how successful Friends, Seinfeld and The Office are to this day. The same can’t be said of SATC.

by Anonymousreply 88November 16, 2019 4:10 PM

I loved how during Jennifer Aniston's speech at The Peoples Choice Awards she thanks the fans for believing in her and all she has done, and for making Friends a show that is still one of the most watched years after it was off the air. She then thanked the fans for believing NYers live in those "big apartments" in NYC, and made a face as if she was saying "none of it was realistic, assholes. The NYC in Friends was make believe."

She probably finds the white people flocking there to live like "Friends" or "SATC" as ridiculous as us Natives do.

by Anonymousreply 89November 16, 2019 4:12 PM

I didn't mind a more lighthearted take per se, but it took on a very frau mentality.

Each of the characters getting their own happy ending felt like a betrayal of the show's original premise: That happy endings in relationships often don't happen but it doesn't have to matter because they have each other.

by Anonymousreply 90November 16, 2019 4:12 PM

SATC is very successful and watched all over the world, still.

It is not a show that can be aired all day everyday like Friends, Seinfeld or The Office because it was not a network series, it was an HBO series for adults that had a lot of cussing, sex and nudity. They edit out the cussing, and nudity but it is still not a show they can air on Nickelodeon at night like the others are.

I remember it used to air on The CW at 11pm and they stopped eventually because they had to edit so much out and not air certain episodes all together... those other shows did not have that problem.

by Anonymousreply 91November 16, 2019 4:15 PM

The show is too white, but probably not as much as people think given that it's really only about a narrow stratum of wealthy women who never interact with poor people. Really given how wealthy they all were and that it was set in NYC it should've been much more Jewish.

It was unrealistic even when the show began but they did allude to Carrie not eating and having a lot credit card debt but by the second film it had entered Dynasty-esque fantasy.

by Anonymousreply 92November 16, 2019 4:24 PM

SATC is one of the few shows from the past that I still think is funny and witty, although the women are really shallow (dumping men left and right for small quirks the men have, regardless of whether they are a good fit in other ways). Carrie’s character is the most desperate and self-destructive relationship-wise, though, and she is the most annoying by far.

Added bonus: finding the outfits/hairstyles horrible, which adds to the funny factor. Miranda and her damn Borderline mullet clown hair and CONSTANT red/orange outfits that clashed horribly!

by Anonymousreply 93November 16, 2019 4:34 PM

Well, by the second film she was now married to millionaire Big.

But Carrie was not wealthy, nor was Charlotte or Miranda.

Carrie was a writer for a third rate gossip mag... until she got Vogue in season 5, which paid her like $4 per word. Up until then she would be scraping by, and barely, and needing to work many writing jobs just to eat and pay bills etc.

Charlotte worked for the art gallery and lived in a small apartment until she married Trey, who was filthy rich (from old money). That was her Segway to Park Ave. but otherwise she would be an average Joe in NYC. She was lucky Trey allowed her to keep the apartment.

Miranda was an attorney, but one that lived a modest life by her means, and when Carrie needed money to borrow Miranda did not have much for herself, so that says a lot about her finances (people think all lawyers make bank, many struggle),

Samantha was the only one truly wealthy and by her own account, so the fact she was friends with them shows she was either a good and humble person or just unrealistic.

They would all be brushing shoulders with minorities... and not all minorities in NYC are "poor" r92... and most of the white people in Manhattan are not even American, another thing people can call SATC out for.

by Anonymousreply 94November 16, 2019 4:39 PM

Honey, if you live Carrie's brownstone you are wealthy.

To say nothing of her wardrobe.

A little leeway is natural for almost all shows, but in becoming so, so rich by SATC2 they kind of fulfilled a lot of what people had (once unjustly) criticized the show for.

by Anonymousreply 95November 16, 2019 4:43 PM

r95 are you stupid??? THAT IS WHY THE SHOW IS UNREALISTIC... Carrie lived in an apartment SHE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD. Get it??? Or are you slow?

by Anonymousreply 96November 16, 2019 4:47 PM

The money she had in SATC2 was because she was now married to a millionaire. Big was ALWAYS rich -_-

by Anonymousreply 97November 16, 2019 4:47 PM

That's not the point.

It's not about plotholes... it's about HOW the changes in wealth changed the show's dynamic.

I get it when people who say they related to early Carrie found her repulsive in the films.

by Anonymousreply 98November 16, 2019 4:51 PM

My sister always cringed at how Charlotte went from "sexy" and rich Trey to "gross" Harry.

I get that Trey is better in a physical sense, but Harry was more her person. She loved him for him, despite him not being some hot guy.

by Anonymousreply 99November 16, 2019 4:55 PM

Most fraus only care about money. They actually prefer unattractive men (so long as there just as wealthy) because it makes them easier to control.

by Anonymousreply 100November 16, 2019 4:56 PM

Trey and his mother made Charlotte sign a prenup, right? Not Harry.

by Anonymousreply 101November 16, 2019 4:58 PM

Trey's mom was awful, and she was the most realistic character on the show.

Charlotte still ended up with an apartment worth millions and he let her keep the ring, which was also probably worth A LOT.

by Anonymousreply 102November 16, 2019 5:00 PM

Some of the convos would not go over well now. I remember the episode when Samantha has those Tranny prostitutes hanging outside her apartment late at night, and are loud, and during breakfast she is telling the girls and Miranda says "she does not get the appeal there" and Carrie replies "they are the other white meat".

And Carrie says they are half women, half men. That would cause outrage now.

by Anonymousreply 103November 16, 2019 5:04 PM

[quote]Carrie replies "they are the other white meat". And Carrie says they are half women, half men.

The show depicted NYC as all white, and if there was a black person shown, which was almost never, they were always a stereotype of some sort, until Miranda starts dating Blair Underwood late in the series (which was supposed to be a white man but Cynthia Nixon demanded the character be a black man, as she did not believe someone like Miranda would only date white men (like Charlotte), but would be open to dating different types of men she was attracted to, that she found smart and successful etc.

If not for her he would have been white also.

Charlotte dating only white men seemed in character though.

Actually R18 Kristin was asked to audition to the Carrie role, but didn't like it and felt she was more the Charlotte type. She did date Alex R62. Just google the both of them and you will see plenty of photos of them. Now, back to Kristin's face. I don't think she looks bad, but her eyes have always bothered me.

It was Darren Star who asked her to audition.

r112 that is what I am saying. Nixon felt Miranda would be open to dating different types. as opposed to someone like Charlotte, who would very much be a whites only type

In the end they had Charlotte marry a Jew. That is a very bad WASP for you.

by Anonymousreply 116November 16, 2019 5:39 PM

Most WASP women will happily marry a rich Jew.

I think it's more realistic than we might want to care to admit. Everything in 2019 shows a group of white friends with a couple of POC thrown in for good measure, but doesn't feel authentic. It's sort of a check the box of inclusion, which is progress, but might not be too realistic. Carrie was the worst character. She's supposed to be cynical and jaded - she was based off of the source material, Candace Bushnell, who was a downtown "it girl" and writer. I just saw an article on Candace. She is single, in her mid to late 50's, lives in a small 1BR on the UES, no children, and smokes.

Was Carrie Jewish? I always thought she was in the show. I think SJP might be part Jewish.

by Anonymousreply 120November 16, 2019 6:04 PM

I see mixed groups all the time now. Mainly males.

by Anonymousreply 122November 16, 2019 6:11 PM

I'm going to guess Candace Bushnell doesn't have any real female friends though, but lots of real female enemies.

I kind of loved the Carrie character. She was always realistically flawed with notable bad judgement (cheating on Aidan) and vices (smoking and shopping) and warped priorities (shoes vs. rent) and was sometimes a very bad friend and other times a very good one. I loved how Patricia Field translated Carrie's emotions and mood through the character's clothing and how SJP managed to pull off some of those truly eccentric, but genius looks. The writing on the show, as politically incorrect as some of it might be in 2019, was often brilliant, sharp, and genuinely funny. Although very rooted in its era, I still think it's a classic.

Early Carrie did seem real and relatable -- helped by SJP's unconventional looks. But later Carrie who had men and designers fawning over her and such a lavish lifestyle... not so much.

Half Jewish, half horse r120.

They should've ended the series on a more bittersweet note: Harry insists they move to Israel, Charlotte reluctantly complies; Samantha enters into an open marriage with a rich older cancer-survivor, they agree to only see each other on weekends; Miranda and Steve decide NYC is too expensive and move to Philadelphia; Big just texting Carrie to tell her he's available, she walks the streets (of NYC) alone while deciding if she has anything better to do.

R61, I never realized how boring her body is. She was always made to look like she had a nice figure.

by Anonymousreply 128November 16, 2019 10:24 PM

R99

Charlotte moving on to Harry felt like a natural progression, and it was a rare time when the writers did something consistent with her character. She had the "perfect" marriage and was married to the "perfect" man, but she was miserable because his mother was a demon and the man himself didn't desire his wife. Harry was extremely imperfect but he adored and desired her, essentially giving her what she was deprived of for... however long she and Trey were married.

Are any of the rumors true that she is indeed gay?

by Anonymousreply 130November 17, 2019 1:33 AM

I remember seeing a nude pic of her sucking on a cock. Who's cock was it?

I liked her frau Christmas movie.
