I watched this last night. Such a wonderful film! I forgot how great it was.
Kenneth Branagh directs and leads a prodigious cast of Derek Jacobi, Emma Thompson, Brian Blessed, Ian Holm, Christian Bale, Judi Dench, Robbie Coltrane, Robert Stephens, Charles Kay, Christopher Ravenscroft, Alec McCowen, and Sir Paul Scofield.
From the prologue Jacobi so eloquently gives to the battle scenes to the aria haunting the ending credits, they do not make movies like this anymore.

Branagh is not a movie star.

Movies need movie stars. He should not have cast himself for the big screen.

I'll wait until I can watch the first 4.

I liked the Olivier version.

R3 I disagree. The best movies work without movie stars. For example, in Jaws the only "name" was Robert Shaw.

Richard Dreyfus was a movie star, hon.

That movie was fantastic. Branagh was fantastic.

R1 Only in superhero or action movies do we need a movie star...Henry V wasn't made for the average movie goer

Disagree. A movie star is someone whom the camera loves. It doesn't even have to be about good looks. Better Davis was a movie star. Thelma Ritter was a movie star - not a leading lady, but a screen presence that audiences loved.
A good example of a stage actor who was NOT a movie star: John McMartin in "Sweet Charity." His stage chops did not translate to the screen.

R10 who was it made for? Why wouldn't Billy Bob Libertarian not go see this??

All white cast, white male author , white male director. Cancel. Too much white male privilege.

R14 William Shakespeare was black.
Branagh had an affair on Emma Thompson.
Alec McCowen was queer.
Robert Stephens was a drunk.
Judi Dench is a rug muncher.

Yes, Eboni, all great figures in history were really black.

I'm here only to remark upon the feathered hair peeking out from the crown in the OP.

Brian Blessed stole every scene he was in.

One of my favorites — St Crispin’s Day speech is beautifully sot and scored, Charles Kay’s history, Brian Blessed’s warning, and Scofield’s weary king are standouts for me.

I never understood why Christopher Ravenscroft was not in more movies. He is amazing as Montjoy. I wonder if I can find any of his stage performances online.

I never watch anything with branagh in it. I can't look at his face. His lips, shudder.

Branagh was at peak hotness here. He has a beautiful cock.
Unfortunately, the person who worships Branagh is Branagh.

But the basket in those tights!

Branagh is one of my favorite actors. You are all annoying.
