Why was Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis so cold to Lady Bird Johnson at RFK's funeral?

From Johnson's diaries:

[quote]And then I found myself in front of Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy. I called her name and put out my hand. I hardly know how to describe the next few moments of time. She looked at me as though from a great distance as though I were an aberration. I felt extreme hostility. Was it because I was alive? At least without a flicker of expression, she extended her hand very slightly. I took it with some murmured words of sorrow and walked on quickly. It was somehow shocking. Never in any contact with her before had I experienced this.

A bit shocking, considering Lady bird even allowed Caroline Kennedy to continue attending school at the White House after JFK was murdered. She said it was the only thing Jacqueline asked and the "easiest thing to say yes" in the world.

HER HUSBAND'S HEAD HAD JUST BEEN BLOWN UP ALL OVER HER DRESS!

by Anonymousreply 1January 28, 2024 8:51 PM

It wasn't her husband's funeral, r1.

by Anonymousreply 2January 28, 2024 8:52 PM

I don't think we can begin to understand how fucked up JKO was around that time. She looses Jack, she loses his brother (who was also her lover) in such a short amount of time. She was also on a fuckton of pills just to get her through the day. On top of that, I don't think two women could be anymore different, Jackie wasn't on her polite at all costs game, and understandably so. Lady Bird (loved her) should have realized that, and maybe refrained from discussing it so openly.

by Anonymousreply 3January 28, 2024 9:03 PM

Perhaps li'l RFK Jr. was even then whispering his conspiracy theories into Aunt Jackie's ear.

Writing it in her diary was not "discussing it openly", R3.

by Anonymousreply 4January 28, 2024 9:04 PM

[quote]Lady Bird (loved her) should have realized that, and maybe refrained from discussing it so openly.

She asked for her diaries to be released only after her death.

by Anonymousreply 5January 28, 2024 9:05 PM

What did she want Jacqueline to do? Go plant some flowers? Eat her fucking snatch?

by Anonymousreply 6January 28, 2024 9:06 PM

The two women were actually quite friendly and grew even closer as time progressed.

Jackie had Lady Bird as her guest each summer at her estate on Martha’s Vineyard.

Other than then current FLOTUS Hillary Clinton, Lady Bird was the only other FLOTUS invited to Jackie’s private funeral.

In my opinion Jackie had PTSD as a result of being in the car when JKF was assassinated. Lady Bird was a big part of the events of that day. In fact, she was on the plane back to D.C. with Jackie and JFK’s coffin. RFK’s assassination must have triggered Jackie’s PTSD and so seeing Lady Bird at the funeral could have been a deep injury.

by Anonymousreply 9January 28, 2024 9:26 PM

Lady Bird knows what she did!

by Anonymousreply 10January 28, 2024 9:27 PM

All women of good breeding have their bitch moments.

Also, think like a mother: How many times do you think she wondered if her children were next?

Surely this crossed her mind OFTEN, which is justified, as her son was next on the list, although due to his own poor decision making.

by Anonymousreply 11January 28, 2024 9:37 PM

Not only had Jackie just lost her husband in the most violent way imaginable, this rube from Texas with her nasally twang was going to usurp her position as First Lady. A role Jackie had made her own

She's lucky Jackie didn't kick her in the cuntbone 🤨

by Anonymousreply 12January 28, 2024 9:39 PM

Scrutinized by every person who ever saw her when wasn’t behind locked doors, hounded by paparazzi, widowed grotesquely as the nation watched, and attending yet another funeral. The amazing thing is that she held it together at all.

Jackie couldn't get enough of those Kennedy cocks.

by Anonymousreply 16January 28, 2024 9:49 PM

@r15, My bad, I guess the whole scenario brought back a lot of bad memories. Jackie freaked when RFK was assassinated screaming "They're killing Kennedys". She ran off and married Onassis shortly there after. I guess she had a lot on her mind

by Anonymousreply 17January 28, 2024 10:19 PM

[quote]She was also on a fuckton of pills just to get her through the day.

Maybe Jackie started to believe that LBJ was in on the JFK assassination.

by Anonymousreply 20January 28, 2024 10:57 PM

Jackie was jealous that Lady Bird was getting pounded by Jumbo all the time.

by Anonymousreply 21January 28, 2024 11:27 PM

So he and Jackie were lovers? That would have been difficult to grieve, as you can't acknowledge your true feelings.

by Anonymousreply 25January 28, 2024 11:41 PM

by Anonymousreply 26January 28, 2024 11:50 PM

by Anonymousreply 34January 29, 2024 12:56 AM

I was never in my life a conspiracy theorist. I wore that as a badge of honor. And I would endlessly argue about the JFK assassination having been a lone gunman acting on behalf of no one.

Now at age 53, I think I've changed my mind. Howard Hunt's "deathbed" confession is pretty compelling. I don't know why he would lie about it. And it's becoming clear that Oswald had some contact with the CIA.

A handful of CIA men did it, and Johnson may have been in on it.

Seriously fuck Trump. I figured the ONE good thing he would do was finally release ALL the JFK CIA files. But nope. He held back and handful of them, and Biden has followed suit.

So, maybe Jackie was thinking since he hated RFK too, Johnson had a hand in that one as well.

by Anonymousreply 35January 29, 2024 1:14 AM

What would you expect, a FLOTUS on FLOTUS make out session?

by Anonymousreply 36January 29, 2024 1:17 AM

by Anonymousreply 37January 29, 2024 1:54 AM

Ladybird wanted to scissor.

by Anonymousreply 38January 29, 2024 2:06 AM

Jackie always looked down on the Johnson. She privately called them (even in official interviews after her husband died) "Colonel Cornpone and his little porkchop," and was very snobby about them behind their backs. What was sad about it was that the Johnsons went out of their way to be nice and respectful to her and her children, especially after the assassination. They let her take all the time she wanted to move out of the White House residence after the assassination, and repeatedly and specifically invited her to come back whenever she wanted. They even kept the ridiculously self-important plaque she put up on the presidential bedroom door when she moved out that said, ""In this room lived John Fitzgerald Kennedy with his wife, Jacqueline during the 2 years, 10 months and 2 days he was President of the United States.” The Nixons, of course, took that down the month they moved in to the residence in 1969.

Jackie Kennedy had many good qualities, but she was also very catty and very snobbish. (Of course many Dataloungers find those qualities her best ones.)

by Anonymousreply 39January 29, 2024 2:17 AM

No other FLOTUS could compare to Jackie.

Even if the historic, monumental event of the assassination of JFK had not happened, she'd be in a class by herself, just through sheer personality and style alone.

In addition to what r39 points out about the good and bad of Jackie, she was a social and financial bully, too. She put William Manchester, JFK's authorized by Jackie, then, no-longer authorized, biographer through hell.

The poor guy. I read all about it in a Vanity Fair article. It's hard not to come away from reading that and not dislike Jackie and feel sympathy for WM, who just didn't have the means and social clout to take her on.

Basically, she hired him to write a book about JFK. He put in work and expense. Then she balked.

Iirc, he may have gotten some kind of small damages from her but the whole thing broke him professionally and personally.

by Anonymousreply 41January 29, 2024 3:54 AM

Maybe she found out LBJ was part of the conspiracy to kill her husband?

by Anonymousreply 42January 29, 2024 4:15 AM

I will only touch your hand if you're a billionaire.

by Anonymousreply 43January 29, 2024 10:22 AM

I read the same VF article, r41 and felt the same. It was pretty despicable what she did to Manchester.

by Anonymousreply 44January 29, 2024 11:07 AM

R44, Especially since the passages she legally fought to have omitted were leaked to the public anyway.

by Anonymousreply 45January 29, 2024 11:12 AM

Jackie ostracized anyone who knew JFK and who wrote a book after his death.

She was livid at longtime JFK friend Red Fay for writing that JFK liked to swear in private and she never spoke to Ben Bradlee again after he recounted some private conversations with JFK in his book.

by Anonymousreply 46January 29, 2024 11:16 AM

Lady Bird plays dumb so beautifully and gentilly. She had that swearing in judge on speed-dial. He was already automatically President, he didn’t have to be sworn in within 2 hrs of JFK being shot.

by Anonymousreply 47January 29, 2024 11:40 AM

Unless she goes on to analyze the agony Jackie must have been enduring, Lady Bird can GFH.

Judging the behavior of the bereaved at funerals? Is this a thing? Not to mention at five years post assassination, Jackie MIGHT have just been coming to terms with her grief and shock over the unimaginably horrific death of her husband and is once again confronting and grieving yet another violent death. And Lady Bird can only comment how she herself is treated and made to feel? Yikes.

by Anonymousreply 48January 29, 2024 12:01 PM

I imagine it was because plenty people at the time, and since, highly suspected that her husband LBJ was involved in the assassination. It was no secret that JFK and LBJ hated each other's guys.

by Anonymousreply 49January 29, 2024 12:03 PM

Jackie murdered Marilyn.

Murderous cunt deserves everything she got.

by Anonymousreply 50January 29, 2024 12:04 PM

I assume you meant to type "guts." In truth, the principals liked each other. Of course, LBJ & Bobby hated each other. And many Kennedy hands didn't treat LBJ well, either.

by Anonymousreply 51January 29, 2024 1:04 PM

[quote]How many times do you think she wondered if her children were next?

She stated this as a reason she married Onassis. There were few people with the resources to keep her children safe if some high-up US conspiracy really were after them, and after JFK, MLK and RFK in quick succession you could hardly call her paranoid.

by Anonymousreply 53January 29, 2024 1:38 PM

Because Jackie knew that Ladybird’s husband had her husband rubbed out.

by Anonymousreply 54January 29, 2024 1:40 PM

[quote]And Lady Bird can only comment how she herself is treated and made to feel? Yikes.

Calm down! She wrote something in her diary and kept it private for 49 years, until she was dead.

by Anonymousreply 55January 29, 2024 1:41 PM

Lady Bird was a cunt, plain and simple. Classic Texas “lady”, smiling and as sweet as can be but uttter gutter cunt the minute your back is turned. It’s “bless your heart” and “lovely” to your face and “I’ll ruin you” behind your back. And this is the perfect example.

She was such a cunt, they got Patti Lupone to play her in the movie. THAT’S how much of a cunt she was.

Anything from Texas is rancid.

They were both cunts. The more that is discovered about Jackie the less I like her.

by Anonymousreply 65January 29, 2024 3:41 PM

The more I learn about Jackie the more I get an impression of a really flawed, but really interesting, multi-dimensional person (which is not to say especially likeable.) She seems coolly elegant in public but she was kind of a functioning hot mess. One thing I think it's easy to underestimate is the head fuck that was sitting next to Kennedy when his brains were blown out. My overall impression is of someone who made a commitment to not giving a fuck what anybody else thought. She was interesting, if not really likeable.

Lady Bird was one of the best First Ladies of the 20th century. Her campaign to beautify America was very successful, and we can thank her for the long period of time when many billboards were removed from the landscape. Now they're ubiquitous in some places, although nowhere near the volume of the 1950s and 1960s.

by Anonymousreply 74January 30, 2024 12:16 AM

Don't forget: she had Eartha Kitt taken out back and mercilessly beaten after the latter criticized the Johnsons' stance on the Viet Nam War at a White House luncheon.

You just didn't fuck with Lady Bird.

by Anonymousreply 75January 30, 2024 12:27 AM

Despite that, she had a good heart, which is hard to encounter in Washington. At a time when gay people were oppressed beyond belief, they identified with her struggles and she planted wild flowers.

by Anonymousreply 76January 30, 2024 3:00 AM

Lady Bird was well educated, especially for the time:

After graduating from St. Mary's in May 1930, Lady Bird toyed with returning to Alabama. Another friend from Marshall was going to the University of Texas, so she chartered a plane to Austin to join her. As the plane landed, she was awed by the sight of a field covered with bluebonnets and instantly fell in love with the city.[21] Lady Bird received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history[22] with honors in 1933[23] and a second bachelor's degree in journalism cum laude in 1934.[24] She was active on campus in different organizations, including Texas Orange Jackets, a women's honorary service organization, and believed in student leadership. Her goal was to become a reporter, but she also earned a teaching certificate.[4]

by Anonymousreply 77January 30, 2024 5:18 AM

I prefer Lady Bird >>> Jackie O. I know that puts me in the minority. Lady Bird was a very classy, kind, unpretentious lady.

by Anonymousreply 78January 30, 2024 5:21 AM

Jackie O looks positively simian in certain photos.

by Anonymousreply 79January 30, 2024 5:27 AM

From what I have read, it sounds like Jackie did that to a lot of people-someone (usually someone she knew) would say hello to her, and she would look right through them. Usually she was pissed at the person, but she used to do this to coworkers at Doubleday, too.

Anthony Quinn had known Jackie for years, but he pissed her off by playing a thinly veiled Aristotle Onassis in The Greek Tycoon. After the movie was released, he saw her walking toward him in New York. He put his arms out to say hello….and she breezed right by him without acknowledging his presence. She did the same thing to Ben Bradlee.

She never seemed angry at the right person. Peter Lawford and Frank Sinatra procured stars and whores (including Judith Campbell and Marilyn Monroe), and yet she was personally fond of both. Red Fay wrote that JFK said the f word and he was frozen out.

by Anonymousreply 80January 30, 2024 5:47 AM

However, r59 did write an excellent parody of Lady Macbeth's "What---in our house?"

I thought it might be a line from "Macbird," so I quickly skimmed through her parts, but no.

by Anonymousreply 92January 30, 2024 12:27 PM

What R91 posted is merely an edited portion from Lady Bird’s diary from November 22, 1963.

She did, need, say to Jackie what R59 posted.

A lifelong Texan, Lady Bird was concerned how Texas would be perceived in the future.

“The new first lady was also keenly aware that Americans wouldn't care that Dallas was "more extreme, less tolerant" than their home in Hill Country — they would blame Texas as a whole. She also knew that her husband's critics were angry because, in their mind, "a Texan long derided as culturally inferior and suspected as brazenly hungry for power would become commander in chief."“

Ben Bradlee’s book really annoyed Jackie, for he wrote about how he and his then wife were frequently invited to the White House to socialize with JFK and Jackie and she considered that a betrayal.

After his book was published, Bradlee and new wife Sally Quinn found themselves staying in the next bungalow to Jackie and her kids at an island resort. Eventually, they crossed paths, but when Bradlee tried to approach her, Jackie just ignored him. After that, Sally Quinn would regularly attack Jackie in her Washington Post column.

by Anonymousreply 103January 30, 2024 7:00 PM

Hippy LBJ at R96 is 64 and looks like Big Edie at 80. Rough.

"Johnson recorded an hour-long television interview with newsman Walter Cronkite at his ranch on January 12, 1973, in which he discussed his legacy, particularly about the civil rights movement. He was still smoking heavily, and told Cronkite that it was better for his heart to smoke than to be nervous. Ten days later, at approximately 3:39 p.m. Central Time on January 22, 1973, Johnson suffered his final heart attack in his bedroom."

by Anonymousreply 104January 30, 2024 7:02 PM

Jackie hated Sally Quinn, she said she symbolized everything wrong with Washington.

Jackie’s pedo brother Jamie claims she stopped speaking to him in the 70s because he allowed Kitty Kelley to interview him for her Jackie book -he’s the one who told the story about how the pink suit was put in a box and given to the National Archives.

by Anonymousreply 105January 30, 2024 7:14 PM

I guess that no one remembers that in 1967, Lady Bird was parodied as "Lady Macbird" in the satiric "Macbird" that somehow got produced only 3 years after the Kennedy assassination and ran at the Village Gate for 386 performances.

Hold on: Lady MacBird was played by no other than DL favorite Rue Mclanahan! The rest of the cast was filled out by several actors whose names frequently appear on DL.

The play single-handedly invented the concept of "too soon?"

Jackie tried to stop Little Edie from selling Grey Gardens to Ben Bradlee and Sally Quinn. But Little Edie liked them and sold it to them. Jackie had sending Edie a check every month for expenses, and as punishment for selling Grey Gardens to the Bradlees, Jackie cut the amount she sent Edie in half.

by Anonymousreply 108January 30, 2024 7:39 PM

Lenny Bruce's "Hauling Ass to Save Her Ass" routine was even sooner than Barbara Garson. "It was soon after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, and Mr. Bruce mocked a magazine photograph said to show Jackie Kennedy trying heroically to aid her husband, saying she was really trying to flee."

Jackie Kennedy was a First Lady unlike we’d ever seen or likely will ever see again. She had the IT factor. She was said to be more beautiful in person, and mesmerizing. She freaking dazzled the Russian dictator.

Lady Bird is one of one best FLs hands down. Whip smart.

Can you imagine if we’d had 8 years of Kennedy followed by 8 years of LBJ? Both were phenomenal presidents. It is astonishing what they accomplished. It is why both are considered one of the best ever. LBJ just had to fuck it up with Vietnam. That shit was pushed by conservatives who knew even back then how to paint you as evil if you didn’t believe certain things they did like Commies were everywhere so let’s meddle in every country’s biz.

I do not think LBJ had anything to do with JFK’s assassination, but the CIA? *side eye*

by Anonymousreply 122January 31, 2024 1:46 AM

She was not beautiful. Chic and glamorous, yes, but not a beauty. And she had man hands and feet.

by Anonymousreply 123January 31, 2024 1:49 AM

She heard Jack refer to her as Anal Bird.

by Anonymousreply 125January 31, 2024 2:19 AM

R122, LBJ didn’t have 8 years in him after an 8-year JFK/LBJ administration.

by Anonymousreply 126January 31, 2024 3:31 AM

R126 Not true. Vietnam aged him. Without that, who knows. At least 4 years.

by Anonymousreply 127January 31, 2024 3:38 AM

Nah, R127. He chose not to run in ‘68 in part because none of the Johnson men ever lived beyond 64, the age he would be in ‘72. And he did have the massive heart attack in the mid-‘50s.

by Anonymousreply 128January 31, 2024 3:42 AM

R128 He was a broken man in ‘68.

by Anonymousreply 129January 31, 2024 3:47 AM

3 packs a day and Vietnam aged him.

by Anonymousreply 130January 31, 2024 3:47 AM

R128, Lady Bird was convinced that LBJ was going to have another heart attack and die in office.

That’s why she kept a black dress in her dressing room closet in the White House.

by Anonymousreply 131January 31, 2024 3:48 AM

Lady Bird was a brilliant girl who graduated at the top of her high school class at age 16 and went on to college, in an era when very few Americans went to college at all. Her quiet intellect and unassuming elegance made her so far superior to that phony, chain-smoking hussy Jackie that there's no comparison, really. The only FLOTUS we've had since to match Lady Bird was Rosalyn Carter, also a southerner--perhaps no coincidence?

by Anonymousreply 132January 31, 2024 3:58 AM

Jackie O was a well known bitch. She even insulted the queen.

by Anonymousreply 135January 31, 2024 4:02 AM

I think Lady Bird was an admirable FL but her remarks about Jackie at the RFK funeral seemed unfeeling and out of character. For one thing, Jackie was probably exhausted. Stas and Lee called her from London in the middle of the night when he was shot and she flew to LA the next day. Then back with the body and the family, really it was like Dallas all over again. Then the funeral at St. Patrick’s.

by Anonymousreply 137January 31, 2024 4:04 AM

Oh, poor Jackie. Boo hoo. The poor thing!

by Anonymousreply 138January 31, 2024 4:06 AM

When Jackie was first lady she was as famous as Princess Diana.

by Anonymousreply 139January 31, 2024 4:38 AM

Jackie used to be adored here, but this thread is cunting all over her.

by Anonymousreply 140January 31, 2024 5:15 AM

Jackie and Lady Bird were actual friends for many years after they left the White House. Lady Bird was one of the few politicos Jackie invited to her Red Gate Farm. The LBJ library has many personal letters Jackie sent Bird over the decades.

by Anonymousreply 141January 31, 2024 5:19 AM

[quote] Jackie used to be adored here, but this thread is cunting all over her.

That's because so many of those who were her fans here, who were Boomers or members of the Silent Generation, have since died off.

When she was First Lady the media was so dazzled by her,, and treated her like a goddess since she was so much more elegant than all the First Ladies most people could remember back then (Mamie, Bess Truman, Eleanor Roosevelt). And then for five years she was America's Great Widow, and equally revered by the media. So people's image of her then was very colored by the glamor the media gave to her. People didn't know generally then the more sordid aspects of her life: that JFK cheated on her, or that Joe Kennedy bought her off in the 50s by giving her a million dollars so she wouldn't divorce JFK, or that she could be so catty about other elected officials' wives. They just saw her as an elegant young woman who dressed well and spoke French and Spanish and had exquisite taste.

After she married Onassis, things really changed for Jackie in terms of how the media portrayed her. So if you belonged to generation X you did not grow up with that mystique around her--she was best known throughout the Seventies for the gossip around her marriage to (and then separation from) Onassis. And now we know other less flattering things about her: her shopping addiction, her controlling behavior regarding her son, her even more controlling behavior regarding her first husband's legacy.

So I think Xers and Millennials see her very differently than Boomers do. She doesn't possess the glamor for later generations in the same way she did for their elders.

by Anonymousreply 142January 31, 2024 5:41 AM

What were her major accomplishments as FLOTUS?

by Anonymousreply 143January 31, 2024 6:54 AM

R143 She was obsessed with money and standing; that was it. She was an incredibly shallow woman.

by Anonymousreply 144January 31, 2024 8:08 AM

I could never get past her creepy Stepford wife Valium voice.

by Anonymousreply 145January 31, 2024 8:33 AM

Lady Bird had great gams. I wonder how often she rode Johnson's huge Johnson, and liked it.

by Anonymousreply 146January 31, 2024 8:39 AM

Wasn’t that more of a public voice, R144?

by Anonymousreply 147January 31, 2024 9:02 AM

Historical restoration of the White House

by Anonymousreply 148January 31, 2024 9:03 AM

Even Mel "restored" the White House. The Red Room is actually red again, not pink. The Blue Room got exquisitely restored Bellangé furniture. Some reception rooms got quite good new carpets. The Tennis Pavilion (which aint bad) and the controversial Rose Garden revamp (something had to be done). And yes, I think Mel is a nasty whore. But then the Bouvier sisters were Society whores pimped by mommy Janet and brainwashed to think of nothing but $$$$$$$ and social standing.

by Anonymousreply 149January 31, 2024 9:12 AM

On DL there was the story of the author whose book had been edited by Jackie. Obviously it was an extremely pleasant experience. A friend of the author said he.was going to be at an event where Jackie was going to be. The author said please go to her and give her my regards. He did just that and Jackie said 'I'm so glad you did.' And then immediately turned and walked away.

by Anonymousreply 150January 31, 2024 9:39 AM

Where did I hear that before, R141?

by Anonymousreply 151January 31, 2024 10:09 AM

The only cunting is from DL conservative/magats who seethe that Jackie wasn’t a Democratic FLOTUS. I’m serious.

Democrats have all the good presidents/FLOTUSs.

by Anonymousreply 152January 31, 2024 12:06 PM

R143 In addition to holding America together by her exemplary conduct after her husband was murdered in her arms:

1. Historical restoration of White House

2. Began the preservation and restoration of historic buildings (Grand Centra Station)

3. Got funding to save the Temple of Abu Simbel in return obtained a complete Egyptian Temple for the Metropolitan Museum.

4. Burnished the reputation of USA abroad where they were viewed as illiterate bumpkins ie R144

by Anonymousreply 154January 31, 2024 3:22 PM

She knew how to throw one hell of a funeral.

by Anonymousreply 155January 31, 2024 3:23 PM

Disagree r152. I’m a Democrat and as I’ve said before, the more I find out about Jackie, the less I like her. IMO she was a gold digger and a controlling snob.

by Anonymousreply 156January 31, 2024 3:27 PM

R154, And she gave us this . . .

Many who knew Jacqueline well described her as a "consummate actress".

by Anonymousreply 158January 31, 2024 5:20 PM

She was the "consummate Geisha."

by Anonymousreply 159January 31, 2024 5:22 PM

Looking at R157’s pic reinforces my impression that John, Jr., was not, as listed, 6’1”. Anyone with firsthand observation who can address this?

by Anonymousreply 160January 31, 2024 5:31 PM

The important question is: did she give good head?

by Anonymousreply 161January 31, 2024 5:34 PM

She was friendly to Andy Warhol until he brought Bob Colacello, his editor at Interview, to her holiday party as his plus one.

She pretended it was nice to see Bob and went out of her way to be nice to him at the party.

Then she called Andy the next day and yelled at him for bringing a gossip columnist into her home.

by Anonymousreply 162January 31, 2024 6:01 PM

I'm 6'2" and JFK Jr was shorter than me and I'd say 6 foot even plus or minus the hair. Minus the hair he might not even have been 6 foot. He was very fit and he photographed larger in bulk and height. He was svelte in person and also of course blindingly attractive.

by Anonymousreply 163January 31, 2024 6:14 PM

When local news fashion writer retired, in her final column she mentioned a reader who was transfixed with the outfit Jackie wore in Dallas. I imagined the reader obsessed with the Zapruder film, exclusively eyeing Jackie. “That man’s head has fallen on her dress!”

by Anonymousreply 164January 31, 2024 6:47 PM

She would not allow John, Jr. to become an actor. She said that most actors were “fruits”. Did she say that word around fruit extraordinaire Nureyev?

by Anonymousreply 165January 31, 2024 6:56 PM

R165, When sister Lee became engaged to Herbert Ross, Jackie asked friends “Isn’t he a homosexual?”.

by Anonymousreply 166January 31, 2024 7:19 PM

Fruit is such a vile pejorative. I prefer FAG.

by Anonymousreply 167January 31, 2024 7:26 PM

Were Lee’s feet as large as Jackie’s?

by Anonymousreply 169January 31, 2024 7:32 PM

[quote] She said that most actors were “fruits”.

Not a surprise - or out of the ordinary - for someone who lived from 1929-1994 to refer to gays in offensive terms.

by Anonymousreply 170January 31, 2024 7:57 PM

R169 Her feet were smaller but Lee's cunt was far bigger.

by Anonymousreply 172January 31, 2024 8:03 PM

R160 Bill Clinton is (or at least was back then) 6'2. Photos of him and with John Junior show they look about the same height.

I rode in an elevator with JFK, Jr. a month before he died.

I’m 6’4” and he was not much shorter than me.

Believing that he was in the 6'1 range is easy. With 6'2 Uncle Ted.
