or even fug? Not even an eldergay but I don't get how guys even watch the stuff the turn out today. Back in the 70's you had actual stunners...dudes you'd turn your heads and gawk at if you saw them irl. I'm talking about Jack Wrangler, Arnaldo (Malo) Santana, Casey Donovan, etc. Guys with great bodies (but that didn't look like they were trying too hard) and great faces to go with them...some of them even had a modicum of acting talent. Anyway, porn today sucks.

I imagine the quality was better and actors more beautiful because people paid to see it. Either in theaters or paying for VHS. There was more money thus more artistry involved. The internet came and changed things.

So many of today's porn stars have tragically ruined their bodies with too much ink, so they end up looking like human billboards.

R2...if porn were not profitable, nobody would be doing it.

Porn studios are so desperate they will let anyone be a porn star now. When the market was more niche in the 70s and 80s and people paid for it. That money went directly to the studios and they invested in finding actors (usually actual gay men) and creating actual narratives. So it resulted in better quality. The internet cheapened the quality of porn because it became widely available and less people are paying for it. Most porn nowadays gets money from advertisements on websites. So it's oversaturated. Porn studios churn out so many videos at a fast rate and they'll let anybody be a porn star because they are so desperate to make money. It's all quantity over quality. Hence why so much modern porn is so trashy, low-effort, soulless and filled with lowlifes, studios need to crank out a lot of content to make back their money. The only solution is if people actually consistently paid for content which would improve the quality control.

It's hooking that remains profitable. Porn is just the calling card.

NextDoor used to feature guys who looked like "boys next door." Suddenly over the past couple of years, they've gotten older and dirtier looking. After learning from DL how many perverse violent criminals are among the ranks of gay porn stars, I can't help seeing these scraggly creatures as dangerous straight bad guys who can't get any other source of income because of their criminal records.

The 70s to early 2000s had so many cute boy next door types and masculine hunks. Beautiful faces with great bodies who seemed to enjoy taking dick. Many had charisma. Too bad so many overdosed and got HIV. I think today the market is so oversaturated and porn studios are so desperate. In the past they seemed far more selective.

Classic porn ('70s-'80s) used to be a rarefied business. It was produced by trained professionals, often from legitimate Hollywood film backgrounds and theater/modeling companies. After video took over and cameras became smaller and commercially available for personal use, anyone who could afford a hand-held unit could produce amateur porn. The proliferation of non-studio produced porn meant that the home porn filmmaker was free to cast whomever he wished based on his own particular tastes and/or interests. There's usually an audience for just about anything. Before the internet, there was a very active mail-order amateur porn business. The marketplace was subsequently flooded with non-studio types of all kinds and the era of the porn legends (with some exceptions) was over.

The problem is OnlyFans, just for fans. A hot guy who most likely would do porn can make a ton more on only fans gay baiting.

Bobby Styles was a hot twink from the early 90s. Had a Sal Mineo look. His movies My First Love and Wanting Jamie are very sensual.
You don't see the mix of hot, sexy and cute, sweet anymore.

Bel Ami has plenty of those: Pip Caulfield, Jim Durden, Jorik Tautou, to name three.
