If you read biographies about cruise and scientology, it's so damn bizarre and perverse! how he left a movie set and was flown by helicopter and then driven to the secret compound base, how he was to meet miscavige for the first time, how miscavige was upset that cruise was late , because they had prepared everything, the grounds, dinner, certain people to be there, and how cruise didn't get there until dark, and how he was wined and dined and shown around the grounds and the pair hung out together for a few days and then for a few years, how in between movies, cruise would go to the base and privately study there for days and even weeks at a time...
how in the fuck does and did cruise think any of this is normal behavior? AND NO, because he was a Catholic (so was I), it would not be the same, remotely so, as leaving one religion for another in devotion or whatever..
