What's the best everyday underwear?

I'm done with Hanes. Wasn't good to begin with and has declined since then. What brand do you recommend for every day use? Not looking for anything too fancy. Nobody will see my shorts or briefs in the office.

Fruit of the Loom. Cute ads.

by Anonymousreply 7July 6, 2013 3:58 AM

Polo Ralph Lauren--buy them at an outlet store or TJ Maxx

by Anonymousreply 8July 6, 2013 3:59 AM

I best briefs I have ever worn are found online only these days. Munsingwear Kangaroo pouch. The are constructed to cup your balls in a pouch and it feels great. Google them.

by Anonymousreply 9July 6, 2013 4:01 AM

I really like Jockey classic briefs ...they are super sexy & comfortable. A FWB of mine comes over & changes into my clothes - all the better to show off his hot body! - and he looks fantastic in my white Jockey briefs.

by Anonymousreply 11July 6, 2013 4:15 AM

Hanes and Fruit of the Loom wear out easy. I bought a bunch of Jockey brand underwear at one of their outlet stores years ago and they are all still intact with no degradation of structural integrity.

Your cotton unmentionables last significantly longer if they never see the inside of a tumble dryer.

This has been Reason #6 in support of line drying your laundry.

Anything that can be laundered without resorting to napalm to remove the stink.

How many of you utilize the pouch fly, rather than pulling your briefs down and flopping your dick over the waste band to pee?

by Anonymousreply 22July 7, 2013 11:26 PM

Boxers or briefs, as long as they are not like a cheap hotel. They need to have ball room.

by Anonymousreply 23July 7, 2013 11:38 PM

[quote]Hanes and Fruit of the Loom wear out easy.

I've noticed this too.

I'd like to know of a good but affordable brand of mens underwear.

by Anonymousreply 24July 7, 2013 11:41 PM

For t-shirts, anyway, I've found that the ones they have at Costco (the Kirkland brand) are much better quality (heavier cotton, last longer) than any of the major brands.

by Anonymousreply 26July 8, 2013 12:15 AM

I buy Champion boxer briefs at Costco. They cost very little and hold up much better than Calvin Klein boxer briefs that cost three times as much. I realize it's not a brand that's going to impress a trick. I can live with that.

by Anonymousreply 35July 8, 2013 4:01 AM

Growing up, my mother bought Jockey, Hanes or Penney's house brand for me, my brother and my father.

Flash forward to the present. A friend of mine brought Hanes underwear for her grandson. When she opened the package, she noticed that the briefs lacked an elastic waistband.

She took the briefs back to the store for a refund. The clerk sighed as she issued a refund; it was not the first time that day that she had to issue a refund. The clerk sighed again and said she remembered when most of the clothes that her store sold was American made and usually had the union label sewed in

by Anonymousreply 36August 1, 2013 4:47 AM

I think Hanes briefs are okay for everyday wear. I think they last as well as most of the others.

Now what I will not buy again, because they don't last, is Penneys briefs.

by Anonymousreply 37August 1, 2013 5:05 AM

Banana Republic briefs are (or used to be) superb. Quality cotton and fit better than anything else I've tried. I have a few pairs that have lasted several years.

by Anonymousreply 38August 1, 2013 5:18 AM

I find that Calvin Klein underwear are far superior to any other underwear brand I've ever worn. Well-constructed, supportive, sexy. Nothing else even comes close.

by Anonymousreply 39August 1, 2013 6:04 AM

UNIQLO!

If you don't live near one, I'm sure you can order online. I don't swear by everything this store sells, but the boxer briefs are cheap and astoundingly comfortable. They also come in a mind boggling array of designs. I get simple dark gray, light gray, and black. Awesome.

Done the CK thing -- too expensive, not as comfortable as Uniqlo. Christ, I think they're 2 for $9.90 or some shit?

by Anonymousreply 40August 1, 2013 6:23 AM

by Anonymousreply 42August 1, 2013 7:06 AM

If you don't count Ciaran's comment, it took 42 posts before some queen loudly proclaimed his revolutionary commando stance. Is this a new record for the DL?

by Anonymousreply 43August 1, 2013 7:18 AM

Unico makes great underwear for package presentation and coverage without looking like a complete sleaze. I have been given lots of 2xist, but they are a bit skimpy for my muscle butt. My bf likes to buy me gitch.

I wear Calvin's briefs for the soft cotton and nice texture, they really are the best. Jock straps for packaging allignment under dress pants and under shorts in the summer, boxers at home as shorts, and boxer briefs most days for the gym under shorts to keep the big piece from hanging out and the whores from falling off the treadmill.

I am Italian. Love myself in underwear and have hundreds of pairs. Cheesy but no one complains.

I only go commando under sweatpants. Decency concerns. I like it like that.

by Anonymousreply 48August 3, 2013 8:28 PM

What is stereotypical about liking your body and how your underwear feels and looks? Don't you enjoy yourself r48?

Everyone has a different idea of sexy, but most men like women in underwear,(lingerie) and most gay men find others pleasing in something or other. Sexy does have a bit to do with what lies beneath... All fun, no rules. I would give up all underwear for world peace.

Are you someone who says, "Nobody sees it, why would I care?" Or do you only approve of loincloth? Whatever you like is fine son.

Say it, don't just call names.

by Anonymousreply 49August 4, 2013 2:41 AM

When Eric von Stroheim was directing Foolish Wives in '21 or '22, he ordered monogrammed silk underwear for his cast who played aristocrats.

When a studio executive questioned his extravagent spending on something the audience would never see, von Stroheim said the underwear was necessary so his actors would "feel more like aristocrats."

Don't wear cheap underwear. It shows.

2(x)ist made the best twelve years ago and now they're shit.

Gap used to be good- now their trunks feature one leghole smaller than the other and a saggy waist - makes me feel like a trailerpark manwhore.

Armani features an uncomfortable waist, but excellent ball cuppage and wide enough legs.

I'm stuck with FOTL- tossing them every six months as the leg holes unravel.

by Anonymousreply 83December 1, 2015 3:29 PM

If you have a fit athletic body, you should not wear cotton underwear. You should wear a fabric that is form-fitting and complimenting. Microfiber is my favorite now. CK makes some great Microfiber boxer briefs that look like a million books and feel so nice and comfortable. They really give you swag when you look in the mirror and other people see you in your drawers.

[quote]Not sure there's a difference between "everyday underwear" and just underwear.

I'm betting the distinction is a fashion/brand issue.

Everyday underwear is what you wear when no one will see you and no one would judge or care what you're wearing.

All else falls into the other category when it matters how it looks, needs to have functional specificity (like for athletics), or when you know some trick will see you - I mean, you know someone somewhere decided that the hookup had to leave because they were wearing old tighty whities.

Calvin Klein low-rise, all-cotton hip briefs have long been my preferred everyday underwear. by Anonymousreply 126March 20, 2018 3:49 AM

I wear boxer briefs, Jockey, non-cotton to work every day and they're so much better than the cotton underwear I used to wear. Otherwise I wear the cuter selections from American Eagle. I also have several Jocks, Bikini briefs, a few leather selections and a see through boxer that zips front and back that was given to me by this supposedly straight guy that I was fucking awhile back that I have no Idea why I keep. I'm also an underwear freak and have something like 47 pairs, not counting the selection of unworn cotton trunks in the guest room drawer in case someone needs a clean pair before he leaves. I bought somewhere around 20 on sale awhile back that I didn't realize were cotton until they arrived and I saw no reason to send them back.

My advice to the OP and to everyone is to drop the cotton, it retains moisture instead of wicking it away. has a tendency to ride up during physical activity and can chafe. That said. a lot of men refuse to try anything other than what their mother's bought them when they were growing up.

Seriously though, Check out AE's Foil collection, they also have a rainbow pattern that I bought a few of. I honestly thing AE designs their underwear for gay men.

by Anonymousreply 127March 20, 2018 4:10 AM

R131, I've never really enjoyed wearing underwear without a fly... unless I going to go out and cruise for cock, back in the days when there were gay bars or I as going to spend time in a bathouse.

Personally, I like Jockey underwear and have 3 different styles... regular white briefs and two different kinds of boxer briefs. One of the boxer briefs has a pouch and man I love the way my balls settle in and my dick sits. The other boxer briefs have the nicest cotton that stectches and man, it hugs my ass so nicely and the cock and balls sit comfortable. I love the way they feel. The briefs are briefs...

Who makes the best boxer briefs?

by Anonymousreply 146March 31, 2018 5:29 PM

Sorry to impose on your thread OP. I can't start my own. Can anyone recommend really good white sport socks, the ones that go just above the ankle. I'm diabetic and need really thick, soft socks that are very stretchy and not binding on top. I used to get these gold toe ones at Macy's then at Target that were perfect but the last ones, expensive at that, I ordered online from Macy's had the gold toe but were nothing like the old ones. They ran very tight, especially at the top. I had to take a pair of scissors and cut 3 inch slits on either side of the top of each sock or it would have damaged my circulation or cut into my leg and as a type 1 diabetic I'm just one wound away from losing a leg.

I've gotten socks made for diabetics but they are thin and cheaply made and don'e survive more than a few washings. I use bleach since I use a public washing machine in my building. The old socks lasted a couple of decades of weekly machine washing with bleach.

H&M's basic 3 pack is about $12 to $15 and they last a couple years. Comfortable. Cotton and they come in various color combos including fun seasonal options (I have a pineapple pair and one with cute donuts).

by Anonymousreply 179July 13, 2018 8:13 AM

Practicality question. Does anyone else find you need different underwear styles for different apparel? I can't wear boxers with jeans because they bunch-up in the crotch area, so I leave the boxers for dress slacks. (I wear a lot of suits.) And my 2(x)ist tighty whities (the pima cotton ones) provide better support, not to mention a better "presentation" for my (ahem) larger than average package.

I don't understand the concept of "everyday underwear." Do you have underwear you only break out for special occasions?

by Anonymousreply 194August 21, 2018 7:26 PM

R187, I'm with you, different styles with different kinds of trousers/pants.

Briefs with jeans, boxer briefs with dress pants.

Men should learn how to 'present' more... their ass and their cock. Try pants on before you buy! How well is your ass wrapped by the fabric? In the front... you showing or not? With trousers, I don't want my cock to show... with jeans I do.

by Anonymousreply 195August 21, 2018 7:56 PM

Hand to God the truth, I bought a five-pair set of briefs from Sears (don't remember the brand but they were $15 for a set of five) and they are the best value I've purchased in a long time. I wear them consistently and they've held up well. They come in fun patterns and colors (paisley, teal, red, etc, as well as your baic grey white and black), and they survive the washer and dryer well. I used to spend a lot on underwear, wearing designer underwear like 2xist, CK, underarmour. I will never do that again.

Years ago I bought gently snug fitting boxer briefs made of a stretch corton pinhole fabric — ie it is covered in tiny airholes. It is absolutely the best underwear I’ve ever worn. It feels so light, remains cool at all all times, and never squeezes or compresses the balls — which is the curse of 90% of underwear. I wish I could find someone who made them now. Has anyone seen this fabric in boxer brief?

H&M. My best new discovery. No vulgar name advertised on the waistband. Very comfortable. I'm talking about their boxer briefs.

by Anonymousreply 230September 6, 2019 6:04 PM

MeUndies. Lots of different options.

by Anonymousreply 232September 6, 2019 6:57 PM

I'm ex-Hanes as well. Bought them in various styes for years and years but their quality got worse and worse.

I'm a Jockey™ man now.

Two observations:

For everyone who is suggesting white briefs, why get something expensive? Every man I’ve encountered ends up having some sort of track mark in them in no time, no matter how fastidious they are. Throw those things out as soon as you see something.

This idea of trying to present your package isn’t hot. Straight guys don’t care about this, unless they’re ghetto. Whether you want to admit it or not there’s something much hotter about a straight guy who doesn’t care versus a perfectly packaged gay man who has “curated” every aspect of his appearance.

I buy boxer briefs at TJ Maxx, whatever is on sale, 100% cotton, in black. Joe Boxer, Hanes, Kenneth Cole Reaction, all work for me. I have low hangers, but I've never noticed any kind of underwear discomfort.

I love that this thread is over six years old and still going

by Anonymousreply 245December 21, 2019 5:10 PM

I'm still a tighty whitey Hanes guy. Maybe black if I'm feeling sexy.

Uniqlo is my favorite at the moment

by Anonymousreply 250February 22, 2020 7:46 PM

UNIQLO has soft pima cotton boxer briefs offered in great patterns at amazing prices. You can even wear them around the pool.

I used to wear CK but about 3 years ago switched to SAXX. They are fantastic.

H&M boxer briefs.

And what’s everyday underwear OP? You don’t wear them everyday? Have special ones for when you [blank]?

Square cut or trunks are more comfortable than boxer briefs - all the benefits of both tighty whiteys and boxer briefs without the leg bunching of the boxer briefs and riding up or tight elastic leg openings of tighties.

I've tried them all and found Meundies to be the best.

Super comfortable and long lasting.

Something simple like this for when I'm in the back yard.

Right now, it's so called my everyday underwear is long thermals. I have 2xist or Hanes Essentials (Target).

I just want some comfortable and durable boxer briefs.

by Anonymousreply 269January 1, 2022 7:51 PM

Intimissimi is not bad for what OP asks: good cuts and respectable (not flashy) style, cotton fabric, good construction and longevity, reasonable prices. Better than Hanes at its past best, if not a showy name brand in 2.5" letters.

by Anonymousreply 270January 1, 2022 8:03 PM

Hanro and Bonds are my favorites.

by Anonymousreply 272February 10, 2023 3:20 PM

Hanes and FOTL are so cheap if you buy the big packs on sale that their shorter life isn't a big deal. As said, avoid the dryer and bleach to extend their life.

by Anonymousreply 273February 10, 2023 3:47 PM

Fruit of the Loom lasts longer and is better than Hanes. Hanes falls apart after one wash.

I just googled these and they look very high waisted, like old men's tighty whities that are worn up to the chin.. I don't see the big pouch either.

The best underwear is My Package, but I don't even know if they make them anymore and they were like $40 a pair. I thought I scored on ebay but they were faux. Fake designer I could understand, but I never knew that there was a market for counterfeit manties.

When did underwear get so expensive? Just decent underwear like Saxx, My Packag, Underarmor, or the better versions of Calvin Klein are like 30+ a pair. We are not even talking about Tom Ford or Versace.

Gays are really too much now, what happened to the artistic and innovative gays, now you're all concerned about your boxes and then go buy 34 dollar underwear?!!

How is a thread that began so long ago still open?

by Anonymousreply 280May 17, 2023 7:05 PM

There are countless threads still active from pre2017
