Yes, she really was Amelia Earhart. Why? Because I want to believe it. There's no evidence to support it, quite the opposite, but it makes me feel good. I just couldn't make it through the day if I didn't believe that Amelia Earhart lived the rest of her life as a New Jersey banker.
The story of how she came to be known is interesting. Some eldergay wrote a book about Amelia Earhart and Irene Bolam showed up at the book signing wearing a propeller broach that Amelia also had. The author of the book swore he recognized her as Amelia Earhart and ran with the story.
