I have never quite gotten over my love for Totino's plain cheese pizzas. I find the pizza rolls abhorrent, but the pizzas are fantastic. My babysitter used to make them for me when I was a kid, and to this day I still love them, even though they are absolute garbage food.

I cannot find the old style frozen pizza. It came in a clear wrapper, sometimes there would be two pizzas. It had no crust around the edges and was thicker than thin crust.

I haven’t had one of these in probably 40 years but I used to love the pizzas in a box. You’d make the dough, stretch it out on a pizza pan, and add the included sauce and grated “Parmesan” cheese. I guess they still sell them, but I wouldn’t think they would sell many. Ain’t nobody got time for that nowadays.

I would rank them at the bottom of all the high end chocolatiers-
See's chocolates taste AWESOME for the price you pay- I think that they offer the best value- And there is really no other chocolate out there at their price point- Its very Nordstromish.
I also think that John and Kira's have some of the freshest chocolates for the premium price you pay. You get VERY little for the cost.
Teuscher I would say is worth the cost, and my favorite premium chocolate is La Maison Du Chocolat- Worth every penny.

I went 20 years without ever touching that stuff because I was woke, healthy, doing the right thing. On a whim a year ago I got a McD quarter w/ cheese when on a quick lunch rush. OMG! It was hot, melty and totally delicious! Later, I decided to try BK. The Whopper was awesomely smokey, messy, and decadent. Moved on to the chicken joints. Popeyes is amazing. I find DiGiorno rising crust supreme pizza is quite great if you bake it just right. Slightly undercooked, so the dough expands but stays soft.
I find that's a general rule for all frozen pizza. When you bake it too long or too high temperature the crust dehydrates and turns to styrofoam. You have to catch it just in time.

Luckily for my pancreas, I only do this 2-3 times a year.

| by Anonymous | reply 120 | November 3, 2019 7:14 AM |
It's typical of the fuckery, R120. The prohibition was on "hot drinks," which was thought to mean coffee and tea. Somewhere along the line someone decided that it must have actually meant caffeine and a lot of people went along with that. A few years ago the church clarified things: caffeine is fine but not coffee and tea.
So now they have soda places everywhere and minivans snaking around the block because what better to wash down all of those benzos and antidepressants than a 44-ounce soda and a half-pound cookie?
As I said, fuckery.

Deviled ham, yes; Spam, no.

Stouffer's frozen meatloaf, the family size because it's mostly gravy anyway. And mashed potatoes, the pre-made ones work fine.

Has anyone tried any of the Pioneer Woman's packaged food? Seems like that would be the epitome of trashy.

Funny you should ask, R131, because I just picked up some of her frozen sausage ravioli today at the 99 Cent Store! I would never have bought it at full price, but for a buck I decided there was nothing to lose. They were ok. There was a whole shelf full of the ravioli and some breaded zucchini...they must not have sold well in the regular supermarket.

I don't like the Pioneer Woman, nor do I trust her cooking acumen. Also, why the hell does she need her own food line? Doesn't she own have of Oklahoma already with her husband?
| by Anonymous | reply 133 | November 4, 2019 4:57 AM |
I would never buy that woman's shit. She is a greedy bitch who is trying to get more millions, or maybe billions by now, than she already has. She has opened up every kind of business possible in that miserable little town and it's still not enough for her so now she sells this unhealthy, vile tasting shit across the country. For me it's the shame with Oprah's supermarket shit. Most of the greed in life I have not choice of contributing to or not, with these kinds of things I do.
| by Anonymous | reply 134 | November 4, 2019 3:12 PM |
So, the Pioneer Woman found a niche, capitalized on it, and became successful.
Why the hatred over someone's success...???

Top Ramen, drained, use 1/2 of seasoning packet & butter. I will add a soft boiled egg and bacon bits to the creamy chicken one.
Cup Noodles or Maruchan instant ramen
Spaghettios with sliced franks
Stouffers creamed chipped beef on toast or English Muffins, Old Bay seasoning on top
Fritos Scoops with the canned bean dip
Oscar Mayer bologna sandwiches on white bread or heated in the oven till it curls
Dodger Dogs

R101, Here's your answer as to why certain fast-food places are addictive:
In the late ’90s I used to work for Nestle FIS, the food ingredients company of Nestle. If it were still in use, as I think it is - McDonald’s (and other fastfood companies) make good use of hydrolysed vegetable proteins (HVPs) as flavor.
These are plant proteins (either acid- or enzyme-hydrolysed) that are dosed at low amounts (0.05–0.2% in total product as consumed). These are used for ‘extended’ processed meats to boost the taste of the target meat taste. HVPs provide the base umami flavor - it is a generic, basic meat flavor. It forms some sort of a platform for the minced meat in the food recipe. HVP lingers in your palate as it binds to all water/oil/saliva/fat/cooking oil - long after the food is consumed. You actually need to brush it off with a minty toothpaste to rid of that umami taste.
These are usual flavouring ingredients that is used across the board in gravies, breading, BBQ powder mixes, cheese powders, instant soups and sauces. No need to worry about them. They are ubiquitous as there are cheap snacks and fast-food around.

Ruffles cheddar and sour cream potato chips. The orange powder coating has a salty creamy unctuousness that cannot be replicated in the natural world.
Can’t stop, won’t stop.

[quote][R95], if you want to make what I call Peep Jerkey you buy a few boxes and piece with cellophane with a few holes and let them sit for a few months, then they're nice and chewy.
A faster way is to put them in the freezer the cold air dehydrates them in a day or two.

R132, My 99 Cent Store occasional sells many very popular grocery store items like Oscar Meyer turkey cold cuts, Best's Kosher hot dogs, 64-oz Mountain High plain yogurt, Atkins beef with portobello mushrooms. Vegans go crazy over the Odwalla Juice and smoothie options. Doesn't mean these items are losers/failures.

Chili-cheese fries. Or various other loaded fries (including poutine.)

R82 Marie Calendar's pot pies are delicious too. Another vote for Stouffer's mac n cheese. So cheddary!

I got down with those too R144. The crunchy glaze on the crust is to die for. Suzie Qs are delicious too.

R146 I miss the original BBQ Glaze Shake n' Bake. They added flour to the original, for a short while calling it "New & Improved", and it wasn't popular with fans of the original. The texture was a bit gummy. Then it disappeared. So sad!

r144 I used to love those when I was in high school in the '60s. They sold them at our snack bar. I bet if I'd kept one I bought in 1969 it would still be edible today.

r132 I dropped in to my 99 Cents Only store today and they didn't have any of the Pioneer Woman stuff. I don't know where to find it -- the website product locator says that Walmarts have it, but I haven't found any of her frozen stuff there.
| by Anonymous | reply 149 | November 5, 2019 4:59 AM |
Tombstone or Jack's hamburger pizza, god damn that stuff is amazing.
I also unabashedly like Taco Bell. I don't care for Doritos anymore but I will eat the hell out of a Dorito taco.

The family size is gross, I don't know if you've had it before but a couple months ago I was in a mood for the Stouffer's mac & cheese so I bought it for a side dish with some chicken. It was awful. Looked like the individual sizes but tasted like chewy cardboard.
Another Stouffer's dinner I still get if I can find it is their Welsh Rarebit. Have it over toast, yum.

Hostess cherry cheese danish!

Hostess pies were gross but delicious for a growing boy. The lardy sugary crust hit the spot.

[quote]Another vote for White Castles (aka rectal rockets).
Don't know if it's true but I read years ago that a large amount of White Castles was ground liver, beef liver so they can claim it as all beef but that was the reason so many had stomach distress from a simple burger, although many people eat huge amounts at a time since there are bite size.

The Blackberry Hostess pies were the best. Usually only available in the fall.

I used to have really bad asthma with frequent attacks. I was in the ER very often. There was a White Castle in the same neighborhood the hospital was in. I swear, at least a dozen times over the few years I went to that ER there was always a case/cases of food poisoning that came in with the patients saying they ate at White Castle a few hours before. Who knows how many came in when I wasn't there.

Campbell's Thai Lemongrass Chicken Curry Skillet Sauce. Just add chicken, peppers, onions, and green chiles, and it is unbelievably authentic for Campbell's. I make Basmati rice, and it's so easy.
