But if you don't like what they're going to do
You better not stop them 'cause they're coming through
All bound for Mu Mu Land
Hey, hey! 🕺🏻

A piece of perfect clubbing fabulosity. I don't know how many times I danced to this Xed and Ked out of my head. I still don't know what it means and I don't care.
Thanks, OP!

In college, I loved this song and I bought the cassingle. One weekend driving home to see my parents, it got stuck in my piece of shit car stereo. It’s all I could listen to for 2 hours. I didn’t like it as much after that weekend!

Pure ear candy. Loved this.

The song (and The KLF themselves) is inspired by 1975's 'The Illuminatus Trilogy,' about the ancient people, the Mu, who lived around the time of the Atlanteans in legend. The Mu eventually left Earth to explore the stars thousands of years ago.
In "Justified & Ancient," the Mu return to Earth.

I very good snapshot of my college days. And, perhaps fittingly, I still don't understand it.

This has just been awarded the DL Sentence of the Day.

Your car didn't have a radio?

I know I’ve been here too long when this is the third thread I’ve seen started specifically for this song I’ll say again what I’ve said before, I loved it then and still do. But thanks for the brief primer R5, THATS good, new info!

Omg I’ve outlived Tammy Wynette!

You could've turned it off and sung.

When Tammy was murdered by her shit eating husband, he was found dancing around singing to this in the living room

Where’d they pick up the ice cream van? During their intergalactic travels? Or is it all they could afford after their understandably expensive trip?

Love this. Now there would be screams of colonialism what with the images of Africans giving tribute to a white queen figure.

I love one of the comments on the YouTube link that references a food truck for Chinese food in a converted Mr. Tastee van in Sheffield, UK on which is painted "We justified and we're Asians and we drive an ice cream van".

Some of the Justified videos don’t have Tammy’s voice. A copyright issue, I think.
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 4, 2021 11:58 PM |
The original song on the album does NOT have Tammy's voice on it. The KLF did a second version with Tammy's vocals, and made it a bonus track on the album after it became a hit.
The Black KLF woman sang the song on the album.

The KLF is one of the most fascinating stories in modern pop music ever. The story of their career and all the wild stunts they pulled is amazing.

Thanks Miss OP. Brings back great memories.

The March 1971 issue of JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA (#88) had the JLA battling the Mu who had returned to Earth.
[quote]With the destruction of the continent of Mu, its people had escaped into space on an ark-like ship. Now they return to Earth, to find their former home inhabited by 3½ billion humans whom they deem too inferior to be allowed to live. They cause destructive natural forces to ravage various locales, and the Justice League is gathered to try to prevent disaster.
No mention of ice cream vans in 1971. I guess The Mu waited 20 years until 1991 to travel the world in their ice cream van.

R31 After getting their butts kicked by the JLA, they had no choice but to make an ice cream van with spare parts of their spaceship.

What R23 said. The original "The White Room" album had radically different versions of the songs that were later released as singles. The whole concept and the singles campaign was a work of pure, unadulterated genius. This particular version with Tammy Wynette captures everything that was so amazing about The KLF.

Let me ask the question:
“What Time Is Love?!”
MU MU!!!!
MU MU!!!!!!!!!!!

Because this thread got me feeling nostalgic, I started a KLF Channel on Pandora the other day. The result was pretty surprising: besides KLF, a consistent playing of Bananarama, Madonna and Fleetwood Mac. Yeah, there’s an occasional different artist, but it’s been so consistent as to be noticeable.

Justified and ancient, you say? Sounds like a certain political party on the brink of extinction!

Oh this song takes me there. Heard it for the first time at Splash bar in NYC. This was when you could still get into bars underage (if you were cute enough ha).
Such crazy, fabulous times!!
Oh - then there’s this. (see link). The KLF were totally mad.

Back in the 1980s Dolly had a weekly show on TV. I swear I remember her doing a version of this song. Does anyone have a link? I tried a while back to find one, but no luck!

Tammy dying at 55 is truly tragic.
She'd only be 78 if she were alive today.

R39...You must have been dreaming. This sing did not exist in the 80s.

I wonder how they felt after burning a million quid. I bet it felt anticlimactic.
