The Worldwide Privacy Tour - South Park

Will Lainey Gossip or Omid address this at all? Will they ignore?

by Anonymousreply 181March 3, 2023 9:19 PM

I loved it. That bitch Meghan got lambasted.

by Anonymousreply 1February 19, 2023 4:18 AM

I'm still laughing, as the British tabloids post all about how the Sucksexes are discussing things with their attorneys.

Oh, please sue, and make Stone and Parker the happiest boys in America!

by Anonymousreply 2February 19, 2023 4:19 AM

It was damn funny, and couldn't happen to two bigger lyin assholes. MAH PRIVACAH!

by Anonymousreply 3February 19, 2023 4:25 AM

Is it true that there's going to be a part 2 ?

by Anonymousreply 4February 19, 2023 5:01 AM

Best parts for me: the 'victim' identity in all the branding, all the private jets landing on the lawns, and shooting off fireworks yelling for no one to look at them. I thought the part where he leaves the branding place and sincerely wants to be 'a normal person' and she stays behind was prob the most cutting (and accurate) moment

by Anonymousreply 5February 19, 2023 5:03 AM

They really went to town on her. "your questionable wife" was a favorite! The messy hair they gave her, "Instagram loving bitch wife", the echo when he looks inside her head and yells " hello" lmfao.

by Anonymousreply 6February 19, 2023 6:35 AM

My favorite part was when he opens her head and yells hello? Cracked me up.

by Anonymousreply 7February 20, 2023 2:36 AM

The dangling tendrils were in full view.

by Anonymousreply 8February 20, 2023 2:38 AM

Also Prince Harry’s new book “Waah.”

by Anonymousreply 9February 20, 2023 3:15 AM

The thing that actually made me laugh the hardest was when they showed the beloved dead Queen of Canada carried in to the Abbey in her coffin, and her corpse was all contorted and she had Xs instead of eyes. That was so tasteless and unexpected I burst out laughing.

by Anonymousreply 10February 20, 2023 3:54 AM

Snerk!

I want to know how long ago they started writing and animating this episode. Usually TV shows take months to assemble, I want to know if they started on this before or after the release of "Spare".

by Anonymousreply 11February 20, 2023 6:09 AM

I'm not sure why I'm so shocked - but I am. And proud of them for their brass balls. Suck on it, Suckasses and Oprah!

by Anonymousreply 12February 20, 2023 6:14 AM

Please make a Part 2 and title it "Back Fat."

by Anonymousreply 14February 20, 2023 6:44 AM

Their animation isn't good enough to depict back fat, R14.

And the title "WORLDWIDE PRIVACY TOUR" is sheer fucking genius! Nailed it!

by Anonymousreply 15February 20, 2023 7:11 AM

I loved the part about Harry rubbing his todger against the window (with squeaking sounds) while yelling about privacy. The whole thing was hilarious!

by Anonymousreply 16February 20, 2023 7:36 AM

The “victim” branding was so spot-on. They lasered right in on an odious contagion in the current culture.

by Anonymousreply 17February 20, 2023 7:38 AM

As a Brit paper said: not a lampooning – a harpooning. It was a lethally witty, brilliantly crafted piece, right down to the stomach-over-the-belt of the Branding manager.

by Anonymousreply 18February 20, 2023 4:09 PM

Any news about ratings? I can't tell you how many "I've never watched SP, but I'm watching this!" comments I've seen.

by Anonymousreply 19February 20, 2023 4:54 PM

I'm in the UK. I hear more about H&M on DL than I ever do here, but the South Park ep was on the news.

by Anonymousreply 20February 20, 2023 4:58 PM

The episode really is very well constructed, and a fine example of the satiric power Stone and Parker still are capable of.

Shooting holes into branding and using that as the theme, with the inauthentic cravenness and stupidity of the Two Lice in that context was brilliant.

by Anonymousreply 23February 20, 2023 6:54 PM

The best!! Harried was so right when he shared his opinion that the First Amendment was whack...for him No one should have free speech, but him.

Will he or won't he try to muzzle Americans?

I would assume after over 20 years on the air, South Park's lawyers and writers know what they can and cannot put on air without crossing a (legal) line.

My question is, when the fuck are we getting a Ben Affleck/Jennifer Lopez sequel episode???

by Anonymousreply 27February 21, 2023 12:25 AM

I don't think we're getting a Bennifer sequel episode, since the original one would be considered racist by modern nutters. All those "taco-flavored kisses" jokes about a girl from New York won't fly now.

by Anonymousreply 28February 21, 2023 12:53 AM

Taco-flavored kisses - and JLo as an actual taco - is genius. I used to think it was crude - now I think it is possibly the funniest show ever. Brilliant cutting comedy.

by Anonymousreply 29February 21, 2023 2:45 AM

I can't wait until the two dimwitted twats bring their pretend lawsuit. Imagine them being deposed. The laughs abound.

by Anonymousreply 30February 21, 2023 4:14 AM

The bad thing for Harry and Meghan is that, for all their irreverence, the creators of South Park are fairly timid. They don’t usually take on the popular, they take in those who are already down (usually deservedly). The episode is a confirmation they were already finished.

by Anonymousreply 31February 21, 2023 2:56 PM

It’s parody and they’re not mentioned by name. They could sue but they would lose or be thrown out of court. They have no case, and no respectable attorney would or should take it on.

by Anonymousreply 32February 21, 2023 4:27 PM

I hope they make a sequel 'cause it was freaking hilarious!

by Anonymousreply 33February 21, 2023 4:30 PM

Obviously, R33. My point is that they will pretend that they will sue when they no intention of doing it.

by Anonymousreply 34February 21, 2023 5:13 PM

The South park episode should be nominated and win and Emmy.

by Anonymousreply 35February 21, 2023 5:31 PM

One wonders which room in her mansion Meghan has chosen to do her performative weeping.

by Anonymousreply 36February 21, 2023 5:32 PM

Just as a reminder, when the reflexive "she's black and was an empress before she became a princess" comes up, Markle identified as white throughout her early life and switched (at times) to darker makeup because it now serves her BRAND.

What a cunt.

by Anonymousreply 37February 21, 2023 5:45 PM

R37 what’s wrong with dat, homie?

by Anonymousreply 38February 21, 2023 5:56 PM

And on the floor, of course, r36.

How did SP handle Dimbo's issues with free speech?

by Anonymousreply 39February 21, 2023 10:47 PM

I'm curious - would Charles (and William, for that matter) think this episode was good, because it may help Harry and Meghan to shut the fuck up ?? Or would he think it was bad because it hurts the BRF, having such an idiot member make such a food of himself on the world stage? Or could they even be concerned that Harry might have a breakdown, or worse?

by Anonymousreply 40February 21, 2023 11:17 PM

How does it "hurt the BRF?" Hazza has nothing to do with the business end of the family, and can't even get anyone except Huge on the phone. The Dumb Sussex cachet slips further and further down each time they open their lying yaps.

by Anonymousreply 41February 22, 2023 3:17 AM

One of their funniest ever.

by Anonymousreply 42February 22, 2023 3:35 AM

Lol - The Earl of Halifax farts in Meghan's face at the Queen's funeral. This was very good.

by Anonymousreply 43February 22, 2023 4:32 AM

Megs is never referred to as a princess only The Prince’s Wife, even betterThe Prince’s Bitch Wife. She’s skewered more than her dimwit husband in this episode.

by Anonymousreply 44February 22, 2023 4:48 AM

r40 I think the family might wince at the depiction of the Queen, but other than that, they came out of it well. Also, the fact that baby Ike is a hyper Royalist still crying about her death 4 months after the funeral was funny and a weirdly touching little detail.

by Anonymousreply 45February 22, 2023 6:58 AM

Even though I’ve been a bit more sympathetic than most around here to these two attention whores, I absolutely howled during this episode. Harry rubbing his dick on Kyle’s window while impotently demanding respect for his privacy was genius.

Everytime Kyle exasperatedly wished they would just shut up and go away I completely understood the sentiment.

When the prince opened his wife’s squeaking garbage-can lid head and his voice echoed through her empty interior: pure genius!

by Anonymousreply 46February 22, 2023 7:16 AM

R46 Those were my favorites too, it was hilarious!

by Anonymousreply 47February 22, 2023 7:25 AM

[quote]I loved the part about Harry rubbing his todger against the window (with squeaking sounds) while yelling about privacy.

Was the blue penis an allusion to his royal blood, or in reference to the bit in his book about frostbite where he rubbed Elizabeth Arden cream on his penis while thinking about his mom?

by Anonymousreply 48February 22, 2023 7:37 AM

The blue todgered Harry as a peeping Tom who screams about privacy while rubbing his frozen dick against the window glass was absolutely fantastic.

by Anonymousreply 49February 22, 2023 7:37 AM

Just a reminder that "Trapped in the Closet" won an Emmy....

by Anonymousreply 50February 22, 2023 8:35 AM

Yes, since they are not named, one assumes that in a legal case they would have to prove the empty-headed, grasping, narcissistic idiots depicted in the show were clearly them and no-one else; while over at their table, Parker and Stone take notes for the next episode.

Talk about hilarity ensues.

by Anonymousreply 51February 22, 2023 1:25 PM

Parody is covered by the First Amendment.

The Supreme Court settled that in a case involving parody that was even more vicious. A fake "When Was Your First Time?" ad, wherein Jerry Falwell recalls having sex with his mother in an outhouse.

That went further than South Park. And they used real names.

America libel laws are different from British ones (which is why Liberace sued in England) because of the 1st Amendment.

by Anonymousreply 52February 22, 2023 1:56 PM

I think the episode made just as much fun of people who are obsessed with the BRF as it did of Harry & Meghan.

by Anonymousreply 53February 22, 2023 2:00 PM

Were they making fun of Harry's "I must protect my family!!!" overreaction?

by Anonymousreply 54February 22, 2023 3:51 PM

So now they have broken their silence about litigating SP. Wh??

1. Trying to get ahead of the story, since some legal secretary has them on tape talking to lawyer about litigation, replete with major whinge & finest whine.

2. Someone told them SP hoping they will sue so they can do Privacy Tour Part 2.

3.The few who would take their calls, have stopped taking their calls.

by Anonymousreply 55February 22, 2023 3:58 PM

I thought it was funny, but it went for (and stole) an easy shot.

For well over a year, the comments section of the Daily Mail has been full of "Give Us Our Privacy!" jokes. And other comedy sources have made that joke, too.

And it's sort of based on an error. The annoying couple did not demand privacy, but more of an end to the lies and racism. But that isn't as easy to joke about.

I do hope that Harry and Meghan will see this, realize they are losing the house, and STFU.

by Anonymousreply 57February 22, 2023 3:59 PM

They have no other game. They will never shut up.

by Anonymousreply 58February 22, 2023 4:05 PM

Nope r53. R57 they most definitely did demand their privacy. Go back and check again. Harry said that very thing. Nice try.

by Anonymousreply 60February 22, 2023 4:20 PM

R59 They claim the Palace was leaking lies about Meghan.

I don't follow this closely enough to know what those "lies" were or whether or not they were indeed lies.

by Anonymousreply 61February 22, 2023 4:20 PM

I did a Google search of Prince Harry and Privacy and got this.

I don't know how accurate it is.

by Anonymousreply 62February 22, 2023 4:23 PM

R61 it’s all very “out there” floating in space. It’s like when you get in an argument with a crazy bitch and you’re like, what are you talking about? Very vague, abstract, ideological “lies”. Mental abuse. Gaslighting.

The general public has little sympathy for a pair of extremely wealthy ingrates. They can whine endlessly about how hard things are for themselves, but they don't know what hard times are.

And THAT is why their fake humanitarians act has flopped big time. It's so goddamned obvious it's all for themselves, it's always only been for and about themselves.

You don't have to hate them to enjoy watching them get their comeuppance.

[quote]Were they making fun of Harry's "I must protect my family!!!" overreaction?

I haven't seen that phrase used in the SP episode from the clips I've seen. But I suppose that could be an episode in itself! Every move this pair has made is completely inconsistent to 'protecting' their children down the road. They are ridiculous!

by Anonymousreply 65February 22, 2023 5:26 PM

Haha this is great! I love talking about these 2 non stop like this!

by Anonymousreply 67February 22, 2023 7:55 PM

[quote]The general public has little sympathy for a pair of extremely wealthy ingrates.

Really? Who's the most popular member of the Royal Family? Hmm? Who?

by Anonymousreply 68February 22, 2023 7:58 PM

Catherine, The Princess of Wales, r68.

OTOH, Markle: tyrannical Reitmans spokesmodel who dreamt of being the face of L'Oréal at r269. What would have become of her if she hadn't landed Harry?

by Anonymousreply 72February 22, 2023 11:45 PM

R62 Harry is on video stating he wants his privacy.

by Anonymousreply 73February 22, 2023 11:59 PM

The Duke of Sussex spoke candidly about his "right to privacy" in a video interview during the 2016 Invictus Games, the same year he met now-wife Meghan Markle.

by Anonymousreply 74February 23, 2023 12:07 AM

In an interview on the BBC's The Andrew Marr Show, to mark Sunday's opening in Florida of the Invictus Games, Prince Harry said:

"Everyone has a right to privacy. Sadly that line between public and private life is almost non-existent any more. We will continue to do our best to ensure that there is the line."

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 75February 23, 2023 12:11 AM

Meghsn also talked about privacy being a basic right in the Oprah interview. As usual, the Sussexes lie about things that are very easily disproved.

by Anonymousreply 76February 23, 2023 12:15 AM

Perhaps, technically, they have never uttered the exact words “we want privacy” in that order. Maybe that’s what they mean. Because they’ve said it every other way, in words and with their actions and through their proxies.

Meghan likes to get technical that way. Unless she “forgot”. Because that happens, too. She forgets. It’s not perjury. She just forgot.

by Anonymousreply 77February 23, 2023 12:57 AM

What would have become of Meg if she hadn't landed Harry?

Job in sales, possibly real estate, marrying some upper-middle class guy(s) who could give her a decent lifestyle, continuing attempts to become a social media star, enough children to nail down the current marriage and increase her Instagram following among women 30-50. She isn't a good person, but she isn't crazy. Just as self-centered as a gyroscope.

by Anonymousreply 78February 23, 2023 4:17 AM

I haven't really been following celeb gossip since around Christmas. Other stuff has been going on and grabbing my attention.

But I did hear about the SP episode and when I came to catch up, I saw H&M are still responding to *everything*, putting out a statement that they won't be suing (because we all know they can't sue) just because they have to address anything that goes on in their little niche section of news. Like, their true, devoted haters are just a small base of Karen's and H&M are obsessed with them.

What a sorry existence.

by Anonymousreply 79February 23, 2023 4:39 AM

R79, I read Harry's idiotic book, and FYI he spent about 30 years desperately wanting to put out statements contradicting everything that the press ever said about him. Like when he was doing drugs one place, he wanted the Palace to put out statements saying that tabloid articles saying he did drugs was a complete lie, because they got the location where he did drugs wrong (no, really). He's always wanted to put out statements denying every little petty thing, even if it's true or partially true, and has spent his adult life refusing to believe that a barrage of contradictory statements would be a better way to manage his image than the Palace press office's subtle ways of managing relationships with the press, or the Queen's "Never explain, never complain".

And BTW, this is something that comes straight from Harry, not Meg. Well, maybe Meg agrees, but according to Harry's ghostwriter Harry has wanted to do things this way since he was a teenager.

by Anonymousreply 80February 23, 2023 5:18 AM

R80 Thank you for your sacrifice. Didn't read the book, but I'm more than willing to believe that Meghan married for money and is now earning every cent.

by Anonymousreply 81February 23, 2023 5:29 AM

R81, add fame to money as her reasons to marry the village idiot.

by Anonymousreply 82February 23, 2023 6:39 AM

He is SO ugly at r75. No way could I face being tied to that fugly idiot. Not for 100M or whatever it is they are supposed to have in the bank, plus worldwide fame (now notoriety). And she looks porky in the first two pics at r69. How she ever looked in the mirror and thought she'd make it in one of the most vapid industries in the world is beyond my understanding. It's not like she's an acting talent. Just a desperate famewhore.

by Anonymousreply 83February 23, 2023 7:31 AM

R83 it boggles the mind. She was below average looking for the richer parts of LA, I’m still confused as to how she ever got hot girl roles. Definitely casting couch.

by Anonymousreply 84February 23, 2023 7:42 AM

Oh, I think Meghan is pretty. On the outside. I think she has a pretty face, ugly body. Harry used to be hot (like all Windsors, for a brief time) but has entered fuggo territory. At least he hasn’t gotten fat.

The South Park episode was mild, IMO. Those guys do really raunchy and offensive jokes. I still remember an episode that had a bike whose seat was a dildo and had some other dildo that went in the rider’s mouth. They could have put Harry on one, or concocted some other thing for Meghan. Instead they just mocked their hypocrisy (rather gently, IMO) and branding efforts.

by Anonymousreply 85February 23, 2023 11:43 AM

[quote] He is SO ugly at [R75].

I don’t find him attractive either and never have. I will say that I think Megan does. He resembles her first husband.

by Anonymousreply 86February 23, 2023 12:46 PM

[quote] FYI he spent about 30 years desperately wanting to put out statements contradicting everything that the press ever said about him.

He learned that from Charles. Remember when the Oprah interview came out, Charles wanted to put out a statement refuting every point.

by Anonymousreply 87February 23, 2023 12:46 PM

Harry was the press and public's golden boy for nearly 30 years.

What infuriates him most now is that suddenly he was not told "Yes. Of course. Whatever you want." after Meghan came in and started creating an abusive workplace at KP. It spiralled outwards from there. Him defensively and offensively lashing out at KP staff, BP staff, family, even at the Royal Rota press corps - on and on and on. He did it so intensely that stories got out. Losing 13 staff in 12 months is no mean achievement. "What Meghan Wants, Meghan GETS!", so on and so forth, that he managed to turn an entire country of indulgent, affectionate lifelong fans into shocked and disgusted people who want nothing to do with him.

Everyone forgets one major influence on his life. Yes being Royal, obviously, then Diana's death, but what everyone forgets is that he was coddled, indulged, forgiven and gently chuckled at by the entire British public even when he did awful things. They transferred their love for Diana onto "cheeky chappie" Harry wholesale. He was never truly criticised, and never really told "No." too sternly by anyone. He literally grew up like that for decades on end.

He really DOES believe he is above criticism. He's never *truly* known severe criticism until staff began fleeing his employ in tears - and in droves. That led to questions, and when those questions were answered with the tales of how the couple treated everybody, the public turned. A completely new experience for Harry, being anything but the most popular Royal after the Queen herself. He is enraged by the sea change, cannot understand it, and has her whispering self-justifying explanations and accusations of others in his ear.

A fucking mess. I cannot see how he can come back from this.

by Anonymousreply 88February 23, 2023 1:43 PM

Part of his resentment towards the press has to be from years of observing his mother’s obsession with it.

by Anonymousreply 89February 23, 2023 1:59 PM

Yes, that could contribute to it, r89. But I think the real core of his resentment comes from the fact that the press was ultra-kind to him for decades, and then suddenly began reporting him as he truly was because his behaviour simply spiralled to a new abusive level they could no longer indulgently ignore.

He never recognised that the media were, in fact, being exceedingly kind to him, without fail, until recently. To him, that kindness was merely the way the ought to treat him by right. That's why he's so infuriated and confused by this new media reality his behaviour has instigated and unleashed. We can all now see what an asshole he truly is through the Oprah interview, the Netflix show and the book, not through media reporting. His own words and deeds reveal him to be a grade-A fuckwit with a ridiculous sense of entitlement and a severe nasty streak. Meanwhile he's been reported on since birth and only in the last couple of years have we seen what an exteme asshole he is. That's because the Gloves Were Firmly On. He can't stand that the gloves are off now because he never understood that only the softest of velvety media gloves have been very much on for his entire previous life.

by Anonymousreply 90February 23, 2023 2:27 PM

R88 is right, the “cheeky chappy” vs dutiful William (who actually seems quite engaging in those meet and greets). He might have hated the media reporting on his foibles but the public loved it. He was the most popular royal for years…until Meghan. I don’t think his personality changed necessarily but the Oprah interview was mistake. His big chance to rectify all those press errors instead revealed the character he was all along, spoiled, petulant, duuuumb.

by Anonymousreply 91February 23, 2023 2:43 PM

Can we return to discussing the episode and how funny it was?

by Anonymousreply 92February 23, 2023 6:59 PM

It really seems more obvious now that neither are particularly intelligent.

by Anonymousreply 93February 23, 2023 7:46 PM

That was already a given, R93.

by Anonymousreply 94February 23, 2023 7:50 PM

R94. Well, people thought she was the brains at first.

by Anonymousreply 95February 23, 2023 10:36 PM

SP got her exactly right at the end. The Prince of Canada looks into the empty trash can that she is & its hollow....That's her in a nutshell.

by Anonymousreply 96February 23, 2023 10:40 PM

"Yes, that could contribute to it, [R89]. But I think the real core of his resentment comes from the fact that the press was ultra-kind to him for decades"

No. I read his book, and he has believed the press was abusive since he was a teenager at least, there's a hilarious bit in the book where he first talks about smoking dope with his chums at Eton... and then flipped out because the horrible evil gutter press has printed "lies" about him using drugs!

It's all like that, through the whole book. He has absolutely no clue that the press was in fact being kind to him and that the Palace was hushing up a lot of his bad behavior, to this day he believes the Palace should have demanded retractions of stories, because they got the location where he used illegal drugs wrong, even if they were absolutely right about his using illegal drugs. He also absolutely, positively believes that his mother dies because of paps chasing her, and that her driver being drunk was not a factor, and because he's projected all his Oedipal issues onto his wife, he thinks that the press will kill her too if he isn't given the kind of security that most heads of state dream of. When it comes to his thoughts about the press, he's somewhere between irrational and batshit.

by Anonymousreply 97February 23, 2023 10:50 PM

I love how the show had him say he hates journalists, then he gets accused of being one himself, for reporting on the royal family.

IRL, the letter he wrote to the press blasting them for for their coverage of Markle was only ever going to cause trouble. Same when later the Harkles further criticised DM and the red tops and told them they wouldn't co-operate with them anymore. And then in one of the Megxit missives, the Harkles stated they'd work with grass-roots journalists, but their first post-Megxit interview was with Oprah, with Gayle King serving up morsels in the aftermath.

South Park could have gone a lot further in laying out the hypocrisy and own goals. Then there's the bullying...

by Anonymousreply 98February 23, 2023 11:18 PM

Great comment from elsewhere:

"He reminds me of a shit Batman. A spoiled rich boy who admittedly suffered a terrible trauma as a child, but can't grow-up and set aside his bitterness and obsessive fixation on the people he feels killed his parent(s), and has made it his life's mission to get his revenge."

by Anonymousreply 100February 24, 2023 8:59 PM

Well, Harry fans, for only $33 you can enroll to view (and ask questions?) of Prince Harry "in conversation with Dr Gabor Maté - sought after celebrity expert on trauma, addiction, stress and childhood development."

Isn't this exciting? Saturday, March 4, Noon, Eastern Time.

So, Harried is extending his whinging whining tour?? And with an expert on childhood trauma & abuse. All that's left is for Harry to 'reveal' he was sexually abused, but like the racist claim re: Archie, he won't 'disclose' who touched his todger to 'protect them'. Also, that's why he & meghan have such a bond, she is also a survivor of abuse.

Back rolls? BACK ROLLS?

I think Alyssa Edwards should play Meghan in a TV movie.

by Anonymousreply 105February 25, 2023 4:42 PM

His therapy is a joke. Remember when he showed how to tap your shoulders to relieve your trauma? That works - yeah, right.

by Anonymousreply 107February 25, 2023 5:44 PM

r57 Look at the Sussex Royal website. The first few lines and paragraphs. They effectively did ask for privacy saying they wanted to remove the medias public interest defence for reporting on them. It's not that they didn't push for privacy its that they want contradictory irreconcilable things because emotionally they seem to function like teenagers.

by Anonymousreply 108February 25, 2023 6:39 PM

Comedy Central is going to do Super Bowl numbers for Wednesday’s replay

by Anonymousreply 111February 26, 2023 12:02 PM

If it’s followed by a Part2, it may quite literally implode the internets

by Anonymousreply 112February 26, 2023 2:49 PM

[quote] she is also a survivor of abuse.

Before her Thomas Markle is cold, the moment he draws his last breath, she’ll be SPEAKING HER TRUTH that he abused her.

by Anonymousreply 113February 26, 2023 7:01 PM

Abused her with every last dollar he made

by Anonymousreply 114February 26, 2023 7:04 PM

A Penguin RH executive was interviewed about the book's success. He was practically giddy until asked about the follow-up. Then his mood dampened and gave a vague not-so-giddy response. You have to wonder what editors thought about the extra 400 pages that were axed.

What was removed and for what reason? Legal reasons like possibly being open to libel and defamation accusations? The family won't sue, but maybe he talked shit about others who would. Were his complaints redundant and became boring after several rinse and repeats? Did Harry yammer on incessantly about trivial subjects? Did Moehringer and the editors simply not believe some of his material and fact checkers couldn't find evidence? Basically, did they try to save Harry from himself and make him more believable? I'm intrigued by what might be in the omitted material.

by Anonymousreply 115February 26, 2023 7:17 PM

As much as I hate him/them, I have to hand it to them - the best selling non-fiction book in modern times? something like that.

I thought it would be a snoozefest of pablum. Congrats, Moehringer. And just keep on being the idiot you are, Haz. You and Uncle Andrew are the gifts that keep on giving.

And you, Meg, are simply a boring basic bitch. Go away.

by Anonymousreply 116February 26, 2023 7:22 PM

I don't think Meghan is embarrassed or upset at the negative attention 'Spare' is getting.

I think she's upset that SouthPark made a fool out of her - and her podcast, and previous cartoon Princess Pearl Conquers the World, have been such abject, boring failures. She can't accomplish a damned thing on her own. But he can!

by Anonymousreply 117February 26, 2023 7:25 PM

Prince Tidger really can't accomplish anything on his own, either, absent his connection to the family he hates.

by Anonymousreply 118February 26, 2023 8:46 PM

"I'm intrigued by what might be in the omitted material."

Judging from the finished book, 400 pages of complaining about the press.

by Anonymousreply 119February 26, 2023 11:16 PM

The point South Park made at the end was subtle and damning to Meghan--she must be furious if she got it.

Harry was born permafamous. He'll be the one the public is interested in until he dies--he'll keep on playing his loud, annoying drum beat (hence him on the drum kit at the end), and people will put up with it just like the SP kids did.

Meghan is an empty vessel who, without Harry, will disappear from the picture entirely.

by Anonymousreply 120February 26, 2023 11:22 PM

That sums up their situation perfectly r120

by Anonymousreply 121February 26, 2023 11:24 PM

I'm with r84. Meghan isn't pretty. Never was. She was screwing everyone according to Bower and Low.

by Anonymousreply 122February 27, 2023 8:54 AM

No r116. That was ONLY for Penguin Random House, his publisher, founded in 2013. Not anywhere else.

by Anonymousreply 123February 27, 2023 8:58 AM

Please tell us more about her slutty ways, r122? Thanks

by Anonymousreply 124February 27, 2023 11:47 AM

I think Meghan was pretty but childbirth absolutely wrecked her and she never came back from it. I like her hair so much more when it was bouncy and wavy like Kates. She looks so hard now. The best thing about the World Wide Privacy Tour, besides everything, were the magazine covers. All were exact replicas. The Cut cover reminded me how hard Meghan looks these days and between the filler and huge weave, looks much thicker than she did when. she was in the UK.

by Anonymousreply 125February 28, 2023 3:22 AM

Harry's new pay per view endeavor with the trauma and addiction specialist should provide SP writers with much grist for the parody mill.

I wonder if Harry will be self-conscious, hold back, and attempt to be thoughtful or at least present that way? Or will he use his PPV to lash out and rage at Comedy Central, Parker and Stone, handing them very early Xmas presents?

Either way they'll chew him up. Maybe they'll blow him up a la Spinal Tap drummer Mick Shrimpton when he once again retreats to his drum kit. (Maybe that was the plan all along. Drum kit? I wondered. How odd)

by Anonymousreply 126February 28, 2023 3:44 AM

^Actually, correcting myself. Mick wasn't blown up, he spontaneously combusted while on his drum kit which is actually what Harry is doing slow-mo in real time, if that makes sense

SP is definitely coming up with a Part II. Ratings for rebroadcast on Wednesday should be *interesting.*

by Anonymousreply 127February 28, 2023 3:53 AM

Absolutely right, R125. I also found her particularly hard-looking and flinty-eyed in the Oprah interview. She was unable to keep the spite in her heart from writing itself all over her face. She also isn't beautiful enough to pull off the expression she attempted on the cover of The Cut, either, and again just looked hard.

by Anonymousreply 128February 28, 2023 3:59 AM

"I think Meghan was pretty but childbirth absolutely wrecked her and she never came back from it."

It's true, she was very pretty before she had the kids, and now she's... above average for an American woman of forty.

Harry's looks have declined much more sharply. He used to be tall, fit, and rather handsome, now he's starting to look like Henry VIII.

by Anonymousreply 129February 28, 2023 4:52 AM

Why did they put that hideous photo of Meghan on the cover the The Cut? Not just freckles, but splotches, little dark lines, what looks to be pimples? Wasn't there a makeup artist anywhere around?

But one thing about narcissists, they are so out of touch with reality, and so enamored of themselves, that they can think they look great when they look like shit. (see Madonna) So maybe she thought she looked dreamy ?!?

by Anonymousreply 130February 28, 2023 4:58 AM

I believe the term is "real," not "dreamy."

That's the real her.

by Anonymousreply 131February 28, 2023 5:01 AM

The collage of covers. The only on that isn't Meghan is the Vogue cover which featured Kate

by Anonymousreply 132February 28, 2023 6:40 AM

She looked her best shot by Lindbergh for the VF covershoot. Not much to talk about since.

by Anonymousreply 133February 28, 2023 9:47 AM

I love how so many of the South Park versions of the covers feature the white hat.

Did she manage even one cover before Dimbo?

by Anonymousreply 134February 28, 2023 10:15 AM

I was peering at that flying saucer/white hat yesterday, and it looks to me like an uncovered buckram form. You can see the stitches on the edges that hold the wire on. And it's not even hand made, but something spit out at a factory. A normal person would have covered the naked form in fabric to harmonize with the dress and attach a light ribbon or whimsical posy. It's like clueless Sparkles is wearing a coat lining as an outer garment.

by Anonymousreply 135February 28, 2023 2:00 PM

This broad goes out on quite a limb, but her take on their relationship is not implausible.

by Anonymousreply 136February 28, 2023 7:01 PM

I didn’t find this episode funny at all. It’s the shit everyone has been saying for years. They just put it into an episode format. Too easy. The only bit that would actually be funny is if Meghan and Harry are really threatening to sue over it. Other than that, South Park is just boring. After 25 plus years, they were bound to get stale, just like The Simpsons. Even the trans episodes were too easy. Too bad no one else beyond Bill Maher will take on those sorts of topics now but South Park really hasn’t put any sort of a twist on any of it. It just is. A forced regurgitation of everyone’s public arguments about certain topics. It just ain’t funny. Spitting Image did do a funny bit with Harry working in a Starbucks after leaving for LA though - that’s something different. The Meghan and Harry want privacy but do everything to invite the public in is too easy. We already know. Everyone has said that. South Park added nothing to it.

by Anonymousreply 137February 28, 2023 7:28 PM

No, "everyone" has not said what "we already know." In fact, next to no-one has had the audacity, worrying about getting sued, harassed and cancelled. I'm looking forward to a rumored second episode.

To twist the knife, Wednesday night they are re-broadcasting the show.

by Anonymousreply 138February 28, 2023 7:51 PM

I was just looking at their schedule and it is re-airing tonight at 9:35PM (mountain.) Tomorrow at 10:30PM is a new episode - Japanese Toilets, followed by a rerun of Mr Garrison's Fancy New Vagina

by Anonymousreply 139February 28, 2023 8:29 PM

^thanks. got my date mixed up. So MANY exciting Harry appearances to watch.

by Anonymousreply 140March 1, 2023 2:21 AM

Well don't forget to pay your $33 to be in on that 'conversation' with Harry and Dr Gabor Maté CM, Hungarian-Canadian physician, author, and famewhore.

What's next? The Masked Singer? Celebrity Big Brother?

by Anonymousreply 141March 1, 2023 2:43 AM

And I still want to see Meghan and Lady C on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.

by Anonymousreply 142March 1, 2023 2:44 AM

I predict c will suffer a heroic death that galvanizes the UK and that C3 will take a zaftig Peruvian nudist as his new consort.

Harry is fucked.

by Anonymousreply 143March 1, 2023 3:36 AM

Neither Harry nor Meghan have ever been good looking. These are simple facts..

by Anonymousreply 144March 1, 2023 6:32 AM

Nope r134. Not even a tabloid mention. She was an absolute nobody here before Harry.

by Anonymousreply 145March 1, 2023 6:35 AM

R145 - She did have the Reintman's campaign in Canada.

by Anonymousreply 146March 1, 2023 7:16 AM

I'm not sure non-Canadians realize how small-time Reitmans is. I'm convinced she was an asshole on the shoot (as reported by Bower) because she was conscious of the fact that it's anything but a high-end brand. Quite the opposite. She believed she deserved the Vogue cover and there she was doing commercials for a Canadian mall store chain.

by Anonymousreply 147March 1, 2023 7:19 AM

Didn't she try to spin the Reitmans campaign as being about her own "signature line"?

by Anonymousreply 148March 1, 2023 12:20 PM

She was an absolute nobody in the US before Harry.

by Anonymousreply 149March 1, 2023 1:42 PM

The Bashful Housewives of Montecito?

by Anonymousreply 150March 1, 2023 1:51 PM

Some posters have hinted at this, but I’m convinced that much of the inspiration and material for the SP piece came from datalounge. The dangling tendrils were an obvious nod to the DL.

by Anonymousreply 151March 1, 2023 3:36 PM

It wouldn't surprise me if someone on the writing staff is DLer.

by Anonymousreply 152March 1, 2023 4:20 PM

[quote] A normal person would have covered the naked form in fabric to harmonize with the dress and attach a light ribbon or whimsical posy.

Wait. What?!

No. That is not what a "normal" person would do, Patsy.

by Anonymousreply 154March 1, 2023 4:34 PM

If you mean trailer meg and her ilk wouldn't know the diff, then ok.

by Anonymousreply 155March 1, 2023 4:47 PM

[quote]She did have the Reitman's campaign in Canada.

and nobody who might have even seen the commercials or magazine spreads even gave a thought as to who 'that model' might be, she was essentially just another window mannequin, however in this case, a mannequin that moved and gave smarmy face

by Anonymousreply 156March 1, 2023 5:56 PM

I get that people have "bad sides. but Sparkles is a horrible model, both body- and charisma-wise.

by Anonymousreply 157March 1, 2023 7:50 PM

I'm American and never heard of Reitmans. It sounds like a JC Penny type place.

by Anonymousreply 158March 1, 2023 8:21 PM

I cracked up at the part where they were letting of fireworks and Harry was riding his Polo pony in circles around his wife. This episode was funny as hell.

by Anonymousreply 159March 1, 2023 8:21 PM

Lorne Michaels has said that the most beloved caricatures of famous people by the actors on SNL always made them out to be lovable while they lampooned them, from Dana Carvey as George H. W. Bush and Ross Perot to Tina Fey as Sarah Palin to Cecily Strong as Jeannine Pirro. None of those people were/are actually lovable in real life, but their SNL impersonators's versions of them were.

One thing I liked about this episode was that while it may not have made Harry and Sarah lovable, it did make them weirdly endearing, especially when they timidly watch from their front window to see how Kyle will react to all the magazine covers pasted on his door.

by Anonymousreply 160March 2, 2023 2:09 AM

Nope r160. It made them major global laughingstocks.

Lol they can’t criticize it or it’s Barbra Streisand effect.

I've been on DL for about 20 years. And there have always been comments like this.

And they have always made me laugh. Because some of you are so delusional about DL's influence on the outside world. Bless your hearts.

by Anonymousreply 166March 2, 2023 5:35 PM

[quote] And they have always made me laugh. Because some of you are so delusional about DL's influence on the outside world. Bless your hearts.

You don’t know nothing. I used to post some funny things on DataLounge, then about six months later they appeared as jokes on Seinfeld. DataLounge created situations for the Elaine Benes character in later seasons! Fact!

by Anonymousreply 168March 2, 2023 7:19 PM

The Daily Mail plagiarized a snarky review of Maddona's movie about the Duchess of Windsor posted here on DL by someone who had seen a sneak preview in NYC a week or two prior.

by Anonymousreply 169March 2, 2023 7:29 PM

Way back when the DL was a just a phone network where people would pass on funny messages, long before the internet, I wrote about a guy I knew names Indiana Smith and how I gave him a blowjob in the jungle once. and two years later, Boom! The Arc movie.

And the blowjob ended up hidden away in the Private Director's Cut.

So there.

by Anonymousreply 170March 2, 2023 7:34 PM

Lipstick alley and Reddit are also on the case, if anything I think they were looking at Reddit as it is easier to follow then here or LSA.

by Anonymousreply 171March 2, 2023 7:43 PM

^^deadly humorless frau sites

by Anonymousreply 172March 2, 2023 7:54 PM

Chandra Das Gupta is a rabid lunatic r163 and Kaiser is a perfect screen name for her.

by Anonymousreply 173March 2, 2023 9:24 PM

As a Canadian, I can tell you that Reitman’s is a cheap store for lower middle class frauen with no style. Polyester abounds and the sizing is huge. Caters to 40+ fatties. Samantha Markle would love shop there for sure.

by Anonymousreply 174March 2, 2023 9:30 PM

Other sites post about the Sussexes but the humor is better on DL, and what I'm looking for, a good laugh.

by Anonymousreply 177March 2, 2023 11:03 PM

Reddit can be good when there is scoop but people can get take things a little too seriously, beyond the entertainment value of it all. I love to hate H&M but I don't wish them bodily hard or am like obsessed with Meghan's fertility.

by Anonymousreply 178March 3, 2023 4:14 AM

The Reddit stuff is humourless. Sussex mockery is much more entertaining here on DL.

by Anonymousreply 179March 3, 2023 8:48 AM

There is no place better for acid commentary and catchy buzzwords like Meghan was 'stunting and cunting'

by Anonymousreply 180March 3, 2023 8:56 PM

Harry is a pasty of small meat and small potatoes, and mainly comes across as a vegetable in a soggy wrapping with a large oily bottom fish on the side.
