Sorry to bump this thread after six months, but I need to talk about the Morning Show.
I recently got a new iPhone and got three months of Apple TV as a result. Just got through binge watching the two seasons of Morning Show.
I adored the first season. I thought it was riveting. Great all the way around. In fact, I enjoyed the first season so much, I immediately went back and re-watched the first season again. Still excellent with the second viewing.
Then I watched the second season. Talk about a catastrophe! What a mess! Did they not even watch the first season to write the second? This is a textbook case of How to Destroy a Hit TV Series in 10 Episodes!
The whole first season was about how they dealt with the fallout of Mitch's sexploits, how the show and the networked picked up the pieces, regrouped and kept going in the face of the scandal being made public.
So, it would make sense that the show would continue with that theme in the second season by showing how the show and network picked up the pieces, regrouped and kept going in the face of the scandal about Fred Micklin being made public.
But NO. Instead, we just ahead nine month, skipping over all the regrouping and picking up the pieces and have scattershot episodes about one anchor getting $25 million and then barely showing up to work, while the other one discovering she likes pussy more than dick. WTF!
I just feel so betrayed. This show I loved so much that I watched the first season twice in quick succession only to have this mess in the second season -- Alex going rogue and turned up in Italy to dance with Mitch. Alex getting COVID and doing a feverish on-air broadcast, Bradley going loco for the vagine and wandering hospital wards looking for her brother in the beginning of a pandemic, Chip (who I really liked from season one) talking a demotion to come back and to the show to be with Alex and later risking his life by exposing himself to COVID to be with Alex. Mitch developing a tiny bit of conscious and then committing suicide as a result.
And of course, there's Cory whose evil twin brother apparently kidnapped him and then stole his life, pretending he was a network executive. And while evil twin brother looked and talked like Cory, no one noticed that evil twin brother had a different personality and disposition? WTF.
Of the ten episodes in season two, I did enjoy one show -- episode 8 where the show learns Mitch has been killed and scrambles to verify it. It was tense and dramatic and had me on the edge the whole time. Yes, it got overwrought as soon as Alex landed and had her meltdowns, but aside from that, it was a good episode.
Will season three be an improvement over season two?
