I saw this film in the theater on one of my first gay dates.
By the end of the movie, I hated Joe Orton so much that I was relieved when Halliwell murdered him. I didn’t tell my date that, though.

Joe Orton is a character in this film about gay Welsh actor Kenneth Williams, who was a friend and Moroccan sex holiday companion of Orton, and who also appeared in his play, Loot.
Has anyone seen this movie. The dialogue from this scene seems in line with a lot of DL threads.

Alfred Molina is good as KH, but he doesn't look anything like him (whereas as Oldman is a very good Orton look alike).
Apparently, the public toilet portrayed in the film now is a swanky bar. How London has changed in half a century!

Kenneth Halliwell could have had a real career as an artist if his fragile mental state and pill addiction hadn't ended his life. He was so busy living in Joe Orton's shadow that he couldn't realize that his collage work had a brilliance that could have given him a real career and recognition of his own.

r8 Kenneth Williams was not Welsh. He was English. Michael Sheen who played him in Fantabulosa is Welsh.

Kenneth Halliwell was bit older than Joe Orton. After their arrest, conviction and subsequent incarceration for theft and defacing library books upon release nature of relationship seemed to have begun changing.
One wonders if Kenneth Halliwell just couldn't handle besides Joe Orton's endless promiscuity that perhaps he might soon be dumped.
It takes extraordinary rage to whack someone's head many times with a hammer with clear intent to cause death.
