Which film by America's most beloved actor would you save for your hideous, disgusting grandchildren to watch in 30 years? Vote in the poll or comment with your choice.

Of that group, Sleepless In Seattle. But Big was his best film.
And although it sucked, it seems stupid to leave out Forrest Gump.

R1, No one likes Forrest Gump but you. It's a relic that would be laughed off the screen today.
| by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 1, 2022 1:39 AM |
I'm watching The 'Burbs right now and think it's the perfect sendup of those times, so I voted for it.
| by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 1, 2022 1:52 AM |
Excluding "Big" makes this poll utterly pointless.
| by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 1, 2022 1:53 AM |
Doesn’t he have a leaked sex tape?
| by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 1, 2022 1:55 AM |
Which one best showcases his talent at being an angry drunk behind the scenes?
| by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 1, 2022 1:58 AM |
Big. Or, maybe, Joe Versus the Volcano.
| by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 1, 2022 2:00 AM |
Y'all seem to want the most obvious choices. Why not think outside of the hideous boxes you live in?
| by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 1, 2022 2:12 AM |
Tom Hanks has made dozens of movies. What sort of person would choose Forrest Gump as his most notable? It's confounding.

[quote]Y'all seem to want the most obvious choices. Why not think outside of the hideous boxes you live in?
The ones you chose are hardly highbrow, OP, and we're merely asking why you didn't include some of the most beloved ones along with them.
| by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 1, 2022 3:52 AM |
Big. I bet many of us here grew up with that movie.
| by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 1, 2022 3:58 AM |
R15, lol. They're not meant to be highbrow but to offer a cross section of Hanks' films. You're not very bright, are you?
| by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 1, 2022 4:32 AM |
Big, by a mile. OP is a retard.
| by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 1, 2022 4:34 AM |
You're hardly one to be commenting on the intelligence of others, OP, and it's not really a "cross section" when several of his best known films are absent from the poll.
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 1, 2022 4:37 AM |
For such a major star he has pretty weak filmography
| by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 1, 2022 5:08 AM |
R20, so you just want the most obvious choices without having to reconsider some of his films that weren't blockbusters. Got it, dumbass.
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 1, 2022 5:24 AM |
Big and Forrest Gump are unwatchable.
| by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 1, 2022 5:27 AM |
Big.
[quote]so you just want the most obvious choices without having to reconsider some of his films that weren't blockbusters. Got it, dumbass.
I'm not that person, but my answer would be that or none of them.
... because they're my grandchildren in your scenario.

No, "dumbass" trOllP, I already said in addition to your choices, not in place of them.
| by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 1, 2022 5:31 AM |
OP thinks of himself as too cultured to include Big in a poll about a white bread star who basically plays himself in every movie.
| by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 1, 2022 5:36 AM |
OP also posts a dumb poll, then cunts at everyone who calls him out on it.
Also, sorry, but anyone who thinks Big isn't a good movie is either a hopeless snob or a dumb twat, probably both.

I loved the bejezzus out of 'Joe Versus the Volcano'. Tom had that really thick, volcanic, curly hair at the time. He was hot.
| by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 1, 2022 4:41 PM |
Isn't he cuddly with whats-her-name?

Big or Catch Me If You Can.
But mostly Big.
| by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 1, 2022 5:10 PM |
R12 I've always loved The Money Pit.
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 1, 2022 5:14 PM |
The Money Pit and nothing else. He is hilarious when he's in a comedy, cannot stand to watch anything serious that he's in, so I have seen zero full screenings of his other movies.
Comedic actors should just do that! Stop trying to win Oscars! Just take your hilarity and keep making funny movies!
| by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 1, 2022 5:21 PM |
Bachelor Party, because it's also a time capsule of sexy Adrian Zmed.
| by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 1, 2022 5:26 PM |
Was Bachelor Party the movie that had the ladies out at the strip club and the stripper comes up with a "footlong and then some" and the woman keeps trying to pull the "hotdog" or was that from another movie?

R33, Hanks was fantastic in Philadephia, Captain Phillips, Cast Away, and the Mr. Rogers film. Talented actors can go back and forth between comedy and drama.
| by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 1, 2022 5:28 PM |
Um, Family Ties He should have replaced Tina Yothers He had practice in Bosom Buddies
| by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 1, 2022 5:31 PM |
R47 I'm sure he's a talented actor in dramas but I have zero desire to watch him in a drama, ever.
| by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 1, 2022 5:37 PM |
“I like his earlier, funnier work.”
| by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 1, 2022 8:14 PM |
The Money Pit was and is poorly reviewed. I find it and Hanks and Shelley, very funny. Always Watchable. He's comic gold and very touching in BIG. But twice is enough for that film.
Hanks is OSCAR great in Castaway, Sleepless in Seattle and Saving Private Ryan.
I don't care for either of his actual Oscar winning roles or portrayals. He is always competent, often surprising - but with a lot of extra sauce. Cloying.
If people dislike Tom Hanks as an actor, they just dislike Tom Hanks. He is a pretty fine actor. Not much he can't do except play a heartthrob.
Tom should take some of the roles that Kevin Costner does so well later in life. It's a step down - but far more interesting work.

Not his best film but The Money Pit is my favorite, has a high rewatchability factor and Shelley Long.
