I think some of the hateful comments are over-the-top too, but he's not the victim his demented supporters, which mainly consists of MRAs and unhinged fangirls, make him out to be. He cheated on the mother of his children, who he never had the decency to marry, and dumped her for a stripper/escort turned mediocre actress decades too young for him. He abused alcohol and drugs just as much as Amber. He was also just as verbally abusive and violent as Amber. Yet the Deppford wives are full of excuses for Depp's shitty behaviour, but demonize Amber. Their hypocrisy is disgusting.

R18 To be fair, they are Vanessa's children too. Johnny's probably a bad father but he kept her and the kids in the lap of luxury for years. She knew he was a volatile druggie and still choose to procreate with him. She has some success in France but never made extreme amounts of money like he did--there's no way she'd have extreme wealth without him: I believe she received over a 100 million when they split, plus a few mansions.

I find it so weird he went on and on about his supposed Native American heritage and even tried to be advocate for Native rights and played Native Americans in films like The Brave and Lone Ranger. But it turned out he not only had no Native ancestry but he actually descended from a Black woman (who is his 8th great-grandmother) who's daughter successfully sued for freedom. Meaning his ancestors were black and mixed-race free people of color. So he's more or less a typical Melungeon from the Upper South. Many Melungeons claimed Native to avoid having to deal with possible enslavement and also Jim Crow laws (ergo the Lumbee and Ramapough). I don't fault Depp for falling for the old family lore. But what I dislike is after this information came out, he continued to keep cosplaying as a Cherokee Indian and said nothing in regards to his African ancestry nor spoke up for systemic racism against African-Americans despite having relation to them. The girl group 702 is distantly related to Depp for instance. He probably isn't particularly fond of actually being part Black. Why do White Americans still fetishize Native Americans so much yet deny that whatever nonwhite ancestry they have is more likely African? I guess that's too boring.
