The kids who killed her husband only did so because she raped one of them and blackmailed him into killing her husband for her.
The kids pleaded guilty and turned state's evidence. Pam gambled away her freedom by falsely maintaining her innocence.
The kids would never have killed her husband if she hadn't put them up to it. They did their time and earned their freedom.
Pam Smart deserves to die in prison.

They were kids in a pre-Columbine era when teen violence was significantly less common and bluntly, less violent. Also, if not for her, they wouldn't have killed him. She instigated the chain of events that led to his murder.
I wonder whether the teens would be tried as adults today and whether they would have received as light, comparatively, of a sentence.

She deserved to stay in prison longer, but 30yrs is a long time whatever the case. Many people get out earlier for murder. I don't think she should have to die in prison just because it happens to be a high-profile case.

They were tried as adults in 1991. The two main perps were released only recently. The relative lenience of their sentence was based on their guilty pleas and their cooperation with the prosecution. They were under-privileged small-town thugs who got roped into a murder by a greedy whore who valued her dog and her white leather couch over her husband's life.

The man who murdered Dominick Dunne’s daughter got out of jail in less than 3 years. The penalty for murder seems to be completely arbitrary.

He was convicted of manslaughter, not murder, which is amazing considering that he put his hands around Dunne's throat and squeezed until she fell to the floor, brain dead. The jury was incredibly stupid. Later one of the jurors said that if they'd heard "all the evidence (Sweeney had a history of violence against women)" they would have convicted him of murder. But the evidence that WAS presented at trial should have been enough to convict him of murder. Anyway, for murdering Dunne he basically got a slap on the wrist. His sentence truly was a travesty.
As for Pamela Smart...well, she's a sociopath. Look at her in interviews; her lack of affect and dead eyes are chilling. And don't say "well, if you were in prison for almost thirty years you'd be kind of numb, too!" She was that way BEFORE she went to prison. I don't think she'll ever get out. She blames her HUSBAND for his murder. She said the murder happened because she had an ill-advised affair with Billy Flynn. But the only reason she did that was because her husband had had a "one night stand" with another woman. So if he hadn't cheated on her she would not have had an affair with a 15 year old and if she hadn't had the affair with the 15 year old he wouldn't have gotten murdered. See? It's all HIS fault! That is her reasoning.
Her hair was always ridiculous but now it's not to believed; long, urine colored and styled in sausage curls. Any woman who wants her hair to look like THAT is capable of anything.
