New York Unemployment Benefits

The dinky ass website operates best on Internet Explorer 5.0 and even if you get it processed online, good luck getting anyone on the phone.

Guess everyone will just starve.

I had a claim open with lot of weeks on it it, click, click, click paid. It will work, but avoid trying to call, that won't happen.

R1 but they say you have to call in to get it completed?

by Anonymousreply 2May 1, 2020 6:50 PM

R2 no. I mean, yes that's what it says, but they will actually call you if they have a question about your claim.

I filed on 3/16 and after weeks of trying to get through, my claim was finally approved this week. Today it was direct deposited into my checking, over $5,000 as it included all the weeks from my filing date.

Does the screen say your claim is partially incomplete or pending? I know it sucks, but be patient, they will get to you.

Everyone is struggling with this. My friend’s boyfriend took five weeks and even after entering his bank routing info, they mailed him a debit card. And now my partner has been laid off and it’s been three full weeks...today, I saw that the NYS DOF made a $0.00 deposit...hopefully this means they are planning to deposit actual money eventually.

R1, did you get the extra $600 that everyone keeps talking about? Or is that a myth?

My claim was already "completed" as I had collected for a few weeks last fall. All you need to do after that is hit "claim weekly benefits" for any week you qualify. I do now recall them calling me, I think. I'm sorry it is so jammed now, that sucks, but in general I've not had a problem and the reps were informed and helpful. Be persistent!

R4 that's a good sign if you saw a test deposit, you are in the home stretch.

Have you gone into your payment history? It will give you more details like release dates, etc

R3, great idea! That didn’t even occur to me, thank you!

Where the fuck does it show pending or not

by Anonymousreply 8May 2, 2020 12:14 AM

It’s there, but not in an obvious place. Log in on this page, scroll down to “Unemployment Insurance” and it’s under “Payment History.”

Why didn't you fill it out properly?

Of course the benefit process is going to be slow, we have never had this many people applying at one time. I know my state has had to recall workers from other departments, that were declared unessential, and place them to work processing claims. Hopefully, one of the things that will get fixed in the aftermath is the unemployment benefit claiming system. For instance, in crisis such as this, employers should be able to just send a list of all their furloughed employees and their payroll information to the unemployment office and make it seamless.
