We used to laugh at this commercial when it was on television. The puerile dialogue went something like this:
“This itching! It’s driving me NUTS!!!”
“Now will you try Lanacane?!?”
“NO WAY! I’m not putting that stuff up MY ass!!!”

The Itch.

Go to CVS and buy Witch Hazel. Dip some q tips in the Witch Hazel squat and rub them gently up and down your ass crack. Do this everyday and you should see some relief.

Are you rinsing the soap during your shower enough? Happens to my pits sometimes and I realized it was because I didn't rinse enough while taking a fast shower.
| by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 24, 2019 12:46 AM |
You have Anal Warts. If your are 20 to 30 years old, your age group has a 50% infection rate. Unfortunately OP they have to burn them off. They multiply if you don't get them taken care of.
| by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 24, 2019 12:53 AM |
Try 1 T of natural apple cider vinegar in 4 T water. Wet a cottonball with it and wipe it over the area (don't rub), then let it dry.

I have had the same problem for 20 years now on only one side. Itches like crazy at times. Have been to about 3 doctors. The last one prescribed a lotion that really helped for a few months, but then the itchiness came back with a vengeance.
| by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 24, 2019 1:05 AM |
OP: You may have a slight yeast infection in your ass crack and anal area--just like you might occasionally get in between your toes if you had athlete's foot. Here's a remedy: Go to CVS, Rite-Aid, etc., and buy a tube of vaginal cream that women use when they have a yeast infection. The cream is most effective if it has the ingredient Clotrimazole in it. See photo link below. Your itch will be gone in a day or so.
Do not purchase a tube of Lotrimin for athlete's feet even though Lotrimin has clotrimazole in it; the dosage is too weak.. Instead, purchase the vaginal creme with Clotrimazole. If you cannot find tube of Clotrimazole vaginal cream, then buy the women's vaginal cream Monistat for yeast infections, which will also work but maybe not as quickly as Clotrimazole.
Trust me. Been there, done that.

Lortirmin. Jock itch but on your crack where it's sweaty. Is your crack hairy? If so trim it. . spray 2x a day and It'll go away in a week or so.

Another vote for worms. I usually take worm meds twice a year. Could possibly be from raw vegetables.

I occasionally have this problem, and I just use Vaseline, which always seems to work.

You actually may be using too much soap which is irritating the skin.

Dove soap cleanses while moisturizing. It’s one quarter cleansing cream.

Settle your affairs now, OP.
| by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 24, 2019 10:29 AM |
Use a blowtorch to redden the area. Remember, scar tissue doesn't itch.

Your itchy ass needs dong to scratch it, maybe a trucker's dong.

Rub it on the floor. Usually relieves my itch.

A friend had this and it turned out to be an e-coli infection. Apparently, it's very common. He had to take antibiotics, so go to the doctor, op
| by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 24, 2019 10:41 AM |
R28, you're correct. I would never tolerate "constant itching," especially on my butt.
OP, please see a doctor. If you're a man, fungal infections in that region known as "jock itch" are common and very contagious, but are easily cured with OTC medication. The best OTC remedy is Lamisil (terbinafine).
If you had sex without a condom/with a stranger just before that itching began, get to an infectious disease specialist and/or your local public health clinic ASAP,

Skin cancer? I'm sure it's very bad whatever it is.

Yeast or fungal infection. Go to MD and get a cream. It will wipe it out in a day or 2.

I bought a block of wood at Lowe’s and use it to scratch my asshole.

This is my life. Despite a doctor shining. a flashlight on my anus and testing for pinworms, no cause was found. I find an antihistamine helps a lot, though.
| by Anonymous | reply 39 | October 25, 2019 1:53 AM |
I've lived with this problem for 20 years now. No cause has ever been found.
| by Anonymous | reply 40 | October 25, 2019 3:31 AM |
Use a blow dryer on that area after showering. Don’t hold it too close or you’ll burn but don’t stop until you are completely, 100% dry. Towel or air drying will still leave a bit of dampness. This also works for anyone suffering from jock itch or athlete’s foot.
| by Anonymous | reply 41 | October 25, 2019 4:08 AM |
Witch Hazel. This will cure the problem. It will burn for a hot minute but the itching will go away and you will feel immediate and lasting relief. Witch Hazel eliminates anal itch. It is affordable and 100% effective.

Stop being an idiot. See a medical professional. You are NOT going to shock/disgust them in any way. We see everything on a regular basis.
| by Anonymous | reply 50 | October 25, 2019 8:29 AM |
I can't see a doctor. My dermatologist always brings in a woman to take notes during the consultation. I would die of embarrassment.

Are you anxious or stressed? I had what you describe in my late teens and well into my twenties when I was very closeted and an emotional mess for a lot of times. Scratching any part of the body is often a symptom of stress. Not being funny... but does it feel good at times? For me it did and I kept going back till it sometimes bled. Then after a few days to heal I'd go back again. And it felt good again... for a short time. It was self-perpetuating behavior that I kind of grew out of. Soap, oil or lotion didn't have any effect because it was really a symptom of anxiety. But that's with the wisdom of hindsight - and admittedly a self-diagnosis so I could be wrong. Have a long think about when you feel the need to itch and how it feels when you scratch it. Or stop focusing on the symptom and find the cause (which a good doctor would do). Good luck.

It amazes me how gents ask for advice on DL about these issues. When I was in my 20’s, I resisted going to the doctor, but realized that knowing what was going on outweighed the stress of not knowing. I feel for gay men who are not in big cities though, I’m sure some of the doctors aren’t exactly gay friendly.

Stop using Bounce dryer sheets. Hundreds of chemicals in it.
Stop using detergent like body wash when you shower. It’s abrasive.
Use 100% cotton underwear. Breathability avoids bacterial/fungal infections.
Switch to a different laundry soap.
Toilet paper - may need to switch brands. Some are abrasive or scented with who knows what.
| by Anonymous | reply 63 | October 30, 2019 12:06 AM |
R63 Very sound advice for OP. I would add stay away from products with the preservatives methylchloroisothiazolinone, and methylisothiazolinone. They are sensitising chemicals, where one's reaction becomes worse each time exposed. They often put the two in wet wipes. Caused me much agony, until a Doc told me he sees the same irritation in children/infants. They use these in shampoos, conditioners, and body wash. They will usually appear at the end of the ingredient list. Benadryl cream is a highly effective OTC solution for the itching. You can find inexpensive generic diphenhydramine creams too. If you cannot see the Doc, try the Clotrimazole or Monistat as R16 suggests. It won't hurt you if it isn't yeast. I wouldn't use the Lamisil for feet or jock itch. The vaginal cream is more appropriate for the mucosal of the anus/rectum.
| by Anonymous | reply 64 | October 30, 2019 12:26 AM |
Start using disposable wipes instead of toilet paper to reduce irritation.
Next, put cortisone cream on your butt hole.
| by Anonymous | reply 65 | October 30, 2019 12:53 AM |
OP Cortisone can thin skin over time, and isn't the best thing to be using on the anus. (according to my Doc). It can also mask symptoms, and make diagnosis difficult. It won't solve any underlying problem either, just temporarily quell the inflammation.
If you do take R65's advice, make sure the wipes are free of those two preservatives.
