He seemed like a nice guy. And he was very outspoken about U.S. imperialism in Latin America. I can’t believe he’s dead and Henry Kissinger is still alive.

What? I watch him on Sam Seders show quite a bit

by Anonymousreply 2July 21, 2020 4:51 PM

My son met him and said he was a great guy. I wonder what he died from - I don’t think they said.

His sister was on The Majority Report. She said it was a blood clot in the throat, totally unexpected, not COVID related.

Michael was also a gifted political impressionist, specializing in acting out right wing conspiracy theories. Here's his sketch with Sam Seder about the origins of the Christopher Steele dossier 14:08.

Someone online mentioned that he had previously had a blood clot I believe in 2014.

Why wasn’t he on a blood thinner?

by Anonymousreply 6July 22, 2020 12:44 AM

He died of a carotid venous thrombosis (aka jugular vein thrombosis). Extremely rare in healthy young men. Most typically associated with IV drug use.

Wouldn't mention it except the family have been so tight-lipped about the details of what happened.

He was such an asshole about Mayor Pete.

by Anonymousreply 8July 24, 2020 4:07 AM

I thought Marxism was atheistic in nature.

by Anonymousreply 11July 26, 2020 7:27 AM

People keep saying he was really nice, but I saw a lot of the dirtbag left "shut up Hillary and go molest babies on Epstein's island" from him on Twitter, so I'm not quite getting the "nice" bit.

by Anonymousreply 12July 26, 2020 8:05 AM

You can search Twitter yourself to see what this guy said about Pete.

Lots of stuff like "disgusting," "least likable person on earth," full of "stunning bullshit," that he's "generation defining trash," and lots of talk about Pete being a CIA plant, which was a huge dirtbag left talking point. Also a lot of "Klobuchar is cucking Pete" crap, which along with "he's a freak" and "disgusting" had more than a whiff of homophobia.

Again, all the people saying he's super nice aren't explaining all the hateful things he said about literally every Dem candidate except Bernie.

No one who is a Marxist can be dubbed an intellectual. A psychopath maybe.

by Anonymousreply 14July 26, 2020 8:14 AM

It should have been Jimmy Dore. RIP.

by Anonymousreply 15July 26, 2020 8:24 AM

I’m so sorry he’s been lost but this was NOT A “nice” guy. He was quite nasty in fact. And not at all an objective journalists. Not toward the people he personally disliked.

If you weren’t a Bernie Sanders sycophant and was on his radar, he would mock, parody and do whatever else he could to marginalize, offend and humiliate you.

Breitbartlounge strikes again.

by Anonymousreply 19July 26, 2020 1:45 PM

Well he will certainly be mourned. If David Brooks were to croak, people would on balance celebrate.

by Anonymousreply 20July 26, 2020 1:55 PM

R19 No, R17 had him down to a T. Sorry. His premature death was tragic, he had some accurate points of view on a lot of things, but that 10% that was scathing and libelous really negated the rest. As I said, too bad it wasn't Jimmy Dore who is 99% rabid

by Anonymousreply 21July 26, 2020 3:02 PM

I’m sorry that this person is dead and I’m sure his family is devastated, but that clip at R5 was painfully unfunny.

What the fuck is a Marxist-Buddhist even supposed to be? Insufferable American pseudo-intellectuals...

by Anonymousreply 25July 26, 2020 8:10 PM

“Religion is the opiate of the people“ so I’m not sure how someone could be both a Marxist and a sincere member of religion.

Many Buddhists don't regard Buddhism as a "religion". They consider it a "philosophy" and a "path to enlightenment".
