Mama Cass Elliot as a Style and Fashion Icon

This is a lovely tribute and informative video on Cass Elliot and her fabulous sense of style, much highlighted by the wearing of the caftans, which many here should be able to get behind, or under as the case may be. It’s interesting to compare her to Chrissy Metz and see how she continually fails in what she’s trying to wear, vs. Cass who much more embraced her body type and sought clothes that flattered her and also were comfortable. Chrissy, especially in her presentation clothes, never looks at all comfortable. The newly rediscovered Brigit Fonda could embrace many of these style ideas as well.

R1 She has a great presentation, and I don’t think she does it every time, but she was very smart to turn off the comments here on this video. I could see a lot of potential backlash at her choice and nasty negative comments, best not to deal with any of that shit. I know that there will be snark here, it is DL after all, but I’m also hoping for some nice dialogue as well.

Cass had charisma, which Chrissy Metz does not, though I do think Chrissy would be a stunning woman if she dropped (fill in the blank) pounds. She has a lovely face.

But, to paraphrazhe Liza, Cass wore the clothes and wore them well. The tents wear Chrissy.

Next to Chrissy Metz, Mama Cass would look like Twiggy. Hell I'm not sure Kate Smith was ever as big as Metz. And either way Cass and Smith knew how to dress for their size better than Metz.

It was from Cass that an entire generation of future eldergays learned we could be fabulous when we became fat if we just wore the right colorful caftans.
