A lot of shows in the 60's and early 70's commonly had a scene with the hero tied up, although I think Wild Wild West always had some extra subtext between West and his captor than the normal innocent action show bondage of the time.

A lot of the old westerns had bondage - part of the classic hero in peril borrowed from the old serials. Some of them seemed to have a bit of extra subtext where the villain seemed extra gleeful about having the hero in his power. R128, it wasn't talked about by modern comic nerds, but it was all part and parcel of the Red Scare in the 1950's. Dr. Frederick Wertham, an eminent psychiatrist, wrote newspaper articles and a best selling book on how comic books caused sexual deviancy and juvenile delinquency. The Senate headed a Subcommittee on this subject headed by Sen. Kefauver, and resulted in horror comics as well as spicy material being banned by the industry. They were especially hot and bothered by this cover. I'm sure sweaty palmed s traight teenage boys were happy to part with their dimes for this "headlight" cover.
