It's Friday night, so let's share about the ebullient, effervescent, erstwhile cruise director Julie McCoy from The Love Boat. Budding gaylings of the 80s, how did she shape your worldview? I liked her, but she seemed too fucking perky, but considering she had access to the best blow, one can hardly blame her, can one?
You just KNOW she felt threatened by the casting of Jill Whelan as young Vicki Stubing-it threw off the entire balance of the cast, and they had to bring in those dreadful, ersatz Solid Gold dancers to goose the ratings, but to no avail. Who's to blame for the torpedoing of the Love Boat? Do you think a Knots Landing/Love Boat crossover might have saved it? Because I think a Knots landing/Love Boat crossover would have saved it.

Things really veered off course when they replaced me with the ancient Diane Ladd:
"The crew is working a special Alaskan cruise, wherein all the passengers are women who are vying for a date with Engelbert Humperdinck. The Captain (Gavin MacLeod) informs the crew that Julie (Lauren Tewes) got married and has left. So they get a new cruise director (Diane Ladd), whose a real terror."

I’m always down for the creepy, pervy, ultra violent slasher she made with Jennifer Jason Leigh.

JJL plays a blind, mute and deaf girl and Lauren plays her mom .

R8 I think they play sisters. Haven’t seen it in ages but there’s a good scene when Tewes is looking for evidence in her psycho neighbor’s apartment and he comes back early…it’s Rear Window filtered through exploitation / slasher. Siskel & Ebert hated it.
