It wasn't a secret. He just didn't talk about it in the press.
He would go to gay bars and make out with guys and no one really cared. Hell, most of the time no one even recognized him even when one of his songs would play on the jukebox. He isn't really that tall and looks a lot older in person.
According to a friend he is wild in the sack and there is no such thing as a hookup. They still talk to this day.

I was definitely team Mraz when he and John Mayer were hot shit in the mid 00s. He was way more attractive... that slightly crooked mouth, the somewhat nerdy quality... he seemed like the offbeat type of guy you'd see at school that was actually really attractively if you looked correctly.
He made pleasant enough music, and had a sense of humor about himself. If I'm not mistaken he parodied himself on MADtv back in the day. Did he get good notices in Waitress?
